I'm not saying that all corporations are good, but Unions are supposed to look out for the employees, these days in the US they act like pimps, and when business shut down it's usually because the unions wanted too much, screwed over the company.
Take a look at Hostess they were a large company, and only 40% percent of it's employees were unionized but they wanted too much, they stopped production and shut down, because that was more cost effective. I remember around 2002 there was a company Consolidated Freightways, they were a HUGH multi state company with union employees. One day everyone showed up to work with at the local facility of theirs, all the building were locked down and just a sign in the driveway that the company was shut down permanently. They were basically fighting the Teamsters for 20 years at that point.
$9 million for a recall, compared to maybe 10 times that if they get sued. Even if it costed them that much, which I doubt it was be more than $4 mil at the most, it's still worth it. Plus its a great Fuck You to the big manufactures, I think they are makeing a great PR move with this.
The same thing happens to me when I go to poland, I try to drive reasonably, but there are people passing me doing twice the speed limit, on some shitty road that has a memorial ever 50 feet on the side of it because people keep killing themselves. I've seen wider alleys in Chicago that some of the roads in Europe, I'm sorry but it is a travesty for country roads to not be wide enough for two cars going the opposite way. If I'm driving and someone is coming in my direction we should not have to both slow down to a crawl and both almost drive into ditches to pass each other.
You think this is a tech issue, it's not, it's a corporate one. Some one at apple realized that the numbers of people using their service were a little low, so they told the SIRI team to adjust her to focus people to their service. They don't give a shit if peoples questions are answered or not, they only care that people are using their software.
I agree with you, but it's kind of ironic that you can use the same argument for god. You can't assume that there is no god, just because you can't detect him/her/it.
It doesn't work. D&D is all about making your own experience, it just like how almost every video game movie sucks. You could in theory make a good movie that is set in the D&D universe but you need a $100 million dollar budget and someone like Peter Jackson to make it. This will never happen, it will have a piddly budget, and some no name director, I actually believe that Vin Diesel would be a good director for this movie, since he has been a big D&D guy for years. The best D&D cross over to video that I've seen is actually the Futurama episidoe Benders Game.
Way 1: Don't resolve the main plot in the pilot. Basically, they'd need to stretch the entire move out over a 3-5 season arc, more like Babylon-5 than like Trek. A lot of modern shows are doing this. The only issue is that it tends to make the series feel really slow and boring if you don't throw some other little things in there to resolve. There's only so much foreplay a guy will sit through...
I take it you didn't watch any of the DS9, especially the later season, I'll argue that it was the best written Trek series.
Looking at the numbers from the San Jose police website, with over 7000 cars stolen a year, I really can't blame them for trying this. If they are just scanning cars that are visible from the street and alleys, then I can't really argue that this system would be that invasive.
I actually agree with the first AC, there is no such a thing as complete privacy. I agree that I don't want to live in some 1984 type of world where the government knows all my thoughts or what ever. But I'm a realist and there is almost no amount of off the grid that you can go as to get real privacy, the only way for that to happen is if you were the last person on the planet. It should be viewed more as keeping the freedom to do what we want, because let's face it, there is not a computer system made, that isn't hack-able, so someone can always find out what you are up to. You can use as much encrypton as you want, but some will eventually break it.
We have these devices in our pockets that connect us with the rest of the world instantaneously, the vast majority of people expect because they pay some kind of amount ever month that these things are supposed to work flawlessly every single time. This kind of thing was mind boggling a generation ago, even up until a few years ago if you wanted to be sure something got done, you had to talk to someone on the other end of the phone line, a delivery will be made, a bank account opened, etc. I get that younger generation grew up with pretty much instant gratification for everything, but that doesn't make it right. The technology has outpaced our ability to get used to it we basically went from sending smoke signals, to being connected to all the collective knowledge of humanity overnight, there is no wonder that people are complaining about stuff. Technology is not perfect, it will not work 100% of the time, there is not a machine built since the beginning of time that will, get over it. Very few people do not even realize what it takes to get they call to connect when it actually does work, that kind of thing was called magic a few years ago.
I can't wait for the nexus phones that will come out this year. I have a nexus 5 and i just cracked my screen pretty badly, it still works, but looks like krap. No way am I going to run out and get the 6 if a new one is coming out at the end of September or early October. Nexus phones have primarily been the best bang for your buck when getting a new android.
The question I have is, if the car is not running, or even if the key is out of the ignition would the car get fried? How much voltage would the EMP generate on the cars electrical systems, vs how much does it actually take to fry a car? I'm sure that would vary depending on the distance the car is from the explosion.
America does not have the worlds highest murder rate.

They exist, get over it, you might decide you actually enjoy them depending on how much lens flare they put into this next one.
Yes, but you carry a cell phone on you that has a mic and gps, so someone can hear and know where you are all all times.

Tell that to all the retired american footballers with lifetime brain damage.

What else would add up to 75TB? That is a shit load of personal data.

It's just apple being apple.
You make a good point, I would say that you should also make it a requirement if someone wants to get welfare.
If I ever meet you in real life, I'm going to punch you in the face. This shit is starting to get really old.
It is a valid question, I know it's shocking but not everyone is in the cult of apple.

Who's on first?

You forgot the gun rack, everyone wants a gun rack.

Haven't we see a post like this ever day since launch?

I also have a Seiko, I'm on my 4th, I buy one ever 7-8 years, I almost never take it off my arm, and swap out when they start to get really beat up.
