Bram may not like it, but one of the best things about sharing the source code, is that the 'market' so to speak will determine now where this protocol goes. If Bram doesn't like it, that's his right, but I expect the masses are going to use the program that best offers the features they want. And uTorrent and Azureus are the two 'big boys' on the block right now. And if someone can improve it further on down the road, the whole bittorrent history has shown that users will try it, especially if they aren't happy with the 'old' program they use.
Well they will keep doing stuff like this until...

If this this only has HDMI connectors, how in the world do they expect people to buy this? Both of my HDTVs use component inputs, and I would only buy something with component output on the unit. Is there any way to "convert" the HDMI to component? (i.e. some kinda dongle or something)
So if the high-nitrogren content in Pluto's atmosphere causes this, would not a slight increase in the nitrogen content (say from the current 78% up to 79-80%) reverse any 'global warming' here on earth? I wonder if any research has been attempted on this...
yes it's kinda cool they name objects in the Uranus system after characters in Shakespeare... Although for once, I would like to see a few Harry Potter names out there... hehe
You know, give it a more 'modern' sense of things:)
Who says businesses can't learn by watching the RIAA and their tactics? Hell, I think everyone here realizes that - if the RIAA could get away with it - they would charge us for every time we have the privilige of *listening* to a song! As someone else pointed out, Bellsouth is obviously going to do whatever it takes to protect their phone business, and shut out VOIP (i.e. Sony-type tactics in a way)
I think someone needs to tell the FBI to go screw itself... Cisco too for that matter. It just keeps getting worse and worse. De Fuehrer Dubya, Congress and the Patriot Act should all be dismissed so we can just start over again (a new Constitutional Congress maybe)
In spite of all the grief Dvorak receives for his "fortune telling" of things to come, he certainly has hit the mark this time, IMHO. While I'm sure there are some honest people in MS's Research division, don't think for one moment that Mr. Gates and Co. isn't looking for a way to discredit Bittorrent, just like they did with Netscape and Real and anyone else that gets in the way...
Why do you think Slashdot's icon for Microsoft is a borgified Bill Gates!
Kudos to Mr. Dvorak. Like they say: where there's crap, there's flies...
Sounds like it, and the first salvos have gone back and forth... having read both, I have to give the points in the first round to Bram. Microsoft won't find him so easy to push around, methinks.
Being completely awake to the situation in, and directly affected by, the U.S. of A. does mean cynicism and apathy, when one also feels that their choices are limited to marching up and down a pavement or casting a vote into an unreliable and corrupted election, or writing a letter to one of the heads of the enemy in Washington.
Well said! You certainly said it better than I could have, but we are certainly on the 'same page' here. Thanks:)
P.S. Just out of curiousity, where did you move to? If something can't be done here, I'm kinda partial to Sweden myself...

Is it me or is this a disturbing precedent? Just one step closer to "Papers, comrade" everywhere you go...

Ouch - man that's gonna leave a mark....
Anyone have a torrent for it?
Saddam Hussien claimed he was beaten by attorneys for the RIAA...
I agree...a specific 'probe' could be sent up to continue studying the seventh planet....

That's no moon.... that's a Klingon Battlestation!

" All your RSS are belong to us..."
...A lifetime of ridicule here at Slashdot! They have won our FUD-zombies of the day award! *giggle*
... does this have the obvious meaning of Microsoft 'burying' its competition? heh

If you see the google truck coming make sure you moon them as they go by. It would make a nice "easter egg" for google maps ;)
/.ed!
Heh, or how about a sign on the lawn that says "If you can read this, you're following too closely!" haha
Of course... if they catch my wife sunbathing on the deck in the nude, Google might get
