The game is called Dice Wars. As someone who's played a lot of risk over the years, I can say that this game isn't nearly as good as my wife seems to think! But if you're in dire need of some 1 player vs computer risk, it might do the trick. To get to it from the homepage, go to "Puzzle", sort by rating (default), and it's the top rated game on there.

For Risk you can try www.wiicade.com...they've got a risk clone on there. My wife was playing it and I didn't really see how close to the original it was, but just a suggestion. Flash sites are probably going to be the easiest way to get your board game fix on the Wii, at least for now.

I dunno, I think the SNES Mouse is probably a little more mouse-like than the Wiimote.

The screen thing could be kinda cool though...maybe have the DS as an interface. Or a PSP (then I'd actually get use out of it). Players could hand that off when it's their turn so you'd only need one. Somehow I think that requiring two consoles to play one game might not go over so well though! Maybe have the Wii host a webserver so you could use a laptop to see your cards...who knows. I'll stop rambling...good call on the board games though!

Trying to tie this in to the VT tragedy just makes you look like all the other attention whoring, agenda pushing asshats out there. I'd go so far as to say that you're as big of a tool as Jack Thompson. Afterall, you're posting this crap in a thread that has nothing to do with VT. As pretty as the packaging was, I rather like the DVD size case of today. Those huge boxes, while slick looking, ended up getting thrown out (except for some favorites) because they were unstackable and took up way too much space. Some games today still use fancy packaging, but they're usually the collectors editions. I think Everquest 2 was the last CE I purchased, and the metal case w/ velvety lining was pretty slick looking.

Spot on with the rest though, manuals especially.

I'm pretty sure Sony would love to see Blockbuster and Netflix crash and burn as much as I'd like to see Sony to do the same.

Just like Bethesda holds the rights to sell expansions for Elder Scrolls, just like EA holds the rights to release booster packs for Battlefield, just like Blizzard has the rights to sell you a WoW t-shirt. There is no monopoly here.

The Hermes is the first PDA phone I've owned, so unfortunately I don't really have a whole lot to compare it to. I CAN tell you that I love this thing. As noted above the battery life isn't the best. It's definitely a daily charge for me, but I also use it constantly. I haven't paired it with a bluetooth device yet, and I'm not in an area with 3g...so I can't really speak on the upgraded features from the Wizard (other than the faster processor, which is very snappy), sorry! The only thing I don't like about it is the Wifi can't go into promiscuous mode.

The brilliant developers that frequent the xda forums have provided plenty of utilities for it, and I think that's half the fun of owning this device. The custom SPL they developed makes it almost impossible to brick your phone doing upgrades. Unlocking your EXTROM, superCID, and SIM is painless. The device is so customizable it's unbelievable. You can flash a new OS in minutes, and if you want to try out all the different radios available they've made it easy to do. I don't know how it is in the Wizard community, but the community support for the Hermes is amazing!

I could go on and on about it, but typing on this little keyboard gets a little tiring after a while. If the faster processor and 3.5G support are important enough to upgrade, I'd definitely recommend it.

Dead on with Windows Mobile 5. However, Windows Mobile 6 does a pretty fantastic job with battery life compared to WM5 (WM5 with AKU3.3+ isn't too bad either). A full day of listening to MP3s, pulling email every 15 minutes, some web browsing, and an occasional game of tetris generally brings my battery to ~30/40% by the time I go to bed. Doing the same with WM5 would have my battery dead by lunch.

The GSM radio stack you use has a big impact on battery as well, but that's a whole other story.
