"The solution will alleviate network bottlenecks caused by illegal music downloads..."

So by offering a pay service to students who have the capability already to pay, but choose rather to download illegally will alleviate the problem? I think a better solution to the problem is to offer a more reasonable rate per song or per bandwidth utilized for music downloads... Lets say $.10 a song. I would download music for that price on a massive scale.

I agree and my analogy was poor. I wasn't trying to say go in to the house I was simply saying seeing that a door is left wide open, but your kegger analogy is right on the money. One thing that really annoys me with the Florida law is that lets say you live in a neighborhood with 5 open APs broadcasing their SSID. And now lets say you have a wireless AP and you have left all the defaults on including naming it err linksys. Now if those other people with open APs have also left their defaults on then you could be connecting to someone else's AP without really knowing it. I know in my neighborhood there are more than a few unsecured APs with the defaults left on and I wonder if this scenario has happened to them. Wouldn't it be much easier to configure the devices to ensure that users have to change the default?

Unfortunately I agree that keeping poor people poor through embargos and what not does not help to solve the problem of fanaticism/extremism. In fact denying economic aid to a country because of their leaders decisions just aids that leader in spreading hate and discord for us. But on the other hand society and religion has grown. If you look back at the Dark Ages one can say western religion was horribly cruel. But over time as people came to realize that cutting off hands and burning people at the stake was not acceptable, religions in general changed ways to mirror a more civilized society. Now in today's world where many countries have put in place rules that say harming man, woman or child in this manner is unacceptable other countries do not follow that path and still engage in acts like allowing the murder of women for crimes such as adultery or marrying out of their class or cutting off hands for theft or stoning for etc... I don't think it is wrong to try to change that mindset but I also don't think there is any way to do that in the near future other than helping to provide a more worldly education and to better the lives of those economically that suffer and feel Western nations are the cause of that suffering. It is just a sad situation and I think one that will be going on for quite awhile. Western society's do bad things like any other nation, but there is also a lot of good that comes out of us as well.

I really appreciate everyone posting news here and other useful information. I am not British, but that does not lessen the sorrow I feel for those who will have lost friends and family because of this act.

On a side note. In my opinion this is not the appropriate time to start a post flamewar about how Western society has done this or that. Any civilized person should be able to look at this kind of act and know that it is wrong to have happened. This will probably be flamebait, but I really hope people consider that there are a lot of worried people out there right now that are looking to places like this for information because friends and family may be in harms way. Having to sort through posts that say You Deserve This because blah blah blah is inappropriate and cold-hearted.

Ok first off the company has no right to sue Google for said amount unless it can demonstrate the metrics to prove that it has had to pay Google approx. $5 million for "click fraud (of course that would mean that they have paid Google much more than that because not all clicks on their ads would be fraudulent...) Now that being said if the Company is just suing Google on the premise that it doesn't actively fight against click fraud vs actual damages it has occurred then that is just BS and they should counter-sue. This looks to me like a "didn't use our product" lawsuit and that is ridiculous.

On another note the definition of click fraud that I got from TFA seems to be that I click on an Ad but don't have intent on buying what is being advertised? So what I watch commercials just cuz they are funny sometimes or I click on an ad to see what it is but not necessarily buy... Any definition of click fraud should certainly contain wording to described use of automated tools that go out and actively click on ads without user interaction because that is where the real problem lies now doesn't it. Anyway bit of a rant because frivolous lawsuits tick me off.

Yes crackers are a bad and yes we need stronger punishment for those who knowingly break the law (even if they are kids). But there are those that find these vulnerabilities ins systems/software and go the route of reporting them to be fixed rather than exploiting them and to their credit I think that is a good thing. Yes obviously the people who are maliciously attacking systems/software, stealing and etc... are a huge problem but I still believe that there should be some sort of repercussion for the organizations that don't properly secure their networks and expose our information (or those that don't do the appropriate quality checks or rewrite the same bad code once again). I think stronger laws need to come first (but the laws should be written so that white hat hackers who are actually helping to identify vulnerabilities but not exploit them can continue to do what they do.) If we didn't have people openly identifying flaws in systems than our infrastructure would be so much more at risk I shudder to think of it. (Imagine a foreign infowar entity collecting hundreds of unknown e-commerce related vulnerabilities or some other critical infrastructure and then hitting us when we're down. Applaud the people who are trying to help, but severely punish the people who are knowingly exploiting. I would almost say that a formal entity should be created to report flaws found and works with the commercial and government side to ensure those flaws are patched (but doesn't necessarily publish that X flaw exists until the problem is fixed.) Too much of my time has been wasted investigating computer break-ins to not want more punishment.
