I work in a RadioShack store where we sell iPaq's and these things are nice. I was very impressed with the usuability and features they manage to pack into the little things, and the ability to install Linux on them doesn't hurt at all.:)
Check out this site for more info on that: http://www.ipaqlinux.com
We sell quite a few of them and as far as I know we have had zero returns. That's a good sign.
A little websearch shows that you can get them in all shapes and sizes these days with a good spread in price: http://www.storescanner.com/cat/Compaq-PDAs.asp
If you aren't already on the PDA bandwagon and are thinking of giving it a try, I highly recommend giving one of these baby's a look.
This is incredibly short sighted and probably actually contributes more spam than it stops. If current Verizon customers want to be able to send mail with a non Verizon return address they must get their return email host to open up relaying for Verizon IP's. In this scenario, it wouldn't take very long for spammers to start sending their bulk mail from Verizon IP's because of an increased likelyhook of finding open relays.
In short, by Verizon doing this they may have inadvertantly created an island haven for spammers to circumvent current anti-spam mechanisms.
Not only that, it completely defeats the purpose of having a local mail relay in the first place. Verizon customers who can't send mail the way they want will start running their own smtp servers, which will probably be misconfigured, once again creating more opportunity for spammers. WinSMPT anyone?
Finally, it seems like a rather Draconian policy to force all of your ISP customers to use your service for email. What's next? Are they going to start advertising in the emails? Compiling information on their customer base?
A lot of people here are saying that Chuck D is doing this for less than good reasons, I disagree. Public Enemy has always been force for social change and this move by them doesn't surprise me one bit. Chuck D has been a very vocal supporter of online music, including the mp3 format and Napster, as well as an enemy of the recording industry and establishment.
In this day and age of "Bling Bling" and other trivial song writting in the hip hop genre it's good to see politically and social active intelligent group with something powerful to say. Even if you don't like the music, Public Enemy and Chuck D deserve your respect.
It's posted on efnet website (linked above by Michael) that the servers being DOS's are the same ones Dianora has IRCOP on. I'd say it's more than just a rumor.
More of the same. Anyone with any knowledge on the matter knows that Linux has far more installs than sales figures point out by a wide margin.
Netcraft is probably the best data we have on this, but even that is lacking.
Just ignore any information pertaining to the number of Linux installs, it is all just guesstimations, and yes that includes information that makes Linux installs look good.
I work at a Radioshack and we have had advertisements running since October for a 2 way satellite service. The service being offered is the Microsoft network and it's got a large download which I forget but only 128kb up. Some customers who were existing DirectPC customers were able to get it already, but I understand they had a lot of problems with the rollout and right now you can't get it. It didn't scale well over 2000 customers apparently. If you talk to your local Radioshack guy you might be able to get in on it though, worth a shot. (assuming you would even want this...)
Unfortunate, but true. Well, more power to the world. It will be nice if there ever comes a time when no significant distinction can be made between one country's freedoms and the next country's freedoms.
All of which doesn't have a god damned thing to do with what he was saying. Since your reading comprehension appears to be straight out of... well, a US public school, let me help you. His statement was in reference to the fact that you can't protest in the US anymore without becoming a criminal.
Ah... there it is, I had to scroll halfway down the page to find the obligatory Katz bashing post that time.
Katz is doing much better these days.
One scary scenario, would he changed the code?

If a hacker got into sourceforge, it seems to me that it wouldn't be too difficult to write a utility for the purpose of introducing holes into source code. There are already utilities that can scan your source for common security problems (buffer overflows for instance), I'm thinking of a utility the opposite of this which scans code for common places where a buffer overflow could be useful to an attacker and then modifys the code to be insecure. Naturally an automated utility is going to have a high failure rate, but running it on something like sourceforge would still probably net a few things.
Myst 3 has been available for download to warez kiddies since before the first disk was put into a retail box, and safedisc copy protection has generic cracks to fix it that are freely available for download at numerous sites.
My point is, this is doing nothing more than annoying their customers, it sure as hell isn't impacting the pirates. So why do companies do it? I don't know. If I had to guess I would say that someone in management says "Copy protect this title" and the programmers who know better don't want to waste their time so they just tell them to buy safedisc or something similar.

Seems to be a pretty nice case actually. In all honesty I wouldn't mind having it, but the primary reason I wont buy it is because I want to build my own. Although it's cool (heh) to have a water cooled case, it's infinately cooler if you built it yourself.
Yeah well it's an international domain, perhaps English is not his first language.

The point is, placing the engine at the top is not any easier to balance than placing it at the bottom. That's not to say that it is harder, but it isn't any easier. So in reference to your question, yes you can. Whatever works with one design works with the other as far as aerodynamics are concerned.
That said placing the engine at the top is a losing design. You don't gain stability but you add complexity and weight in that you have to get the trust to the bottom of the rocket and pump your fuel against gravity.
Why should addictions interfere with your life? What if your "addiction" -is- your life? If my addiction is my life, then how can it be interfering with my life? What do you mean by life?
If I'm not on the fast track to getting rich and have a wife, kids, dog, suburban, boat and ranch home does that mean I don't have a life? If I choose to spend my time coding instead of persuing those things then is my "coding addiction" interfering with my life? If I'm already married and I choose to start spending all of my time on IRC instead of with my wife, did I make a lifestyle change or did I let an addiction "ruin my life"?
at 32 people you have way surpassed the point where headphones are required imho. Most of the lan parties I have been to (not a lot, 2 dozen or so) that had more than 10 people had a headphones requirement.

This is just wrong in so many ways.

EFnet DOS'd because of Dianora. Anybody with any longtime experience on efnet is probably not surprised by this.
Shes the biggest example of a power tripping elitist megalomanic ircop ever.
I just found out that that IS why they are under attack. I swear to god I didn't know that beforehand.
Speaking from experience, they are probably pissed off at Dianora.
Yeah... getting old does that.

Ok so if this is the kind of thing that would destroy music (says the RIAA), I would assume that there are no musicians in Denmark?
I mean, surely if they aren't using the RIAA's system then nobody over there is bothering to compose music! Right?

Good point! Nobody watches games that they aren't playing!
