    Except that it would probably be cheaper in the long run. less time spent on incarceration, less time worrying about actual nuances of each individual case - just a checklist. Did x occur, was said extenuating circumstance present, click-done.

    I would like to think the difference would be that a revolutionary has specific targets - courts, military, seats of government, warmaking apparatus (Boeing, Lockheed, for example)

    I don't see how blowing up sidewalk cafes and city buses could EVER be counted as revolutionary.

    Actually, busting through the ice is hazardous to your launch mission, since you have to make a SHIT-TON of noise before you can ever open your missile hatches. The Soviets did this in the 80's and 90's with their boomers because there was literally no other place they could hide from the Los Angeles class attack submarines of the US Navy. You could hear them miles away.

    Ohio class SSBNs on the other hand, didn't have the same problem - I doubt you'll find any of them under an ice cap.

    Maybe I'm wrong - maybe you've been on a roving SSBN patrol under the Arctic. Maybe things have changed since I last did any reading about SSBN tactics 5 or so years ago.

    Hell, just advertising vs. Vonage could help them out, particularly their video conferencing functions. Paired with some slick devices, they would be poised to grow - plus they can be used from your iPhones/Androids.

    There's a lot of long-term upside to Skype, IMHO.

    Duress codes. The first "check-in" triggers the alarm that releases the unlock codes.

    Home security systems have these for when you're forced at gunpoint to turn off your house alarm. Entering the duress code triggers the alarm company to dispatch the police immediately, without calling the house for verification.

    I should tell you, the capability is already here. ADP and others involved in the Streamlined Sales Tax Initiative have done so, and it's been live since 2007. It's just a matter of time before it's mandatory everywhere there is a sales/use tax.

    Actually, they can. They are limited however, just as every other American is.

    However, they CAN spend money on their candidates behalf, without contributing directly to a campaign.

    I once took all my friends to task with Descent. I had a SpaceTec Avenger spaceball. 50% of them could spank me keyboard-to-keyboard playing Descent, but when I fired up the Spaceball, I destroyed them all. 3 axes of freedom let me perform maneuvers they could only dream about.

    So yes, I can see controllers being an issue, but this has more to do, I think, with Console controllers being designed for a specific kind of game, and not FPS shooters.

    While VB was many things, including obtuse, it's ability to extend itself through IDispatch was arguably it's strongest feature, making it far more extensible an environment than many in production today. The biggest downfall to VB was the myriad of VBA environments in Microsoft products - that were all slightly different, and a simple change from one version of Office to the next could break a truckload of applications - that's what sucked about VB.

    There can be no third state? I'm "NEVER" going to have a misfire?

    And by misfire I mean pointing the gun somewhere it shouldn't be and it "accidently" goes off scaring the piss out of you, and or injuring or destroying something.

    I do believe that checking the link light is the easiest thing to do first. If it's amber (10/100m) when it should be green (1gbit), then you know what the problem is.

    Why wouldn't it though? You get economies of scale if you can can site 1-200 GW of power in one place and do refining work there. This country already has an amazing fuel distribution network - if you can make volatile hydrocarbons, you just build nuke farms instead of oil refineries - these can easily be located away from peoples backyards. It's only load power you want close to the point of use to reduce transmission losses.

    This is not what I want my mom to be doing in her retirement!

    Why not? Farmville *CAN* be intellectually challenging - how best to pick my crops to maximize the time-value of my "land" so that I can buy virtual trinkets. It allows for logic and skill-based tasks to help reward ourselves with desirable things.

    There's a reason it's so addictive.

    There's also a reason I stopped playing it. 3 hours managing a farm everyday was just a timesink I couldn't afford.

    I don't think they're in the wrong here. I'd be willing to bet 50% of more of the posters there were on the forums simply to troll Apple - they're not offering anything constructive, and we all know better than to feed trolls. Look at this article as an example of the bashing I bet Apple was taking. Of course you try to control the message - not every phone is defective - they're offering to take them back no charge - why continue to bash them? Publicly? On their own forums?

    Microsoft controls the message, IBM controls the message, hell, even Slashdot controls the message to a degree. How many people ever browse at -1, even the moderators?

    But Apple gets called out on it. Good grief.
