  3. Small game developers on Take-Two to Publish Next Civilization Game · · Score: 0

I run www.distortionfile.com , and Distorttionsoft, our small software development. My games are currently free, and I'm wondering, with all the talent in the world today, will there be a place for another small time company to make it big?

  4. Software Copyrights on Lawsuit Filed Against Software Copyright · · Score: 0

I am the owner of Distortionsoft, the software division of www.distortionfile.com. I write and offer games on my website for purchase. I have currnetly aquired niether a patent nor a copyright for the games I develope. I request in my installer that noone manipulate or modify the game code, but do not request that users not distribute my software. I have so far found this to be effective, but fear that my characters may be stolen. If they make it even harder for me to be protected against this threat, It will not be possible for me to do so. And I will just have to hope that noone steals what is essentially my lifes work. There is a short game demo available for download on my site now that reflects what my potential is, and an explaination of future plans. I also write shorts stories on my site that are other wise un-published or protected. If someone profited from these materials without my consent, I would be powerless to stop them without the ability to gain copyrights. I don't think this decision is fair to small time developers like me. Please adress replies to blakecrawford@distortionfile.com

  5. Games aren't bad for you? on Robbers Scared by GTA · · Score: -1, Offtopic

Now I, Distortion of Distortionfile.com, am an avvid gamer. I spend what ever time I'm not working, playing ultra violent video games. I feel that these games to affect my agressivness, and violent tendancies. This does not mean I can't control those emotions, simply that they exist. Now, what those robbers where doing, isn't that basically the whole point of GTA? If playing a game like GTA can make you grow violent, theres a chance it can make you perform crimes. What if these robbers played GTA a few hours before commiting this crime? I'm not in any way trying to blame games for violent behavior, just stating that a game as violence and crime driven as GTA is (after all, those sirens and police do mean you are killing innocent people) may be potentially damaging to minds which are too young for the content. I call the parents to make sure immature children are not playing this game and getting the wrong idea about things. I'm sure they know it's just a game, but do they know that their a bad guy? Do they understand that this character lives outside the law at all times, and will never be a bonafied citizen again? Hell know they don't know it! They would understand it if they did! That's why parental advisories have the word parent in there, as in, their responsability, right? ~Distortion

  7. Unfair buisness on Apple Threatens iTunes.co.uk Owner · · Score: 0

I just got my domain name www.distortionfile.com a month ago. Since then, I got a ping from a whois service. Now, if who ever that was had the money to copyright DistortionFile, they could kick me off my own domain, right? If so, that's just bullshit. Excuse the language but first come first serve. Purchasing a domain name should mean you own the rights to that particular arrangment of the name. Regardless of copyright. IF who ever searched my name opens up distortionfile.net, I wouldn't try to sue them for having the same Idea as me. For shame...

  8. FireFox, Whats that? on Firefox Users Bad For Advertisers · · Score: 0

I run www.distortionfile.com. Of the people that visit my site 8.2 % use, fire fox, 3.1 % use, mozilla, 87 % use IE, and 0.1 % use Netscape. If FireFox is bad for advertisers, they might not have too much to worry about. But interenet explorer is cracking down of pop-up ads like nobides buisness. I haven't seen a single one since I installed SP2, when it came out. Advertisers will just have to find more legitamate ways to promote their sites than to bombard their visitors with pop-up ads that cover your actual content. The right ads should blend in with a sites theme. Match the page's color, background, and so on. I find that makes ad's much more appealing to me. ~Distortion.

  9. Prisoners playing games? on Missouri Prisons Pull Violent Video Games · · Score: 0

Okay, so is anyone looking at this as outrageous? I'm not worried that they can't play violent video games. I'm worried that they can play any games. I mean, these people are incarserated because they did not conform to legal standards. Many of them are cold blooded killers. It's wrong to give killers a taste of what they love when there being punished for doing it. More over, jail is supposed to scare you straight. I'm no longer as worried about jail if I can still do the only thing I really ever do. I think the FBI should track anyone who even buys Hitman games, I mean come on, a contract killer? How negative an imfluence does that have on the Human physchi? I know, I played the game. You sneak up behind unsuspecting, in many instinances even innocent people and strangle them to death with piano wire. I was once discussing with a friend in school this game, and was overheard by the principle at my High-School. It took hours to convince them I was talkking about a game and not and actual act that I intended to perform. I say it's a good thing. ~Distortion

  10. Spyware and free downloads on Given Up to Spyware? · · Score: 0

Well, the thing to look at here is that the software that comes with this spyware, are we considering it still reputable? I have found that if you install a program which has spyware, then you run a spyware eliminator, the program you wanted is generally unaffected. What most people don't realize is that you don't have to download anything to get spy-ware. It can download to your computer from an impure website through active x controls, java, and can even be stored as data miner cookies. With privacy becoming more and more of an issue is this country, we are already locking spammers up behind bars, where spyware is just the other end of spamming, becuase thats how they determine what to spam you with. Should it not also be illegal? What ever the case, you do not have to accept it. Ad-Aware is the utility I use to clean such software from my computer, it works very well and is available at www.lavasoft.com. ~Distortion
