Don't even mention that. When you lose your stuff because the server crashed and you wound up naked due to a bug, tough luck, you're screwed. If you find some way to get free stuff due to a bug and they find out, tough luck, you're screwed.
Flawed analogy, some MMORPGs are way worse than banks.
Not really. Canonical/Fedora/Gentoo/TPB give me stuff for free, so I chip in with bandwidth. I don't like Blizzard doing that, if I'm already paying $15/mo they should at least host the thing on their own servers. Same for microsoft, if I'm paying it, they should distribute it properly instead of counting on me to do it.
I have looked at Rockbox, but if I can't sync with my player and have smart playlists that update themselves when I star/unstar songs (my main organization method on the iPod), it's going to be a bit cumbersome.
I have found that ml_ipod for Winamp is the best thing to manage your iPod with (and iTunes might be the worst piece of crap after RealPlayer). ml_ipod does anything I could ask for (except for unicode filenames:/), and if you don't need the advanced stuff, pmp_ipod which ships with winamp is also great.
What a misleading article... I have a BitTorrent client for my mobile phone called SymTorrent (there's also a Gnutella one, Symella). I think it's open source, too, but it only runs on symbian. Still, pretty handy (I don't know for what, but I'm sure it'll prove to be some day!)
God, I wish everyone would just switched over to OpenID and be done with it. One password for everything? Sign me up! (Well, I already have). Now I'm just waiting/hoping it'll gain critical mass and start being implemented into every site.
Well, I don't know about that... I can't think of four programs that will use 100% of the cpu and need to run concurrently, all I can think of is movie encoding, and I won't be running four (or three) simultaneously...
Well, right now in my house there are 4 devices that can play DVD (3 PCs and a DVD player), but one you can do sports with (wiimote). When I first got it I lost sensation of my right arm and started using the left one until that was gone too. None of my DVD players did that.
(It was from Wii Tennis, not masturbation, so there go all the replies)
Really? Here (Greece) every store has one or two, it's relatively unknown here (everyone knows the PS, maybe the xbox), but when they play a game of Wii tennis everyone wants to go buy one, so I'm betting everyone will know it before long on viral marketing alone.
you'd get killed once every 19,000 years This is the kind of optimism slashdot needs. Not only does the parent suggest you can die multiple times, but deaths are also 19,000 years apart!
Somewhat out of topic, isn't it funny how the EXACT SAME post is instantly turned from Flamebait to Insightful if you add "I am ?" It's as if people outside the group can't offer insightful criticism, but only biased flames.
(I am a slashdot moderator).
Mod me insightful! BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

...Ubuntu? If so, I would like one. Also, what's the screen resolution, does anyone know?
It would be like going up tiny tiny stairs.

Well, it's a good thing that Australia isn't based in the US...
Hey, that's a rather nice 3D rendering of a laptop. If it exists, why didn't they just photograph it?
Not if your plan was to kill 100 million people?!
It's a meta-personal attack!

He was on reddit...
This reminds me: If you haven't, read Ender's Game. It's a great book (although I imagine most here have).

The part about doors is not correct, even if they open outwards they are designed in such a way that they are impossible to open in altitude.
That's true, most airplanes crash on the ground.
That does it. I'm getting my heart nailed in place!
Damn you, Slashdot. That should read "I am [a member of the group I'm criticising]".

I was kind of absent-minded, just running a new screensaver and seeing a BSOD. Only later did I realize what the screensaver was supposed to do :P
