Just to comment on this, I have noticed a lot of open source software being abused in this way by loading it with crapware and distributing it on download.com.
I also had a friend who wrote some freeware (without a GPL or similar license, JUST freeware) games, and had some some spyware-monger take his games and add some random spyware junk to it then bought Download.com positions, he contacted download.com asked for them to remove the games, they did, then he contacted the author, and he acted as if there was nothing wrong. 8-)
I imagine it'll happen. I have a feeling RH gets most of their sales from Dell, it's the ole'Walmart syndrome, where they either lower their prices, and go out of business, or go out of business because they lose their main client.
I have killed all the spam I get... every last one.
This is what I have done:
I put a link to spam@refrozen.com on every (every = most) page that links to one of my email addresses (except slashdot, where I change my email address all the time and forward the old one to:blackhole:)...
As soon as I get an email at spam@refrozen.com I have a program that adds that user to my spammy users list. All emails further recieved from that user on *@refrozen.com get moved to my spam folder.
It hasn't failed yet, and hasn't marked an incorrect spammer, I have used it for 3 weeks. I used to get over 100 spams a day, now I get none.

I've seen that one before though. It's just taking the last one, and incrementing the numbers across so they are the same... Wow, it's hard to explain

1. Inline Assembly (I guess that doesn't count as C)?
2. cout "1"; cout "2"; ? There must be a trick there.
3. Not a clue.
4. Fooling around with sqrt() (or mod?) for a while might help? I don't know though.
5. result = x + x + x + x + x + x + x?
6. Ahahaha, yeah.... Later.
7. Use a temporary array, add them all, the repeatedly loop through comparing all values... removing is a little harder.
8. Dunno anything 'bout Linked Lists, am not really a C programmer my self.
9. Is there not a ACCESS function to do that, like adding a unique column?
10. Mmm, you can typecast it or something, I remember that from when I was using C.
11. Well, since C isn't a scripting language I don't see how that's possible.
12. Bah.
13. What's the difference in this, and 3?
I give up.
" Easy fix, point the domain to lycos servers, have them DoS themselves." That one could be a problem, what if one of the spammers decides to point the domain to a non-spam site (microsoft.com, sco.com, google.com are all familiar targets) and the DoS software crashes a real site... Lawsuit?
Considering spam is only sort of illegal, I think the spammers are on the legal end... I don't really know though.
In the very first thread about this I mentioned how this is going to get them in trouble, how does attacking spammers make them better people then the spammers?
I never really did see Lycos as a good company ("not evil":D), this, IMO, just makes them worse. While, spam is a big problem, it is the least of my worries, and I have a million different email addresses (My website has about 400 different email addresses that you use depending on what your email is about) all being forwarded to my Gmail account, I get a fair amount of spam, but, still....
I have to admit, the current email system is HUGELY flawed, but,/. has discussed that many times.
I have been doing some searching for the format of a BitTorrent file, I would like to create a program for Refrozen that allows me to distribute files via BT, but, I can't find the format of the file, etc.
I think I should get to work on Refrozen Groups (usenet.refrozen.com anyone?)
Seriously, if anyone wants to work on it with me, I have/can get the resources to mirror a large portion of the Usenet I think, s'long as our hits increase rapidly. Contact me @ sdfgdfg@refrozen.com:-)
How 'bout we just make all telemarketting illegal.
Actually! While we are at it, lets make all forms of advertising illegal! That's obviously how we SHOULD be doing things.
Why stop there? Lets make breathing illegal, and allow Microsoft to patent eating!
Nah, people likes more simple languages that allow this:
map{map{tr|10|# |;print}split//,sprintf"%.8b\n",$_}
unpack'C*',unpack'u*',"5`#8
But don't believe me, after all is your code.
I believe you.

Wow. That guy is dumb. Set cache maximal size to 0 and you no longer save pages to disk. FireFox is far more secure then IE, it doesn't support ActiveSecurityhole, and isn't used by 90% of the population (who targets a browser that 10% use?)
Bahahahahahahahahahaahhahahaha.
Or, you could be like the Chinese Goverment, use Linux, not crash, but instead get sued. (read the OTHER slashdot article about MS suing Linux users)

I would sue anyone who sent invalid/fake requests to my site in mass numbers. Calling it an 'attempted DOS'.
