Sure the main difference between Doom 1 & 3 is graphics (And the lack of teamwork-mode in Doom 3, as well as originality). That's why almost every review of doom 3 basically goes 'great graphics, bad gameplay. nothing to see here, move along, move along.
Compare HL1 with HL2 tho. Huge difference. Proof that games can get better with age.
I got addicted to games because they are better than real life. I have social skills (Although arguably less than most since i am a self-proclaimed hermit). I just chose not to use them, as I chose not to before the internet when I read books and comics. Anyone else here rememb er 'before the internet'?
And your complaints about lonely guys and our declining society only begs me to ask... Are you saying this because your a lonely guy whos just trying to confess? Because I know ALOT of gamers that have lives outside of gaming.
I personally have no issues with Steam. Couple bugs when initally started up but I actually find it alot more convient than any other model. And considering it let me purchase and download the game while I'm not in an area where I can buy it from a store, it has something I can't get elsewhere - Legal purchase of a new game Yay for me.
Those who have issues with steam need to realize nothing new ever runs smoothly. And something as awsome as HL2 is well worth a couple bugs.
I guess I'm in the minority... I liked the ending. It left me hungry for 3. More than 1 left me for 2. I'm hoping they do the same for 3. But then again... like I said, I'm in the Minority here by my guestamate.
As for game of the year, In my eyes it's Half-Life 2 hands down. Then again, I know alot of people still piss and moan about late release, problems with valve, blah blah. I'd like to see someone do a better job instead of crying about it personally.
I'm in Iraq atm and I haven't quite had a chance to play WoW yet. But I have heard alot of good things about it. From what i've heard alone I would have to agree that these have to be the two best games out this year, amoung many good games (definetly not counting Doom 3. Lets hope the expansion fixes that crap-tacular game)
That's just my 2 cents. I love computer games and HL2 was Definitely worth the wait, as I'm sure WoW will be.
I think I'm missing something here. In this hypothetical situation a hacker fakes piracy on legitamite customers and valve is the one that's evil? Your right. The hacker would be the hero fighting for the little man. I never would have thought of that before.
with the rampant piracy in the world something needs to be done. Quit yer bitching about someone actually trying to fix the system and build a better mouse trap since you obviously know all.
Steam isn't perfect. But despite their problems i have no fear in buying from them. God I love HL2 and DoD.
Realms of Dispair.

Can use the Java client thru the webpage.
Another good option is a program like zMud from www.zuggsoft.com (they should have some free older versions of the client for trying).
It's been awhile since I played MUD's seriously but with zMud comes a database of different Muds to pick and chose from. I suggest Realms of Dispair as it's a populated and newbie friend server (atleast it was. Don't know as I've been busy in Iraq for awhile now). Good to start there and get a feel for Mudding and then try other servers if you like it.
10 seconds before you orgasm? I'd be AC if I did that as well. You seriously need to find some books or medicine for that one. Obvoiusly the jokes on you buddy.
Either that or SuperMom on flights between soccer games and all those Buisness Entrepuinuirs who conduct buisness 24/7 trading stocks at 2 am in the morning or what not keeping the soccer mom and her tired kid awake.
The road goes both ways.
And sorry about my speeling. I never did hucket one fonikz.

That would explain all the AC's afraid to come out into the open. snicker.

As always... my 2 cents.
