  1. It's becoming very obvious that traditional methods of protest don't work as quickly as we need on this topic. Why not just do a mass cancellation of service and show these corps that we have that control over them? We all have internet on our phones, if there were more than enough Comcast or TWC customers calling in to cancel their service that would really show those corp-o-thugs who owns who.

Also, to answer one of your questions, I don't believe all devs need to be rockstars at any single moment. If they want to reach for "rockstar" status, they need to be willing to learn and engage themselves in their work. They need to be willing to listen to those that are senior to them and they need to be able to bring something to the table that helps the team overall.

The term "rockstar" is subjective and only douchebags use it. You could be considered a rockstar because you say you are bringing those around you "up" and are probably doing that by learning and training others about what you learn. You may not know how to develop something in a way when you start but you can learn and apply it when you do. I f-ing hate terminology like that.

  12. Re:Absolutely! Down with 'used' products! on What Happens To Your Used Games? · · Score: 1

Relatively speaking, it is the same exact thing. To a 13 year old, buying a video game is just like a 30 year old buying a car. Relatively, to a 13 year old, that video game has just as much value as a car does to a 30 year old. It doesn't matter that the car costs 500-1000 times more than the game, the principal behind it is the same. Regarding your comment on the financing, there are people out there that do consider financing video games in bulk, maybe included in a package deal with a TV or something, but the games are still included in that financing. Not probably, but still possible. On the other hand, publishers could argue that the code on the physical media is licensed and not owned by the consumer. But the way around it, I think, is for consumers and Gamestop to say they are selling/buying the physical media and not the code on it. Who knows, its just the publishers trying to squeeze every penny out even if it isn't possible just like the publishers in the RIAA have been doing for the last decade.

Yeah. Google doesn't because its bad for business. For Facebook, there may be backlash from the regular (no pedophilic) community, but dumbed down because they say this is being used to catch pedophiles and criminals and not to just randomly read up on peoples conversations. Then again, most people on Facebook don't care about privacy and like to have their thoughts seen (the Wall).

"..makes the body resistant to the effects of heroin, so users would no longer get a rush of pleasure when they smoked or injected it." So they are still addicted and will feel the withdrawal effects and will then start smoking/injecting more of the substance.

Throwing someone in prison here for theft is the same as chopping off a hand of a thief in the old Iraq, relatively speaking. I'm sure people there who respect their laws are saying us Americans are a bunch of pussies for throwing people in prison instead of more serious punishments.
