Being as Google has aboutn $8 bln in cash, and the major music labels combine to run about $12 bln, this doesn't seem to far-fetched. The problem is that Google is in a position where they must accelerate revenue growth. Tough to do by getting involved in an industry that is shrinking.
If the music industry is unhappy with fixed prices, why don't they stop fixing them? Oh, that's right, they're a cartel! Nothing quite like being irrational and acting in a manner that runs counter to self-interest.
I am personally in the Kurt Vonnegut camp, that the jig is up and its too late for us. Even if we could wave a magic wand and end all carbon emissions tomorrow, the feedback cycles and whatnot have already been set in motion. I wonder how people would take it if we had another hurricane season like last year's, maybe if we lost another city like Miami or Tampa. I advise movement to higher ground.
We always have the choice to not storm their headquarters and throw them out of the top floor, too. Forget courts. Tall buildings, much more convincing.
I live in Montana, you insensitive clod! We're already stuck with being the last place to get any kind of improvement in service, we pay fantastically high rates for mediocre service, if any, and you would have us just cut off altogether? No thanks, man.
I wonder how much of that shift can be attributed to the economic convergence that is occuring in Euroland, and how much is due to the US being a mature capitalist economy without much room to grow. Consider that the EU now consists of all the Soviet-bloc states whose economies were basket cases in '81, as well as the fact that, say, Ireland and Portugal have both undergone tremendous bouts of economic growth and reform.
That's not to say that what Bush has been doing should go unexcused. I'd say it borders on criminal, what he's done to science here. It is much easier to fund research when you're rich, you still have to choose to do it.
There are many frustrating things about our current sorta-two-but-really-one party system right now. The most glaring, to me, is that neither has any faith in the free market. One party believes in a perverse form of socialism that isn't really socialism, and if you ever ask, they never admit to it. The other believes that government exists purely as a vehicle to transfer wealth from poor people to rich people. Good times.
Under what definition of "estate" does an estate exceeding $2 mill (the exemption limit as of 2006) not fall? We're not talking about grandmas eating catfood here. Her kids don't have to pay.
Not necessarily. Spreading risk around would become the dominant strategy, rather than concentrate all the data in the hands of Choicepoint or Bank of America. Who is the l33t Russian hacker more likely to target, the big fish, or some little credit union in Omaha?
Never underestimate the power of prevailing winds

Being a downwinder once is enough
Is Vista cockroach-ready yet?

I wonder if that's the idea, though, to get all the porn in one place. Then, down the road, some pol gets the bright idea: "Tax Porn!". Brilliant!
If ever a mathematician had a chance to get laid, this might do the trick.
Ever wonder if beer were cheaper, there would be more of you? (Ugly people need love, too)

Obviously you missed the season premiere of The Sopranos.

You mean people still watch shows when they air? Do they watch the ads too? News to me. . .

How about patenting "commerce"?
All you have to do is masturbate and God will take care of that.
This is the US we're talking about, man. If there were no chaos, corruption, and confusion, what is there to put on the front page?
bs- the outcome of the 2000 election took almost 2 months to resolve. a thing worth doing is worth doing well, even if it takes a few more days.
the word you seek is "washlet"
