You are assuming that all gamers are concerned with performance. I think the Wii sales alone indicate otherwise, as it is admittedly the least formidable in this category.

People choose to use Nintendo's console because it is fun to play.

I still play my N64, which is 10 years old itself, and quite enjoy it for the very same reason. Many others will tell you that the SNES is still their favorite system.

Vivendi owns Blizzard, though Blizzard has some kind of "don't fuck with our development" clause that basically allows them free reign on their own projects. The new company will be owned in majority by Vivendi, as major shareholder.

The overlords stay the same. It's just some new underlings ;) It would seem that Blizzard Entertainment, as it is proposed, "...a division of Activision Blizzard.." will remain just as it is now. Hopefully.

Diablo and WOW are impressive feats. I don't think we will see another WOW for some time. Its one of those seminal moments in gaming history, when a company just "got it right". It was the right game at the right time. Pretty much the same with Diablo. I doubt they can do it three times but they might just be the only people do so. I think you may be forgetting StarCraft, which has sold more copies than Diablo and Diablo II combined.

Things that were predicted about atomic interaction were proved true much later. I assure you that scientists do not assume something is completely true without rigorous attempts at discounting its nature, and atomic theory as it is presented today is generally fully accepted worldwide. Of course, there are still things we don't understand, but we wouldn't try to slap a name on them and call it factual at the first sign. That's medieval.
