You bring up a good point.
I'm waiting for this to turn into a problem so that blockbuster has to stop this insanity.

The issue is that there are a certain amount of movies which are released shortly after being in theatres, and are ONLY in a rental phase, not being sold as DVDs at BlockBuster, etc.

As long as BlockBuster doesn't make the 'you bought it after 30 Days' Fee too expensive, then you've now just effectively been able to purchase your DVD for your collection before everyone else. Legally even! Just go back to Blockbuster, ask for the cover art for the title (You're actually entitled to it).

My best friend works at BlockBuster, and I was hanging out when they were getting all their corporate propaganda for the new No Late Fees, and they actually have a little handbook that says 'Customer says X, you say Y' -- and there are about 3-4 levels of the customer having to ask for details before they're supposed to hand them over. They're supposed to give as ambiguous and non-informative answers as possible until the customer practically gets irate.

We're not trying to slam you, we're not trying to rape you with popups or redirects. Just happen to have our name mentioned in the URL. Your choice if you'd want to use our services. I feel this is very similar to a sourceforge mirror of download links. You choose a mirror, the company happens to be listed on the left. They don't do anything except sit there with their name.

I totally agree on the 'free ipod' and 'free lcd monitor' bit -- I don't agree with those MLM schemes

Also btw, -- if I'd chosen to use my personal blog URL -- HornyandConfused.com instead of 100BigCoupons.com You would've thought I was advertising a porn site instead :-P

I'm open to suggestions as to how we could better give back to the open source community with our spare bandwidth. We've contacted numerous open source projects and offered to be mirrors, but most everyone seems to have plenty of bandwidth now adays -- the only place I see is when there's an occasional slashdot story that links to a site that got hit hard.

These choices are great and all, but in my experience I've found very poor multi-monitor support. Some authors speak of running multiple daemons for each screen -- screw that.
I've found that RealVNC (and NOT UltraVNC) has excellent multi-monitor support that gives you a view that spans across all monitors.

However, the beauty is in the fact that you can use the superior UltraVNC client to connect to the multi-monitor supporting RealVNC.

What other experiences have others had with multi-monitor across some of the VNCs I haven't tried, such as TightVNC?

  14. MAC OS X/Linux Modchips on Mac OS X Running On Xbox · · Score: 2, Informative

After reading the news about the Xbox being able to run OS X you may be asking yourself, "How can I do this as well, what do I need?"

Well, the answer to that question would be that you need to have a Xbox, obviously, and a way to run unsigned code.

In my experiences I have found that www.xbox-modchips.com provides quality tech suport, a good warranty, and overall great prices.

Right now the most Compatible chip in the market is the Xecuter 3 modchip. This can let you run the unsigned code required for a Mac OS X install.

In my opinion though, OS X needs a lot of proccessing power to run it's OS and requires a good bit of memory too, but the 733mhz proccessing power and the 64mb of ram that come with the Xbox may fall short behind on the minimal basis of running OS X on an Xbox.

Linux on the Xbox can do some great things such as, connect to your email server, browse the internet, run Linux apps, and even daisy chain several Xboxes together that are running Linux and make a 10,000 mhz machine. Linux on the Xbox has progressed very far, but how will Mac's OS X hold up like the current Xbox-linux Os's out today?
    Only time will tell.
