If they can avoid building just one new power station with this then that's umpteen billions dollars less tax that people will have to pay....but they'll complain anyway because it's seen as an environmentalist/hippie thing, and they know for sure all those climatologists are wrong so they have to make a stand on principle.
They're not doing it to save you money. They're doing it to save the earth.
'cos there's only one Earth, and you're supposed to leave it in better condition then you found it. That way the history books won't point to the "SUV era" as a bunch of greedy, self centered morons. Perhaps the first generation who had full knowledge of what was going down ecologically, but did absolutely nothing to change their obesity-driven lifestyle.
The perfect framerate is the one which your display device can show without noticable flickering. Any more than that is a complete waste of time (and looks worse).
In a cinema it's 24fps, on a CRT it's 75-80fps, on LCDs it's 60fps.
The networks also link the exact same people to well adjusted, middle aged Caucasians.
Weirdly enough, this positive influence doesn't seem to be mentioned in the study.
*Everything* was dangerous in those times if you didn't eat it within half an hour of killing it. Why was pork singled out?
Besides, I live in a country which currently gets 1/3 of it's electricity from wind power ... so my rants are probably carbon neutral. [emoticon]
Who said anything about "replacing"? This applies to new sets, not existing ones.
Yep.

If the energy I use today can save ten times that in the future, I'll rant for as long as it takes.
No it isn't. Planet Earth is everybody's business.
Step up and be a man, not a spoiled brat.
So? Nobody's forcing you to throw out your old TV, just making the new ones more efficient.
10% of your TV's consumption goes when it's in "standby" mode. reducing that won't impact your lifestyle, will it?
(assuming you actually switch it off once in a while...)

LOL!
24fps has never been true for computers.

Mod parent up. You can bet the RIAA, et. al., are already all over this, searching for suitable "grassroots" speakers.
If a few SD cards leaves you confused...
Presumably they'll only let "qualified" people make accusations, ie. they'll ignore the likes of you and me.
Sure, "some"...
But a ten-to-one ratio? Not likely.
You think all 90,000 Microsoft employees are programmers?
I doubt if even ten percent of them are. Most will be middlemen and general hangers-on.
There's a thing called "flashblock"... google for it.
Anything with flashing colors or animation is going to get blocked by me.
Anything which causes the page to take twice as long to load (eg. loading Javascript from a dozen different sites)? Blocked.
First failure of the day...
This year has a leap-second. Maybe that's the problem.
Next up, Windows Vista...
It might be the DRM code, in which case "suicide" is appropriate.
I heard it's only the ones which have squirted a lot.
They could charge different rates for different vehicles.
Do I believe they'll put SUVs in a higher tax-band? That's another story.
Doesn't sound very plausible to me.
Huh? It must have been more work for the programmer to show a message than to strip out the spaces.
Model M IS awesome.
And these days you can get USB space saver versions. In black.
