We are working on putting Zigbee modules into devices where I work. The real benefit of them is the power consumption. They are meant to sleep 99% of the time they are out there, only waking up if they have to send data or to check if their host device wants to bug them. The devices these would go in are the kind you put out and forget about, maybe changing batteries every few months.
The biggest problem right now though is that the technology is still rather young and it's not implemented uniformly. One company might have a chip that runs completely differently from the next company.
If you can find a chipset that you are happy with though, 802.15.4 and Zigbee work well for low power, low data style transfers, but be prepared to have to fiddle with 'em to get exactly what you want.
Brilliant new treatment for depression: Get Over It!
World sucks, things aren't how you'd like them to be: Get Over It!
Girlfriend dumped ya, sleeping with your best friend: Get Over It!
Apparently living in a modern world means you get depressed a lot, but with my simple plan you just look past the crap and say 'eh, whatever' and Get Over It!
I guess I don't have any hard proof to give ya, but I've always heard stories of freaky giant fish that live behind the Lock and Dams in the Mississippi that cause some divers to refuse to go down there.
Of course these could all be old wives tales but I've heard them enough times to wonder.
There are a number of shows I would have never thought to buy if I hadn't seen the fansubs of them, Scrapped Princess, Gunslinger Girls, RahXephon and Love Hina to name a few. Watching so many new shows as they air in Japan also helps me to give recommendations to friends looking to pick up new anime, I know what is good, what is bad, and what shows are usually about.
Like everyone else here, I don't think these guys are nerds, maybe a little geeky looking or maybe dorks(Tiger Woods is totally a dork), but not nerds. Geeky has been in for a while and money is always is in.
The jist is that the government asked a couple of highly educated men (both Physics PhDs) to see if they could figure out how to develop a nuclear bomb without access to any classified information back in the 60s. The idea is that any random country could get a hold of people like this, so what are the odds any random country could develop the bomb.
The results, the hardest part of process would be access to the fissle material, but the bomb they developed would've been on the scale of the Hiroshima bomb. An interesting article overall.
Man, that means you are missing out on The Homestar Runner, how sad.

Step 5 - Profit!
You're clearly addicted to daily SCO news, just wait for my report on this phenomenon to be published in the Times.
My guy didn't vote for it
Interesting story I remember reading related to this.
