Same thing here in Spain... we had massive anti-war protests here and for weeks on end everybody would go out on the street at 8pm and bang frying pans with spoons to make a huge noise all over the city.
Did anybody listen? Nope. It took a change of government to get us out of Iraq.
(But hey, at least the 'democracy' part worked in the long term...)
I once did a debugging session that long...from Thursday morning in the 'til Monday morning when CeBIT opened its doors. Most of the time was in the CeBIT exhibition hall living on scavenged canapes from Sun's stand (next door to ours).
Everybody said I looked a mess but I don't remember feeling too bad.
The pilot studies in South Africa show that pebble bed reactors acn abe built for $800 to $1000 per kilowatt. A 4mW reactor could be built for around $4 million and they could completely disconnect themselves from the grid.
I think thy're only talking about killing individual web sites.
(Obviously they never heard of the Streisand effect but that's another story - I can't wait for the first politician to use this to try to remove pictures of himself in a public washroom. Oh, how the world will laugh...).
There's millions of Toyota's out there being driven billions of miles per year. If it was a bug in the program there'd be a *lot* more cases on file.
Nope, this is something far more random. Cosmic rays is actually plausible. If there's a design fault it's that the system doesn't have enough redundancy in it
(disclaimer: I don't know how much there is, even triple redundancy can fail if you clock up enough hours for the statistics to do their thing).

...except it hasn't been removed for "safety", it's been removed because the manufacturer thinks it looks prettier with only four seats.
I think *he's* the one who needs investigating and/or educating.
Atari Star Wars was colored vectors, how did that work?

What if the child was to fall while you were rescuing him? Who knows what sort of trouble you could get into.
Knowing this, would you volunteer to help him down? Would you feel comfortable telling somebody else to get him down...?
The days of "loco parentis" are long dead. Long live the lawyers!
Would you have known they were camera/tripod if you saw a screenshot without being told what they were?
The keyboards on an EEE PC are 90% of full size. If there's a problem it's because you're looking for one, not because it's really there.
It's not an "exception", it's all part of the "Bell Curve".
If you're looking for it, selective memories will surely show the world to be full of "smart smokers".
Statistics, OTOH will prove you wrong.
...we're aware of the existence of bell curves. Thanks.
...it's a sure thing. Bonus points for piercings, etc.
Then again, who wants to poke girls like that?
If I use Google search inside Internet Explorer then Google gets the exact same info, right?
(And let's face it, I"m not using Bing...)
How is this different than using Google search inside Internet Explorer?
Yep. MY first thought when reading this was: "Oh, great, now every asshole driver out there can self-label himself as a 'supertasker'".
(And also immediately add the word 'supertasker' to his/her resume, one assumes...I know I'm going to!)

Yes, they pour apricot yogurt down my chimney every night when I'm asleep. Bastards.
The courthouse probably has wifi...
Thanks to recent attacks 256 bit AES is now weaker than 128 bit AES.
Just saying.
And as others are pointing out, a crypto system is like a chain - you attack the weakest link (and the weakest link isn't usually the algorithm).
Came here to see this and am leaving satisfied.
Um .... have they heard about DRM?
I don't buy the "poor programming" thing.

It's actually plausible...but good luck selling this to Joe Public.
PS: This sort of thing is why they use triple-redundant computers on aircraft. Is there a reason why cars aren't doing the same thing?
You can mix OpenGL and DirectX, no problem.
I write programs which use OpenGL and Direct3D at the same time.
