Wow, a little hopeful are we? If all it took was a one week sale to kill Blu-Ray, they would have done it months ago. This sale isn't going to do jack other than get rid of the lingering inferior toshiba HDDVD player (compared to their other HD DVD Players, see an above post explaining why it sucks) so they can make room for the next revision of their hardware.
I am drinking Warsteiner now with my right hand and mouth I gotta say, I'm a little frightened that you made sure to specify you were consuming Warsteiner through your mouth.
wait, responding to your own troll with another troll? Brilliant! Next time move a little faster so you can get the coveted "frosty piss!" too. That's at least 42 points alone!
It was Sony's responsibility. Hence they were sued by the consumers for it. However, if the company provided Sony with software that was not fully functional (overly functional?) without disclosing it, it's definitely court time. The PR certainly doesn't hurt though.
Check the news much? They've been there, all over the place actually. They're there as advisers and auditors, not to police everything the USG does. Even the Comptroller General was on the Colbert Report not too long ago.
I realize what the rating is for. What the GP implied (or at least how I interpreted it) was that instead of merely dropping Bowser into the lava, he wanted to watch him burn alive, and then go ravage the princess.
Frankly I don't think you do speak for a lot of gamers. I'm not going to claim to either. Frankly though, I haven't looked at the ESRB rating on a game in years. All I want is a good, quality game that plays well. A game can have all the gore it wants, if it plays terribly why would I want to play it?
Take God of War 2 for instance. Pretty graphic, definitely mature. Every review brought this up. But how many reviewers gave it a great score because within 5 minutes of starting you were gouging out a someone's eye? How many reviewers gave it a great score because of the excellent game play, gorgeous presentation, epic feel, and fantastic sound?
All extra gore does is add a bit to the realism and immersion of the setting. Unless the game is way off in its presentation, it's not going to change the game a whole lot.
Yes, and yes. Which is why I have a spare battery. From what I understand of the DS, this is not a convenient option. Like I said, I never bought into the argument. Maybe it's because my first handheld was a gamegear...who knows.
That's even more of an issue with topic-based blogs. If your focus is, say, US politics, or astronomy, etc. you have to stick close to your topic, or people will start complaining, "Why are you spending all this time talking about your cats!" Indeed. I proved this last weekend when I poured a glass of Jack. Then I slowly added soda to that glass. The more soda I poured into the glass, the less I tasted the Jack. I think I'll call my theory "dilution".
Preface: I own a PSP, but it's been generally collecting dust for the last ~9 months.
1. I agree it was expensive if you look at it as just a gaming platform. However, it is also a fairly capable media player as well. So for a device that plays games, movies, mp3s, can surf the web, stream music, etc, it was pretty decent. That's not even getting into what the homebrew could do for you.
2. I never really bought into this argument. The regular battery never died in less than 5 hours for me, and the battery they sell with a higher capacity regularly lasted 7+ hours. The likelihood of me gaming for 5+ hours without coming across a power source is extremely rare.
The biggest fault is deciding to put a shrunk DVD drive into a handheld. Manufacturing may be easier for them, but the DS cartridges are selling a bajillion times more and there doesn't seem to be a problem keeping up there. Somehow I don't think the difference in sales of games between a DS and a PSP has anything to do with how easily the media is manufactured. Making a drive that relies on an established manufacturing process with minor modifications is a smart business move, both for Sony and for third party manufacturers. If anything the fault of the UMD is the extremely slow read speed of the drive.
The problem with the PSP is that it tried too much to be as powerful as a home console. Most of it's games are therefore not seen as better than DS games, but as stripped down versions of home console games. What's wrong with being as powerful as a home console? Well done games look beautiful on the PSP and play very well. The problem is there aren't very many good games like that. Sony didn't seem to do jack in getting third party developers to do anything other than port their games over to it.
I think you misunderstand Apple's take on technology. They very much are not a 'give the people every option, so they can do everything'. Yeah, that's exactly what I said. I don't really see what the rest of your post has to do with it though.
They have learned that you don't necessarily need the most apps, you need great apps. But as a consumer, it's terrible. Yes they put out great apps, but it still comes down to the fact that Apple is the sole decider in how you will use their device. You have no choice; it's either their way or the highway.
It just baffles me when people scream about MS/Sony/Nintendo/etc locking down their devices for things like homebrew, but when Apple does the exact same thing it's suddenly ok.
Errr, how is it free to switch around? You get Ubuntu for $50 less. If they want to "switch around" back to windows, then they'll have to pony up $200 for a license, instead of the $50 they were going to spend.
All two of them that Dell is selling (to the home user)? If they can't figure out the difference between the two versions of Vista, they don't have a chance in hell at figuring out how to use Ubuntu.
Have you really tried shitty voice dialling in a busy, noisy place? Or even in the comfort of your home? I wonder how many calls you make using your stylus or address book compared to voice? And BTW, how many buttons do you press, before the phone;s toy voice dialling brings up voice recognition? Yes (Football stadium with 50k people), yes, roughly 6:1 (voice:contacts), one button.
This I hope would be available in iPhone in an update soon. People also hoped for replaceable batteries. Isn't Apple the only source for an update like this too? Here's to hoping!
It does synch Contacts etc from Outlook. Maybe more would be available soon. Thats the beauty of having a software enabled device and is more prominently applicable in *A Software Enabled Interface*. Yeah, a software enabled device that only a single company can actually develop for.
At 6-8 hours a charge and 400-500 charges, that would be at least 3-4 years before my battery runs out.
And considering that I can carry my charger wherever I go, Do I even care? Yeah, because batteries never go bad. I'd rather pay the $30 for a spare battery than have to send my phone in for warranty repair (is that free warranty good for 4 years?).
Yeah, and the R&D probably cost 'em $50, a couple pizzas, a case of beer, and a long weekend.

Isn't RealPlayer on almost all major OSes? Or don't they have a version of DRM that works on across platforms?
It was Sony's responsibility. Hence they were sued by the consumers for it. However, if the company provided Sony with software that was not fully functional (overly functional?) without disclosing it, it's definitely court time. The PR certainly doesn't hurt though.
What, that we have a government based on 'Separation of Powers'? Write a letter to your congressional representative if you're irritated.

You misspelled billionaire.

Don't forget CDs and DATs. Terrible, insignificant formats indeed.

I'd totally call them to send the movie clip, but I can't get my cell phone to sit properly on the acoustic coupler. Any ideas?
Ahh, that'll teach me to trust TFS (work blocks out blogs). Re-reading TFS, it does sound a little sensationalist.
Gladly! Check out the "exploits" section.
