In my trip to India last month, I was using a crappy phone to surf the Internet. I thought google used SSL or some obfuscation but I was surprised when I started getting emails from Indian sites. The problem is not just limited to Apps but on a broader scale ISP's snoop on you.
I keep getting these emails from ICICI about DEMAT accounts. Whenever I respond and ask to correct the problem. I get a canned response asking about my particulars including amongst other things my cell phone and date of Birth ( Sighh...) I once had a daily back and forth for a week with a guy starting with a standard line " I beg your pardon... Anyway what worked for me was a custom filter taking all messages from ICICI straight into Trash.
I remember an enthusiast Electronics buff in Eastern part of India who came with a device in 1992, nothing new here. Tata Steel which holds board member status in IIT Kharagpur later sponsored this student for an undergraduate in Engineering.
A Hair Cut in India is 20Rs and I pay the same in US. Going by that the currency exchange should be 1:1. Haha, you are building a long winded response without real merits.
I used my bank account from Grad school days as a sandbox for PayPal. Paypal on purpose deducted money from my bank account and not my credit card. And they freaking tried 3 times to withdraw the same amount. Anyway for a 25$ charge I ended up paying 150$'s in overdraft and other fees.
Rao Yi, a 47-year-old biologist who left Northwestern University in 2007 to become dean of the School of Life Sciences at Peking University in Beijing, contrasts China’s “soul-searching” with America’s self-satisfaction. When the United States Embassy in Beijing asked him to explain why he wanted to renounce his American citizenship, he wrote that the United States had lost its moral leadership after the 9/11 attacks. But “the American people are still reveling in the greatness of the country and themselves,” he said in a draft letter.

For folks who get a kick out of bashing the H1B policy pls go to http://www.guestworkerfraud.com/ .
Here is my 2 cents;
America was built by immigrants, so it is useless to complain about new immigrants. With the current legal immigration process, the only way for anyone to get citizenship, is either family based or employment based. Employment based means getting through the process of H1 or L1.
I do understand most of the./'s are in the IT field, where H1B has been abused the most. But most people I know are not in IT, they are Engineers or Doctors.
Being involved in the hiring process, I can confidently say that no one was willing to come to WNY. The company I worked, had the jobs open for as long as 8 months. Finally deciding to tap the immigrant pool from top US colleges.
WTF, I tried creating a document"BAM" I get blank. I tried again BAM blank. Frantically hit backspace to go to slashdot. Woohoo Both the documents there. I tried to view the document. WTF is a collabnet document. Nice try but a lame attempt.
Why should an international student come to US over a bunch of other countries for their education. What do the universities use to pitch their Universities over the competition. And how do you think most of the Universities make money.
The XR400 used in the drive through was a UHF reader. Reading a UHF tag is not as easy as the author described. All you have to do is put it against your body, and the salt water attenuates the signal, thus making the tag unreadable. Making such broad statements as scrap the whole real ID or national id, will be valid, if the author showed some substance.
I agree and disagree with this. You have to be in an H1B shoes to appreciate this. I have seen folks laid off as H1B with unsold houses and cars. They had to just get a ticket, and leave the country. Barring the Native Indians, I think it is a hypocrisy on most Americans. Would you be here commenting, if the same was done to your forefathers. Being an Asian with H1B is taking jobs, but being from Europe, it is heritage.
I can attest as an immigrant myself. Long wait for getting appointment at consular offices. Being treated like shit on port of entry. 5-6 years for permanent residence. And even for small things like getting you passport stamped you have to go through hell. A bunch of my close friends have abandoned the US green card system, & moved to Canada.
I have some news for you, Indians are no longer vying for jobs in US anymore. Rather US companies are going to India in hordes.
There used to be Microsoft vs Linux or Microsoft vs. OSX. These days it's Ubuntu vs rest of Linux. I draw an analogy with supporting Ron Paul for president.
I have been using Linux from Red Hat 6 days. I drifted towards Gentoo & centOS for a couple of years my distro of choice these days, OpenSuse.
I tried Ubuntu twice with frustrating results. Once about 2 years back on a 64 bit AMD, It was a joke, I don't know why there was even a version out.
I tried 7.04 recently, again it lasted for 1 1/2 day on my dual core laptop. To get it to level - where it was usable was taking too long. In addition Ubuntu ws insisting on using Non-smp kernel.
Bottom line, I don't think I will easily give up on Opensuse unless I see polish.
I smell something funny in this article. It is written to do one thing very badly; Show the article to an advertiser and tell him, yes web advertising makes sense.
It takes time and effort on part of OSS to start a project and keep on developing it. These corporate entities probably have illiterate developers who think they can STEAL code and make modifications. All I can say is we should have a RIAAA type organization protecting OSS projects, to sue these companies to bankruptcy.
It has been widely known that US copyright and patent system needs reform. In my point of view the USPTO does nothing but stops growth and fosters monopoly. Developing countries like India, in the name of being a trade partner, will come on board with IP protection. However, expecting them to follow US laws is foolish.
Who gives a rat's behind if lobbyists were able to get this bill going.
Yeah RIGHT, the policymakers are on crack. I am from India so I know this is a pipe dream. I live in eastern India where in the name of electricity there is 6 hours or less per day during summer and 8 hours or less during day time. Phone systems sucks realtime, Even a breeze knocks the service off. You have to bribe the repairman for restoring it back. Even when it works you hear a static. There is no water service running to our house, We had to drill underground and install our own water supply. The roads have not been paved in last 20 years.
I guess the title should have been parts of New Delhi getting Broadband, but as a whole India, OMG how can someone even think of coming with such a statement.

"NIST postdoctoral researcher James Chin-wen Chou" How come no one is bitching about American jobs and H1B.

Could not agree with you more on this. India has done nothing with the $'s other that build up it foreign reserves.
RTFA, that's precisely what's happening.

The reason I have still not switched with Office 2003 is the ribbon.

I am happy with OpenSUSE 10.3
C'mon Ubuntu team, why do you have to come up with weird names.
