  1. Re:It's not a smartphone OS on Microsoft To Add Yet Another Smartphone OS This Year · · Score: 1

Correct this has little to do with Windows Mobile, and will never be put on any phone, I usually expect more Slashdoters to realize this is a B.S. article but so far only you.

What Sizzle? I don't hear anything, I usually can't tell the difference between 128 bit MP3 and anything else, but perhaps I'm deaf. I might prefer it because its small plays on any device, but I'm not (consciously at least) enjoying me some sweet sizzle cause I don't hear it.

I hate smug douches who brag about not watching or not even owning a TV, just because 90% of a medium is crap doesn't mean you throw it out, 90% of every medium is crap. TV just got a bad rap. It may be hard to believe with the giant shadow of reality TV blocking out the sun, but there are great TV shows. Dexter, Mad Men, Colbert, you get the idea.

Cable cards? Last time I checked, besides over the air or unencrypted HD, the only way devices that can record HD content from your cable or satellite provider is with a cable card. I think the opposite is true. Haven't they tried to force them to do this many times before and had lobbyists squash it? I think last time it was touted as more of a control thing, like parents can choose not to have some channel they don't want. I think your looking at it from too small of a scope, the telecom company, I mean companies, also sell advertising the more TV you watch they more money they make. If they could make more money doing it, they already would be.

  24. iPhone or EVDO? on Walt Mossberg Reviews the iPhone · · Score: 1

Which would you rather have? Personally I'd side with EVDO. It looks like almost all reviews are calling the iPhone a step forward, but besides subjective cool-looking-ness, and hype, nothing about it is a single step forward (i.e. not done before, but correct me if I'm wrong). However its data network is a step back from the cutting edge, and to me thats the most important part of a gadget phone.

That being said it does look like a lot of the things that it does, which have all been done before, seem to be done well, perhaps better than before (which yes I guess that is something never done before, or a step forward at least). Still if it had EVDO, it could be the best phone available today, if it had something better then it could be close to its hype.
