"Many Christians themselves, not to mention those who don't know much about the religion (no offense, but the majority of/.)"
Um, don't you mean the majority of Christians? Most people, in my experience, are sheep and will believe whatever the priest, pastor, etc tell them instead of finding out for themselves. Not to mention the fact that you have the KJV of the bible...can anyone explain that to me? As far as I understand it, King James said that "God" told him that the bible was written wrong and he needed to correct it. If that were the case, why the hell did God wait so damn long to fix it?
You're both wrong! The mark of the beast is 999! Satan (Or is that Santa) is upside down! But wait, what if I'm in Peru? Then am I upside down and Satan is right-side up? Damnit! Christianity is too confusing. I'm going to bed.
There is a way, at least on Windows, to "protect" the hidden volume while writing data to the outer volume. The hidden volume must be unmounted at the time, IIRC.
"you don't have to do any special tricks to get this working anymore. It's 2007."
Um...did you fail to notice that this patent was applied for in 1998, and granted in 2001. (not to mention that it has been 2008 for almost 33 full days:) ) Not that I am defending TIVO, but if that is the case and the patent is valid, then they should still receive patent protection for the normal allotted time frame (is that 14 years?) Of course this seems trivial and obvious to us in 2008, but think back to last decade...I don't know about you, but at that time I was still hoping for a Pentium 133Mhz (I being in college and poor).
Where I am all we will have left is Circuit City and Best Buy. CompUSA was at least good for selection and odds 'n' ends (fans, etc) It is too bad that prices were/are so high. The same DVD recorder was $25 higher in CompUSA (yes, it was a retail box online) It is sad any time a competitor closes its doors; Always bad for the consumer.
Um....hmmm...maybe, just maybe the form is generic and not made especially for you. I know that it may be difficultly to comprehend, but old people do go through customs as well. Sorry for the inconvenience, and please, try not to answer "yes" next time.
But...But...But...doesn't the FBI warning tell me that the Video Cassette/Video Disc/Whatever is licensed for home use only and if I even attempt to view it with anyone except/including my immediate family then I will be fined $1,000,000,000....sent to ass-raping prison...sentenced to death or all three?
Of course Americans don't use Imperial units. Imperial units didn't exist until 1824, far after the American Revolution. Americans use something closer to the English system. We could use the metric system but then how could we confuse all of the foreigners who come and visit? Actually, the US is more "Soft Metric". Most things are labeled with metric in parentheses.... 12oz (355mL)
I've heard rumors that someday this will be reversed......
Oddly enough, Soda is frequently labeled in metric here....wierd.
It might not be "new" but it wasn't always this way. I do remember drives that were labeled in the "correct" binary values. Of course it has been a while, the last drive I can absolutely remember is my WD 525MB drive (being 525.7MB or something). Manufacturers are just trying to get something (our money) for nothing (missing drive capacity) and to make themselves look better and more productive. Consumers also have something to do with this. We are never happy with the latest and greatest. We will always demand more capacity, speed, etc.
Microsoft could not care less about the "people". They care about their shareholders and no one else....just like every other publicly held company (not that i like MS).
If you read Linus' early posts about the Linux kernel you will notice that he had originally licensed it under its own license. He didn't switch to the GPL until later. It is hard to say whether or not Linux would have taken off without the GPL. It probably would have been fine using a BSD userland even if a userland wasn't quite available yet. In fact, if the kernel wasn't now so dependant on the GNU userland (binutils, glibc, etc.) it would be pretty easy to usethe BSD userland. (I can't recall if there was a BSD lisenced userland in existance in 1991)
Ummm...No...have you looked at an NTFS or FAT partition lately? Mine fragments all of the time. Maybe someday they will get it right....when they stop writting their own...mayhe.
Did anyone bother to see what the updated files are for? No? It is an update to the Windows Update software. Not any "core" files, but essential if you want Windows Update or Automatic Updates to ever be able to check for updates. These files are version 381, I am sure the same thing happened when they updated to version 374 and I bet no one noticed then....why?....because it isn't an issue. If you don't want the automatic updates then you wouldn't have the service running. No service running, no updates are downloaded. It is a simple as that.
It is a Windows defrag program. The download is about 300KB and it works great! They also have a background defrager called BuzzSaw that is also about 300KB http://www.dirms.com/
That is funny; I just went to the Apple store and was able to get all the way to the final order confirmation and there was no mention of selecting an AT&T plan nor did it ask you to affirm that you would get a plan. On the Apple store product page http://tinyurl.com/26hmdz it mentions that you need a 2-year contract to use the phone, however, if you unlock your phone I can see no reason to sign up for an AT&T service plan.
Usually when you "buy" a phone (in the US at least) you are getting a discount in exchange for a lengthy contract. If you don't want the contract you buy the phone outright and can do anything you want with it. This is the same issue that the auto industry had at one point. Manufacturers did not want 3-party parts sold and didn't want people to fix their own vehicles. The auto industry was pretty much shot down. Unless you are breaking a law, ie: modifying a phone to output a stronger signal, you can do as you please with any item you own. That is not to say that you can not be held liable if you do something to an item you own and it ends up damaging someone else's property or another person.
I for one want to see OpenJDK succeed. You see, I run Linux on a SPARC box. Guess What....I don't have any recent version of Java. There was Blackdown, but even that hasn't been updated in a while...license issues I believe.
This will only work until the RIAA manages to make it illegal to resell CDs without proper compensation to themselves. Of course they will call it a "license to resell" or some such other BS and I am sure that the artists won't see a dime of that. For now I suggest buying used CDs and sending the artist a check. At least then you won't be screwing the artist while sticking it to the RIAA.

oh where are my mod points?!

CmdrTaco's Law: You will never have mod points when someone posts something intelligent, only when morons post something stupid.
:)
So, if I had the mod points I had 2-3 days ago you would have one

So basically....don't use NSI for domain lookups. Use someone else. Maybe a company that won't try to screw you.

I am an American and yet it still astounds me that everyone thinks that US law is the only one. Weird
Customers!=people who give them money
Customers=Shareholders

Wow...someone who remembers veronica.....but where did archie go?
Just look at all of these old foggies comming out of the woodwork :)

man, if you have an ENTIRE CAN of coke then I think they can get you for intent to sell. We all know that a serving is only 8oz.
