  1. Re:Well, actually... on Google Targets TV Advertising · · Score: 1

Not really better that the show it's interrupting, otherwise you'd switch channels looking for more ads when the show interrupted them. You just need them to not be annoying.

  2. Well, actually... on Google Targets TV Advertising · · Score: 1

You would need ALL ads to be entertaining for that to work. If the program you were watching switched to ads and they were entertaining, you wouldn't think of switching, but then if one lame ad came on, you'd think "wtf, why am I watching this?" and flip the channel. So, one guy will have ruined it for the rest of them (the ads after that one might have been great too).

  4. Re:Two mice. on The Future & History of the User Interface · · Score: 1

No, I meant it's more natural than one mouse and easier to implement than the multiple-point touch screen. Of course, the latter would be ideal, but until we get it, two mice would be a good solution. You could just have pointers with different colours, then noone would get confused. Or, even better, one would point to the right and one to the left.

  5. Two mice. on The Future & History of the User Interface · · Score: 2, Insightful

Seriously. Most of that stuff can be done with two mice. Why hasn't anyone implemented that yet? Just grab the image from the ends and drag to resize, or drag one end to rotate, or whatever. Two mice would be much more natural. Sure, you'd probably use the one in your good hand more, but for some stuff it would be great (perhaps handling 3D models?).

This contest doesn't make sense, if they find a vulnerability, it's some bad PR, but, well, how many vulnerabilities have been found and patched for XP? If they don't, it still doesn't mean it's unhackable, it just means they need more time.

The only case where they DO work is when you're asking people to crack encryption, and then it's only CRACKING it that proves something, saying that noone could crack it doesn't mean it's uncrackable.
