    A story like this would not have made a headline on Slashdot if it didn't involve Google.

    You forgot it also involves Microsoft. If only it also involved Linux, we'd have the Slashdot Trifecta!

    Well, I agree about the color scheme. But what I was aiming at is if you have an all-encompassing theme to your site, and the standard objects don't fit it (ie. the color or shape doesn't work), it'd be nice to be able to change it. The site I couldn't find that I was thinking of has absolutely everything rounded and shaded in a white/grey 3d effect. On such a site, a standard checkbox would look very out of place. If the color scheme were different, a standard radio button might also look out of place. It's just about cohesiveness.

    I'm sure there are better examples, but basically when there is a theme to the website, the standard objects can disrupt the flow. In that above example, this can sort of be seen with the searchboxes.
