  1. Re:PS3 - Worst Console Ever on Adverts Coming To Xbox 360 Achievements · · Score: 1

I'll give you a couple of those, except

'Noisy as hell'? Have you ever been near a working PS3?
'Disc Scratching'? I'd need a source on that one.

I have both. Price is not an issue (other than the fact they are both expensive). My Xbox with wireless/live sub/rechargable battery totalled more than my PS3 which comes with those things included in the price. I haven't bought the HD drive add-on yet, but if I do, it will make the price difference greater than the difference between a 360 core and a premium PS3, and I still won't be able to play HDDVD's in 1080p, due to a lack of HDMI.

And MS *are* ripping people off for peripherals. The Logitech DFP steering wheel I bought for my PS2 will work perfectly with my PS3. It won't work properly on a 360 though. You need to buy MS's wheel for any force feedback. You need to buy the MS wireless adaptor, too, despite it being a USB device. And don't get me started on hard drives.

Also, my 3 month old 360 has been crashing a lot lately, telling me I need to wipe my pristine copy of Forza with a soft cloth, or make sure it's actually in the drive.

Microsoft definitely won in the early release stakes, but you can tell the hardware was rushed out. A win-lose situation, really. The things they missed are a shame, and proof that the PS3 team were thinking far further ahead. Built-in wifi, Bluetooth, HD disc format, easily replaceable hard drives, you can buy anything with the right interface format, and just plug it in.

All that said, of the two, I currently play the XBox more, because of Forza2. But on the hardware front, I'm not blind to the fact that it is a piece of shit, and I'll probably have a different unit within 6 months.

The only good side I can see to these achievements is to judge the age of a particular gamertag. In theory, it stops people from a lot of fucking around in online games.

Take Forza 2 for instance. Your main GT is the one you use to play through the game, and unlock all the goodies/cars/money. If you want to fuck around and wind people up online, you have to switch to another GT. To play with your car of choice, you either have to level up the new GT, or send your car over from your other account. For a lot of retards, this is far too difficult a proposition.

GT5 will look better, that's a given, but Forza plays like a dream, online play is seamless, and the tuning options are legion.

    I got both.

The PS3 is a better piece of hardware by a large margin. Most of the things I need are default (HDMI/Wi-Fi/HDD/Wireless controllers/bluetooth) and the whole thing seems to be well put together. It's quiet, and it matches the rest of my AV setup (black). 3rd party hardware addons are well supported (wheels/headsets, and you can put any size/brand HDD in the thing.

The 360 is noisy, and was only cheap because of the things that you have to buy as addons (rechargable batteries for controllers/wifi/Live! gold). Cheap, however, covers my opinion of the hardware itself. The dvd drive sounds like it's trying to take off. The power supply is external, huge and hot. It looks like a panty shield too, which is only made worse by the fact that's it's white. Oh, no HDMI either, which means I won't be getting the HD-DVD addon, as I will be limited to 1080i. The HDD was also non-default, so most games aren't written to take full advantage of one. Microsoft are total wankers for upgrades though. Only the microsoft wheel will have full functionality, only the MS wifi adapter will work, gay, gay, gay, etc.

Hardware aside though, the 360 kicks the PS3 in the balls for online integration. It's seamless. I was constantly amazed by how well they managed this.

Desktops are personal preference, but I think the XMB has the upper hand.

The rest is just down to small things, like streaming music from my PC when playing 360 games, and most games recognising the fact, and happily coexisting with my tunes. I'm sure the PS3 will pick itself up in this area, but so far, it has not.

Choice of games is still an issue for the PS3, but it will be picking up over the course of this year, and until then, I have Forza Motorsport to occupy my time. Resistance still gets more net play that Gears though, due to the ability to get a 20v20 TDM game in a huge map.

So, in closing, I'm very fond of both of them, but for different reasons.

And in the end they both cost the same. (this includes live gold/wifi/rechargable battery for wireless controller, but not the actual recharger).

I don't know if this is still possible. I've just started buying HD movies from the US because they're cheaper, and actually exist in decent quantities. the 20-30 titles you can get in this country are 90% crap, too. I even managed to get the Planet Earth Bluray (A BBC production) from the states before it's even released over here. And probably cheaper than it will be here, too. The same goes on with Beer runs to France/Germany, and cigarette imports from pretty much anywhere else in the world.

Having these sort of payouts go to a single person is crazy, and only encourages lazy people to get sue-happy in the hopes of getting a jackpot payout.
