It would be illogical for us to think that we do not impact this planet with the things we do. and in the end its the pennies the make the dollars that make the 1000's that make millions and so every little bit counts.
We should consider that resource management for this world has a lot to do with it's health. I have written a number of Amiga Mods. I used octamed. I used instruments samples made myself from me playing an instrument and then recording myself into the computer- not sample other peoples stuff.But made my own sounds...And I plan to keep an eye out for people stealing my stuff....It takes a very long time to write Mods or even sit on the couch and write a song. Which brings me to another point.

Today on slash dot I read more and more companies are doing credit checks as a qualification to higher a candidate for a Job. I read that people have been turned down. Because of issues such as student loans and what not.
How wrong is that? Let see. You take a person who has been the victims of identity theft or is just starting out in life and you put this kind of barrier in front of them and how far are they going to get? You have prevented that person from improving his or her situation you have effectively said to them "have to pay all your bills before we let you out " you are making them prisoners. You are rejecting their goal to get out of debt and you are in fact creating more debt as a result of your illogical decision to discriminate based on financial issues.
You (companies that support this kind of policy )and others like you wonder why there is crime? Why things are the way they are. Well I say that putting ones credit on trial is a form of exclusion. A way to create a criminal. A person trying to get on top of his or her debt is being forced to take low paying jobs despite that they have the capacity for far greater things....Are those who disqualify people based on their credit not responsible in the least?
Who is the bigger criminal? Those who enforce this kind of policy or those who are the victim of this form of discrimination and commit crimes because they have no other recourse? Is it that we had to replace race sex and creed with yet a better way to segregate people. Credit....Which is bigotry my friends.
Example: Someone living in the ghetto that is poor might be able to rise up from their debt if you would give them a chance. Instead you choose to keep the poor where they are and only higher the middle class. And leave the poor in the ghetto. When you think about it pretty much everyone has an organizer now. Even dumb people. The cell phone has become a universal tool. Soon we will even have universal translators in them when the technology grows up a tad.
I have a ppc phone- battery life is great and when Im at the office I just plug in the ac adaptor- battery life on the ipod is superiour but I will take my hand held anyday as I can watch movies, play games,chat, make calls, surf sites that my company wont allow...
My ppc phone has records which I have transfered from over 4 generations of devices starting with my old casio to my lastest t-mobile device.
My first hand hand device was actually the casio fx700 g worked well in tech school...
then various other weird little calculator/organizer combos that sprung up. like the tandy hand held computer that had a keyboard that is the cover that folds out- pretty cool. then, or the casio organizer watch line(as a side note I had a casio watch that was a remote. I could go to a bar and shut off the game at some crucial moment and nearly cause a riot!funny!!!!!)...Later on I got the casio version of the first palm- not a bad little organizer. Never ran out of battery power!
Then the Philips nino- NIce little organizer. it was loaded with every program you could ever need..the cf slot was very usefull it had a very strong ir and I used it for a remote from time to time...
I moved up from there to the casio e100- nice little multi-media handheld- listened to a lot of mp3s on company time with my feet on my desk comforatble in my cubical while everyone else was prairy doggin...
Now I have the tmobile ppc phone...
As far as making a tricorder as someone said in here. Well there is a palm based tricorder that works and it would not take much to make adaptors for hand held devices to make them in to transportable research instruments...
THe ipod is nice but cell phones are the answere...apple needs to make an a cell/ppc combo if they want to stay in the game...

You are rejecting their goal to get out of debt and you are in fact creating more debt as a result of your illogical decision to discriminate based on financial issues.
You (companies that support this kind of policy )and others like you wonder why there is crime? Why things are the way they are.
Well I say that putting ones credit on trial is a form of exclusion. A way to create a criminal. A person trying to get on top of his or her debt is being forced to take low paying jobs despite that they have the capacity for far greater things....Are those who disqualify people based on their credit not responsible in the least?
Who is the bigger criminal? Those who enforce this kind of policy or those who are the victim of this form of discrimination and commit crimes because they have no other recourse? Is it that we had to replace race sex and creed with yet a better way to segregate people. Credit....Which is bigotry my friends.
Example: Someone living in the ghetto that is poor might be able to rise up from their debt if you would give them a chance. Instead you choose to keep the poor where they are and only higher the middle class. And leave the poor in the ghetto. Women , blacks people and the poor are victims of this kind of policy and it puts any company that upholds this kind of policy in the ranks of similar organizations such as the KKK.
I for one have been the victim of this kind of bigotry. And I will advise any company that wants to check my credit history that this is not allowed by me. My personal finances are my concern and have nothing to do with my work habits.
If crime has increased. If there are more desperate people on the streets and if drugs and poverty are everywhere. Then stop and think about the contributing factors. One of theme is this 'credit check before higher procedure'. It is not the main reason but it is a majority reason. And is further proof that bigotry is not dead!!!.
The majority of people who are poor are in debt. They are in debt because of employment availability to them... The ghetto is full of people who if given the chance to rise up and be somebody they would do great things. Yet this is a way of creating the 'haves and the have not's'. This is a way to pick though someone's personal issues and pry. To segregate and exclude. Everything that great men such as Martin Luther And John Lennon have fought for is being rejected here and we are seeing a trickle down theory in practice...Crumbs to the poor...Keep the poor where they belong beneath the rich....Amazing at how many Doctors out there have student loans they have not paid. Yet they seem immune to this kind of bigotry. Intolerance will be the end of us all.
There are a great many wrong things in this country. We have to ask ourselves what is coming next...

But I work in with broad band tech support and Im gonna tell ya mac users have more going on. MY ex-boy friend used to bash macs... I thought that was stupid because a computer is a computer. When you think about it pretty much everyone has an organizer now. Even dumb people. The cell phone has become a universal tool. Soon we will even have universal translators in them when the technology grows up a tad. I have a ppc phone- battery life is great and when Im at the office I just plug in the ac adaptor- battery life on the ipod is superiour but I will take my hand held anyday as I can watch movies, play games,chat, make calls, surf sites that my company wont allow... My ppc phone has records which I have transfered from over 4 generations of devices starting with my old casio to my lastest t-mobile device. My first hand hand device was actually the casio fx700 g worked well in tech school... then various other weird little calculator/organizer combos that sprung up. like the tandy hand held computer that had a keyboard that is the cover that folds out- pretty cool. then, or the casio organizer watch line(as a side note I had a casio watch that was a remote. I could go to a bar and shut off the game at some crucial moment and nearly cause a riot!funny!!!!!)...Later on I got the casio version of the first palm- not a bad little organizer. Never ran out of battery power! Then the Philips nino- NIce little organizer. it was loaded with every program you could ever need..the cf slot was very usefull it had a very strong ir and I used it for a remote from time to time... I moved up from there to the casio e100- nice little multi-media handheld- listened to a lot of mp3s on company time with my feet on my desk comforatble in my cubical while everyone else was prairy doggin... Now I have the tmobile ppc phone... As far as making a tricorder as someone said in here. Well there is a palm based tricorder that works and it would not take much to make adaptors for hand held devices to make them in to transportable research instruments... THe ipod is nice but cell phones are the answere...apple needs to make an a cell/ppc combo if they want to stay in the game...
Its really a case of whats available to eat... seems to me that when its dinnertime and all you have is spuds one day or canned ravioli the next you make due... Adaptability... And there was more than one designer btw...
They prob had it running windows for the os... I remember that windows 95 c had a warning about using it to opperate machinery and what not. All kidding aside...Partial success? hmm I think thats a case of 'glass is half empty- half full' and in my experience. There is win or loose no in between. LEt see, the football team that lost says "oh yea it was a partial win then we got our azzes kicked in the finaly half" Not that I like to use a football metaphore. so here is a better metaphore. "oops the nuclear bomb accidently went off and killed everyone before we could evacuate. but it was partial win we got all the computers shut down before the emp wave - a partial win"
