Internet radio stations have to buy more broadband for each listner - unlike convtional radio stations. Multicasting never happened but what about a broadcast torrent-type thing? Where you reciever is also re-broadcasting. I'm sure there must be thing like this out there but since I've never heard of it, it cann't be widely adopted.
I use TLS on Postfix. The first command any complain mailer does is: STARTTLS and the remainder of the conversation is enctypeed (including HELO, RECIP, etc and the mail header). If you are admin of a mail server check out TLS.
ms is that they are Transport Independent. Maybe Western Union emails them or phones them to their local office then maybe they phone, fax, email, hand deliver or carrier pigeon the message the last few miles. It is (was) cool because a company is ensuring your message is delivered. If the guy doesn't answer the phone, then they hand deliver it or they could use FedEx even. Its like have a secretary. Too bad its gone.
Yeah, this was international. I looked into that and the cost of mailing a letter quickly (4 business days) was more than Western Union. This is with Xpresspost. Also there is a service fee for the money order. If I didn't have to send it quickly I could have used regular air mail and a money order and that would be cheaper.
I had need to send somebody this month and they requested that I use Western Union. I was so surprised. Online it would have cost me a C$40 service fee and it appears that it would have done a cash advance on my credit card. I went to an office and it cost a flat rate of C$20 and I used by debit card. Still a ripoff if you ask me. But I looked around and could find and alternatives for non-Internet savvy people on the receiving end. The guy got the money.
Yeah, I agree, now Skype seems really cheap. And compared to Telcos it is. But when they get a monopoly - not so much. Kinda like how Microsoft freed us from the shackles of mainframes only to later enslave us (Sorry about the melodramatic language)
Letters are sealed so its hard to pretend it wasn't opened en route. No so with phone calls. Maybe they should briefly interrupt your call with a message:
"the department of arbitrary surveillance is recording this call - thank you citizen"
So does this mean the NSA (or some other branch of the government) doesn't already know whats going on? Have they shown their hand or are they being very sly poker players and making it seem that they don't know.
With present machines if you want to add a USB drive, just plug it in. But then where does it physically sit around. On your desk, I guess. If there are many such add-ons it becomes messy. So this design sorta addresses the mess issue.
I'd like to see a standard spec for stacking (verically) components. They can be connected at the back with USB.
So you'd have a firefox account for each human user! In other words you want: number_of_users * number_of_apps accounts. Doesn't seem like a nice, simple, elegant solution. Perhaps we need something like subusers - which would be a user within a user.

Now we can truely say that Linux is ready for the desktop!
Um, can I edit my menus yet?
Maybe the author is suggest multiple RAID enclosures in case on fails.
(But probably not)
If you have the money, why not?

Did you notice the Reuters article had a screenshot of Google News. ;-)
Did they get permission or is it fair use
Why would Google (and any company competing with Microsoft) want to run Windows internally?!
How about... make a solar panel that's more than N% efficient?
Wow, they caught a guy advertizing the code for sale. Genious!

Gizmo is standards based.
Yeah it evil and all but who has a dual core laptop?
I wish I did.
Not just non-evil. This is useful and interesting stuff.

Would actually be better than today.
I get 54Mbps on WiFi now. That's more than fast enough for VoIP.

This is my 1000th comment on Slashdot!
Once the ticket is data (ie an SMS message) why can't it just be forwarded to all your friends?
Why can't something that gets removed from the Earth and never replaced run out?!
Why is that such a crazy idea?!
I say: Of course it'll run out.
This guy had a cute idea but what about the ugly cables from the fake books to the TV. And it should be in a book shelf!!!

For me in Firefox on Windows 2000 too.
Does the same sort of thing when playing a song.
Do you think that's a good idea?
