Millions of Games
duncangough writes "With the recent rise in popularity of casual games and the seemingly established presence of community bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us, Millionsofgames.com is one of the first websites to provide an amalgamation of these two themes.
MOG is a social bookmarking service for flash, shockwave and java games although any type of game can be added, such a MMORPGs or downloadable games like Zuma and Bejewelled."
Can't touch this!
Since when has that been an actual phrase?
(fp?)
Then keep an eye on my homepage:
Millionsofgame - suttree
I'll be posting plenty of games there and tagging them accordingly. Jewel Thief, for starters, is a great little game.
Suttree, a weblog about casual games development
I've been playing http://www.zillions-of-games.com/ for years now :-P
Were that I say, pancakes?
are tetris clones
I can't imagine how anyone could possibly think they need any more games than MAME can provide. :-)
Ignore Alien Orders
Must be a slow news day, those have been around for a while.
ModLife.Net - If it ain't modded, what's the point?
Am I the only one on the planet that does what he can to keep Java, Flash, and Shockwave OFF of his computer? The last thing I want is a big website telling me where I can actually *find* this crap-ola.
I don't respond to AC's.
...in lost productivity!!!
./ readers someone has to come up with:
For
1. The trolling game!! The son-of-a-gun with worst Karma wins a RIP: -1, Troll tombstone!
2. The 'find-the-duplicated-story' memory game!!
3. The First-post shootout!!
Disclosure: I'm stupid
...has just plumetted.
My employer curses you, slashdot.
My work here is dung.
Since when was there more on the Internet then porn and ISO's?!! When did this happen?!!
This is really a pretty good idea for a site and I'd be especially interested to see what ads pop up down the road when they're getting a lot of visitors. I know my nieces and nephews will sit down at a computer and play some bizarre games that I've never seen or heard of before. I'd imagine once they get wind of this site, they'll be on there quite a bit. So who's the target market? Will they market to a younger teen crowd or will they market to adults (with purchasing power)? Either way, it semes like a pretty good way to get a site up with a lot of traffic.
Finance tutorials and more! Understandfinance
They're all arcade games. Yeah they're a blast, but I can't play them at work. The banging on the keyboard is a dead giveaway - only faster way to summon the boss is with a flare gun.
That's why the little dinky Java strategy and card games are good.
Weaselmancer
rediculous.
I've registered but I can't seem to login. Don't know if the slashdotting effect is already operating at full force or if I can't type (probably the latter :).
Casual games are getting huge. My first ral foray into them is Atlantis - http://www.funpause.com/. This title is doing really good, but the bar is getting really high and it's getting really difficult for new entrants.
Best regards,
Emmanuel
Site looks to be slashdotted already (and only 27 comments?). You might want to use Coral (at least for an initial look -- there's presumably a lot of dynamic content on the site though ...)
the summary links to popcap games autoinstall which are deemed a security threat by various anti-virus programs
if you value your PC (or your job) i would be careful about clicking links to sites which try to automatically install software which is deemed a security/privacy threat , very irresponsible of slashdot to even link to such sites
... of plugging random websites, here's my automated art portfolio website.
/. would just post a plug for a website like this. Why not plug games.com or something? Just because it uses social bookmarking doesn't mean they should get a free "ad"... .... I wonder, was it really free, or did MOG pay for it?
I am sad that

For my lunch breaks, this is a fun flash game:
h tm
http://www.funkitron.com/games/Poker1/Play.Poker.
Fun trying to beat Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson.
And the download version of it seems to be even better.
How much do I have to pay for advertising my site on slashdot like this?
Sindri Traustason.
Is it just me or when you go to register with Firefox the site seems broken... it just takes you back to the registration page. I did it in IE and it worked. If this is so... WTF is it doing on slashdot?
For those of you who remember the classic UNIX rts xbattle, I suggest trying Europa http://europa.mochasoft.ca/. Very simple, but very addictive. Unfortunately, not too many people play it these days.
Reported detections: "Shit loads"
I prefer Linux Game Tome
The linux game project gtkboard claimed to be working on a clone of zillions of games. But it looks like they got bored before reaching the goal. http://gtkboard.sourceforge.net/doc/devel/index.ht ml#features
Orisinal has a few dozen neat little Flash games.
Ah Zuma, my favorite of the popcap games. I was surprised by how addictive these simple little games can be. I was happier the day I beat Zuma that anygame I've finished in many years. /wife is still jealous I beat Zuma before she did.
-Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
Carnyville : You wake at 3am to find a carnival has moved in next door. Find a way to get them to move on before your property value plummets! This point-and-click adventure blew up my bandwidth last month so please be gentle.
Swinger: a weird arcade style game where you swing from dot to dot- like Clockwerkz w/ physics.
Figure Five Frenzy: My favorite math geek game. Play others online to prove yourself nerdy.
Sudoku Shuffle: A sudoku puzzler where you race the clock and other players in real time.
Does it have Spispopd? I've been waiting for that game forever!
There are ISOs now!?! I am way behind the times.
Shut up. Symantec added it to their database intentionally, read:
"Description:
This is Trend Micro's detection for components of the legal adware called PopCap Loader from PopCap Games company. It is a Web plug-in that provides Web update features. "
Take a look at Funky Farm, a casual strategy game I developed.
If you are looking for classic online games like chess, othello, canasta etc. but without the hassle of pop-ups, flash ads etc., Kurnik Online Games (http://www.kurnik.org/) is the web site to go.
You'll find there many useful features like full games archive (for replaying), resizable game boards (hardly any site with casual games allows that), instant messaging etc. etc.
All games and features are free there of course
(it's community supported).
Is is just me, or is this site sorely lacking a "filter by platform" control. There's no way of telling if a game is for mobile phone, Java, Flash, Windows-only or whatever before you click on it.
That detracts a lot from its usefulness for me.
Be careful. People in masks cannot be trusted.
