Language does evolve. It is not because some
stupid rules were adopted at one time that
they should remain. People decide how they
will speak and if they so choose the language
changes and so will the rules.
That rules of the gender choice is illogical
and should be as we do in French and Spanish
which is whatever sounds the best according
to the way the words are spelled. A "table" is
feminine while a "lit" is masculine.
I should have used the expression "beer brewed for
the American market". Manufacturers will produce
products that they think people will buy.
I would be surprised if the beer La Maudite
sold in the US is the same as the one sold
in Québec.
One thing we should seriously think about
importing from Québec is Poutine. Any of you
who have never tasted this great food are missing
a lot.

The place where it's brewed doesn't make much
difference. The stores here import Molson beer
from Ontario but that beer sucks. It is made for
the US and doesn't compare with the beer sold in
Québec.
I have never seen "La Maudite" beer here in
Michigan. Which states has it and is it the
same as the one sold in Québec?
People here like weak beer and that is what
is being sold. French Canadians like strong beer,
This is a labor law violation. As an engineer
working on salary I am free after hours. For
people paid hourly the laws are clear that
after 40 hours you must get overtime pay.
Keep in mind though that people who sue
their employer rarely get hired when new
potential employers find out about it.
You should look for another job if you can't
convince your employer to treat you correctly.
Bringing lawyers into this may just hurt
your future employment. Most employers will
have nothing to do with employees who sue
their employer.
In college in the 60s we were still using
vacuum tubes. I would guess that your
cellular telephone would be a little
hard to carry. You forgot that part
in your text.
An other issue would be cost. I don't
think anyone in the general public would
have been able to afford it. For one thing
the persons who would be willing to carry
those around would have to be morons and
the numbers would have been relatively
small thus a very high cost.
In the early 80s when the electronic started
to be smaller for those transmitter/receivers
the cost was still very high.
Win XP isn't out yet. Once it's out you'll
see a rebirth of the slowed down PC industry
as people will have to buy new computers more
often.
Win XP, the ideal bloated OS + forced obsolescence. Considering that most people
think that they get a free os with a computer,
when the video card or hard disk dies they'll
buy a new PC to get a new license of Win XP.
This is bullshit. Million of people have satellite
receivers and you have to plug it to the phone
to keep your service and we have pay per view.
The problem with divx is that the CDs wouldn't
work unless you pay extra. When I buy a tape
or a CD it is to keep it and watch it again.
This is why I refused to buy divx and perhaps
the same reason a lot of other Americans choose
not to buy them.
It is not much different than the fraudulent
business called rent to own where you
rent furniture for several times what it is
worth.
Software for rent from microsoft will target
the same kind of morons who think they get
a good deal with "rent to own".
Why should you always look for a complex
solution to a problem. Most of the time
in life simple solutions are what is needed.
Ask any programmer looking for bugs. Very often
he'd be looking for big bugs when the bug
was a wrong bit or a wrong byte.
Here the problem is very obvious but you
go past it without realizing that it is
the same thing. Just removing your winblows
and installing something good like Linux will
fix all your nightmares about Microsoft bringing
you in the poor house.
I have yet to see any practical advantage of
winblows over Linux.
This is not quite the same. SuSE is well
established and those who are familiar with
SuSE are willing to pay what is necessary
to get it.
This place (which I've never heard of before)
is shooting themselves in the feet as virtually
no one has had an opportunity to check them
out. No one in his or her right mind is going
to put $15 out for something that it's not even
sure to work when you can get something that
works for $1.99 at Cheapbytes or go to Walmart
or Staples and get a distribution with books
for $25
The thing is, subscriptions are just being realistic - if you pretend that you're still going to be using those P3's running Office xxxx in 5 years time, you're wrong
You are correct in assuming that I won't be using
Office xxxx in 5 years time. The odds that I get
get drunk enough to boot winblows and run Office
are rather low. Even if I did try I would have
a problem since I have never been stupid enough
to buy it.
The reality behind program subscriptions is that
it is a scheme to screw us big time.
And if you think that at any time in the future
that Linux would be for rent only, you must
have sniffed some flour.
There is a key on the right side of the keyboard
that says NumLock. What is wrong with using that?
To give up an OS because it doesn't seem to
support some obnoxious script is baffling to
say the least. Unless you're plagued with an
AZERTY keyboard I don't see much use to have
that damm NumLock forced on you on boot.

>No other distribution even comes close to Mandrake in this respect,
Was that meant to be a joke?
I tried Mandrake and got pissed at its winblows
"The user is a moron" mode. There are some
moronic setups which are not that simple to
get rid off. If they would document all the
hidden bullshit it would make it usefull.
Take the numlock shit they came out with in
version 5.3. It took a while to figure out
the offending script that was forcing the
numlock on on every login despite the fact that
it was clear in the bios that the goddam numlock
was to be turned off.
Now they have a "smart hardware identification"
on boot. What if I don't want the damm thing
to look for changes in my hardware everytime it
boots? If I'd wanted a crawling boot I would
have installed winblows.
I switched to SuSE with no regret.
I haven't seen anything yet that is as nice
to setup as SuSE 7.0 Professional.
Back in the early 70s I was living in Toronto
(Canada) and was forced to give my bank account
number to get cable TV. In that part of the Great
White North there was no other way to get cable
from Rogers Cable. What I did was to open an
account and just kept a few dollars in it, not
enough to cover the cable bill and I always got
a bill in the mail, something that they flatly
refused to do normally. This was apparently an
automatic letter for such cases.
One thing I will never allow is for some damm
company to dig out of my bank account for any
reason.
To say that we are backward for no having this
kind of bullshit widespread is ridiculous. Here
we just cherish our freedom more that many other
countries.
I thought that you got rid of the socialists
to get someone less prone to empty your
pockets. When is the next legislative elections?
In our state we have a republican governor. (Michigan)
Republicans always campaign against taxes but
our governor is one of the biggest promoter of
an internet tax as are most of the republican
governors.
I think that if it was up to the republicans
they would replace the income tax with a stiff
VAT on virtually everything which would screw
everyone who have to spend most or a large
part of their income.
Republicans are for tax cuts for themselves and
that's it. I wouldn't be surprising to find
some interesting taxes like yours around here
eventually.
The french you learn in Montreal
is not actually french, its franglais.
The Quebecois version of french is so full of slang and poor everything that it is convievable
they would be missunderstood by someone from France. Trust me, I live accros the river from them.
A good advice to you would be that in the future
you think before you say anything so you wouldn't
look as stupid as you do now.
For one thing there is less english used in
the French spoken in Canada and here in the US
than there is in the French spoken in Europe.
One other fact is that the French in America
has not changed nearly as much over the years
as the European French has changed.
What may give problems for European
French would be the accent, but then again when
you go from Paris to Marseille it's like changing
country.
An American has more chances of coming in contact with French Canadians or Franco Americans than
with European French who only come to the US to
bitch about how much they hate us Americans.
Europeans French hate Americans while French
Canadians prefer Americans to anglo canucks.
When times come for vacations one would be
considered a moron if he considered vacationing
in english Canada instead of the US.
When time came to join the Free Trade with the
US, Québec supported it and the rest of Canada
opposed it. It was amusing to see the results
of the election on anglo and French Canadian TV. It looked
like a funeral on anglo TV and a victory party
on French Canadian TV.
You can enjoy your wet dreams as you wish
but the facts remain that the best spoken
english in the world is that of the US,
the southern US to be more acurate.

Another way that companies use is to encode
with the serial number of drive C:
Lattice is one.
Borland seems to be doing something like
that for the Delphi try out.
If Microsoft use this then when you format
the drive it would be kind of hard to get
the same code.

I fail to see why anyone has to be concerned
here except to the point where morons may
dump winblows to invade the Linux world.
Considering that Linux isn't likely to be
available by subcription until hell freezes
over I don't see anything to worry about.
This is nonsense. I am an American, my mother
tongue is French and I use SuSE.
