Just a warning, though, for those in that situation. My girlfriend has an astigmatism that is so bad that contacts simply won't work. For the first time in umpteen eye exams, the most recent doctor actually said that -- the other ones before him kept trying to sell her expensive lenses that "might" work.
Just a friendly warning that if you have an astigmatism, you might want to be 100% positive that contacts will work for you before you buy them.
Actually, TBS is yet another station that is trying to provide more original content, but TNT's L&O reruns do excellently in the ratings. So you're basically right (insightful) about TBS being all about old content. Maybe they are launching it under "TBS" because people trust that brand, as opposed to AOL or Time Warner?
As we've all figured out, this web site so far is high on hype and low on details.
I find it quite interesting that "TBS" is doing this, though -- why them? This just doesn't sound like something TBS should or would be getting into. I mean, this is the company and station the bring you the Braves and The Real Gilligan's Island.
As a Time Warner company, wouldn't this have made sense as part of something else, maybe that albatross named AOL?
I know this survey is supposedly ongoing, but it would be nice if the authors could at least offer some conclusions. After going over some of the data, nothing surprised me. I'm not sure what they hope to find, or what their objective is.
So what's going on?
I have no idea, I doubt it's all a big conspiracy... but some possible explanations spring to mind:
Perhaps the MSN search has simply been coded by developers used to talking to IIS machines and so it just does that job better?
Perhaps the MSN spider is taking advantage of some specific IIS features to provide enhanced indexing?
In other words, there are some explanations out there other than "MS is biased and there's a conspiracy and they are trying to take over the world"...
This happened to a friend of mine. A consultant decided to send a spreadsheet around to all of the employees, about 25, with some HR data, such as hours worked, etc. However, some of it had been copied and pasted as an object, from another worksheet.
What was in that other worksheet? Oh, everyone's salaries:)
I don't know how well this is really working. I know that I wouldn't know anything about OurColony or the name being XBox360 (if it is) unless I read this site...
for example, someone said ilovebees was very successful, and I had no clue what that was until the other day.
I can't believe no one has made a reference to the Amazing Stories episode with Mark Hamill, when a fairy visited him and told him to keep everything and never throw anything away. His parents threw him out, and he spent his life in a stationwagon until he was ancient, when a man offered to buy his decades-old toys for hundreds of thousands of dollars...
Remember the days when Apple simply gave their computers to schools, in a brilliant, philanthropic marketing move?
It really helps, down the road, to teach kids how to use your OS of software. Giving kids a chance to learn OpenOffice et al could have interesting repurcussions down the road.
Scoring a winning point or TD in the last second can be quite thrilling. The other week, in FIFA 2005, winning the game with an amazing bicycle kick that I had not converted ever (which was probably 5000 matches), into the top corner was enough to make me jump out of my chair...then I realized that it was a game and no one other than me really cared:)
20? What kind of character development can be done in 20 hours??
Except that these sources are different...

No kidding. This is fascinating to me -- this would be a drastic leap forward. If this is true, I really hope that they can get it right.

Would you buy a car with a locked hood that the dealer refused to give you the combination for?
And where in the world will you find that?
Nice to see a successful marketing story...well, that depends on their ROI, but they are on the right track. Well done.
If you want subscriber charts...
I'd say Anonymous Coward is naturally nerfed, because he can't accrue Karma...

When the military web sites are hacked, do the kiddies say "All your base are belong to us!!"?
I thought that "undocumented features" was a euphemism for "bug"? :)

if you didn't know about it, then you obviously aren't their target market
Or they missed their target...

Does anyone kow what the image is on the front of OurColony? I think it is the Tomatillo -- the tomato-throwing festival in Spain.
Um, the government can do more than one thing at a time. So, you think the Japanese company should've gotten away with the price fixing, then?
Trinity?

Do you have a problem with non-Christians, straight couples getting married, then?
Is there a form for straight unmarried partners to sign so that they can receive the same benefits?
"Common law" marriage, maybe?
