    Same thing here in Spain ... we had massive anti-war protests here and for weeks on end everybody would go out on the street at 8pm and bang frying pans with spoons to make a huge noise all over the city.

    Did anybody listen? Nope. It took a change of government to get us out of Iraq.

    (But hey, at least the 'democracy' part worked in the long term...)

    I once did a debugging session that long...from Thursday morning in the 'til Monday morning when CeBIT opened its doors. Most of the time was in the CeBIT exhibition hall living on scavenged canapes from Sun's stand (next door to ours).

    Everybody said I looked a mess but I don't remember feeling too bad.

    The pilot studies in South Africa show that pebble bed reactors acn abe built for $800 to $1000 per kilowatt. A 4mW reactor could be built for around $4 million and they could completely disconnect themselves from the grid.

    Knowing this, would you volunteer to help him down? Would you feel comfortable telling somebody else to get him down...?

    Thanks to recent attacks 256 bit AES is now weaker than 128 bit AES.

    Just saying.

    And as others are pointing out, a crypto system is like a chain - you attack the weakest link (and the weakest link isn't usually the algorithm).

    I don't buy the "poor programming" thing.

    There's millions of Toyota's out there being driven billions of miles per year. If it was a bug in the program there'd be a *lot* more cases on file.

    Nope, this is something far more random. Cosmic rays is actually plausible. If there's a design fault it's that the system doesn't have enough redundancy in it

    (disclaimer: I don't know how much there is, even triple redundancy can fail if you clock up enough hours for the statistics to do their thing).

    It's actually plausible...but good luck selling this to Joe Public.

    PS: This sort of thing is why they use triple-redundant computers on aircraft. Is there a reason why cars aren't doing the same thing?

    You can mix OpenGL and DirectX, no problem.

    I write programs which use OpenGL and Direct3D at the same time.
