How is using a modded iPod (they can't record out of the box) different from using a tape recorder? The hard disk?
In the discussion of making copies of lectures, it's something that's widely available, and in some cases provided to students by the school. That gives everyone the means and ability to do it. So more people are more likely to do it than before.
One more nice feature would be the ability to copy back from the player to the computer. This Sony and even the Ipod have no simple way of doing this with the tools they provide.
Is this really new information? Those IBM ads for their consulting services have been on for a long time now, and the more recent commercials even tout these services as the new (side of) IBM.
From how I read it, they're not providing more extensions, but new products of their own (that somehow integrate?). As for extensions, they are increasing the resources available to the developers in the way of servers and bandwith and tech support.
From TFA: While Round Two--formerly known as MozSource--puts the finishing touches on its own products, the company is sponsoring development of several other Firefox extensions.
Round Two is providing developers of these extensions with technical resources including Web servers, bandwidth, project management resources and some financial support.
While the article is quite vague, it doesn't seem like they're making people pay for extensions that were previously free. That's regarding their products. They are just increasing resources for the existing extensions. At least that's how I read it.
Doing some sort of dictionary word check could easily cause such an email to be flagged as spam. Just have a threshold for number of misspelled words for a legitimate email, and this email wouldn't get through.
IANADoctor, but it would seem to me that the sterile environment means you have less antibodies, meaning you are more susceptible to getting sick more often, but that it will not change how long said illness will last. It's just less likely that you have the antibodies for the germs you come into contact with.
A solution like the laser keyboard could be ideal for the situation, though it will be a while before the cost comes down. Since it projects onto a surface, the table/counter could be cleaned easily.

The Slashbomb has been set! Run away before the deluge of comments drown you! Oh, the humanity!
Looks like they didn't just wing it with the ipods. Some courses have projects making use of them. (Last semester too)

You'd rush too if you were falling rapidly towards the ground :)
Well, that's kind of cool. But the real question is: Can they slow down time?

I was off by a bit. They're calling it the other IBM, not new.

Sorry, I guess my standard Slashdot paranoia is out to lunch :)

Were you trying to look near Windsor, Connecticut?
2 C+CT&site=local&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&c 2coff=1&btnG=Google+Search
The location parses to Windsor%2 C on according to google, and that's an unrecognizable location.
Try this instead: http://www.google.com/xhtml?q=Pizza&near=Windsor%
How long do you think you could stare at the floor before falling over/vomiting/having a seizure? I'm going with 15 minutes.

Perhaps I'm speaking too soon, but the server seems to be holding up quite well. Got it at 60k/s.
So I imagine the NASA engineer would play the role of the giant rolling boulder then? :)

Seriously, anyone who has seen any movies knows you have to replace the things you took with elaborate replicas or holograms.
Nothing. Everyone knows those are counterfeit.

Someone needs to wake up the execs that be and get this show on the air before we look like complete morons.
With the current state of US TV programming (with few exceptions) it is too late for that.
