The only things done with a tablet were the hair and the veins on the leaf. Everything else was done with a mouse. Personally, I can't sketch with a pencil or pen to save my life... and that's why vectors are my medium of choice. You can always go back and non-destructively tweak it. Seriously, if shakiness is your problem, if you have vision and an understanding of curves/aesthetics/vectors (or whatever... you basically need to know what pleases your eye), you too can make some magic.:)
Hehehehe... I can assure you that there was no bitmap tracing done whatsoever. My wife will confirm this as she watched me draw most of it from scratch (what she didn't watch was when I was on my lunch breaks at the office). I actually have a ton of progressional snapshots done during the creation, I need to string them together to show the process for people. It changed a LOT from beginning to end, and will change even more once we have SVG filters in place.
I'm on Dapper as well and had the same problem...
I went into my HOME dir and did a `sudo rm -rf.googleearth/', ran it again from the menu, and it works fine now as a normal user.:)
I have to say that one of the things that makes FFVII rank so highly for me is the "Materia" system. In my opinion it made for a very interesting way for equipping whatever ability you want to whatever character, as well as the nice aspect of all kinds of combinations.
Certainly, I do have some disappointment that it isn't 100% backwards compatible, but at least they didn't pull a Nintendo by offering absolutely no backwards compatibility.
If we're talking this generation in which Nintendo hasn't released their system yet... you are aware that the Wii can play ALL GameCube games as well as will have all of Nintendo's back library available for download... right? It seems like Nintendo will be the only ones to get backwards compatibility right this go-round.
ahhh... see and for me it adds to the immersion and I personally don't get as involved when playing with a controller that doesn't rumble.
The wavebird is a great controller and all my friends love them... but I still use the gamecube's wired controller because it just adds to the experience.
Please, don't forget the cost of that second PS3 you'll be buying 2-3 years down the line because the BD-ROM broke. Their track record for the PS & PS2 is terrible for the optical drive... and now it's an entirely new technology which hasn't had thoroughly tested.
"but which vendor makes the patching and updating experience the least complex"
I will say that Windows Update was better than anything else I had seen when it was initially introduced (I will admit to not having used Linux then though). However, any modern distros I've used (Ubuntu & Suse most recently) actually have a far LESS complex patch and update mechanism... because they patch all of the software and libraries as well, not just the OS. And they do it the same way as windows with a little notifier in the system tray (yeah, they don't autoinstall as far as I've seen, but, a couple clicks doesn't add to complexity as far as I'm concerned).
Just my.02 on that part...

The real difference in resolution is noticeable when you have a really large screen area. Forget plasma, because if your image is projected to 100"+ then the difference in resolution will be pretty clear (no pun intended).
I think it's very possible that the PS3 will release at a price that's competitive with the 360 and still have a BD-Rom... and it will be just like the PS2s and break in short order.;) Seriously though, the number one point of failure in the PS2 (and PS1 and original XBOX) is the optical drive breaking or "wearing" out... or defocusing or whatever. All I know is they crap out faster than any other optical drives I've used.
Y'know, I've played a number of games on the DS with no cramps or anything whatsoever... that is until Mario Kart. It takes less than 10 mins of playing for the pain to start. The main difference between how the games are played? Shoulder buttons. I really do think you're onto something with that.
it probably takes me 68% longer to set up my home theater with separate components compared to an all-in-one box that has no interconnects. However, the real test comes when one small piece of the "easy" system dies... that's when we can really compare the time and/or $$$ it takes for a particular setup.
Exciting news...

BUT, couldn't they have made a regular website instead of a flash app that has ridiculously long transitions? I was all interested in checking it out, until I lost interest due to the wait for basic information.
PS3 won't be the "only" console that can play HD movies. Microsoft has previously announced that future versions of the 360 will have HD-DVD drives. The HD-DVD version of the 360 may be released to coincide with the PS3 launch for all we know.
Also, note that a direct Old Hebrew to Modern English translation is actually "You will not murder". There's far too much that tends to be lost in translation with these influential texts, especially when it relates to "The word of G-d" that so many people hold to be the truth.
My guess on this is to capture all of the people jaded by not getting a PS3 two days earlier... then again, that's pure speculation. :)
I've always been under the impression that the "CGI" people refer to when talking about special effects was for "Computer Generated Imagery".
Hmmm... I think that pr0n link is broken.

Painless like a stampede.
would you use windows if you had a choice?

Have you tried Inkscape?
Didn't he learn from the episode about Compuglobalhypermeganet?
And I just got done compiling 2.6.13!
