Yes, I remember how Apple shamelessly stole not only the functionality, but the look of Proteron's LiteSwitch. Sure, Proteron took the concept from Window's alt-tab window-switching behavior, but they added new functionality that allowed users to control apps' behaviors in ways that weren't thought of. They also included mouse drag-and-drop functionality.
Apple took it all, except some of the power-features --probably to avoid a lawsuit, I assume.
Apple has long-lost the devotion of the artists and power users... this I attribute to their overt focus on mobile.
Two words to explain why Apple does what they do...
Planned obsolescence.
The guy in that video even made a video called "Apple uses spite to force planned obsolescence. Watch $750 tier 4 repair"
Apple solders in the base RAM chip in a place it's not readily-accessible. They glue their slim, aluminum laptops together. The fact that they don't even give their users repair manuals stinks. I accidentally broke a wireless keyboard because I didn't know of a connector's location and..well, no repair parts I can easily buy. Off to the landfuckingfill.
I used to be an ardent supporter of Apple. Since the iPhone, they just suck.
I remember being so freaked out and in awe when my friend showed me DOOM video-out piped through an ASCII rendering engine and playing it in real-time... with colored characters, to boot!
Watch the TV series "Continuum". No wonder why it got pulled before the story finished. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did given its stoutly anti-corporate theme.
My thoughts, exactly. I don't care if there's newer-and-better-and-faster out there. My 6-yo iPhone on the same iOS it came with are more than enough for my mobile computing and communication needs.
'Why spend more energy to replace what I don't need to' is my argument for not upgrading. This applies to myriad items, such as cars, clothes, etc.
MY advice: spend your extra money on excellent-quality food.
This was done before when cellphones were slightly larger and had an antenna. The version I remember seeing in the late-90s/early-2000s had three rounds stored and would be fired via one of the number buttons on the phone's dialing interface, e.g., 7,8,9.
That you got a Score 5 Interesting is most-interesting to me. I'm still having difficulty parsing the last part of your sentence: "...on top of the tolls?"
Will apple change a 30% fee for any toll usages will there cars on top of the tolls?
"You didn't give me any fries.. I got an empty box."
"Please come back when you can afford to make a purchase. Your kids are starving. Carl's Jr. believes no child should go hungry. You are an unfit mother. Your children will be placed in the custody of Carl's Jr.
This announcement, while still unofficial as a company policy, is moving the conversation in the right direction, but if the government wants to do something, they'll do it... I can see all cockamamie reasons, such as 'aiding and abetting criminal activity.'
I'd be the first to get a Blackphone (maybe roll-your-own-Android, if possible) if Apple caves-in regarding government-mandated backdoors. Personally, I just don't see how removing encryption from public-use would ever work. If there's ever a case where I'd rather sacrifice some convenience for security, this is it... even if it means giving up smartphones.
Money is a scarce resource, and it strikes me as idiotic in the extreme to think that we should spend money on the brainless notion that "everyone" should be a programmer.
I couldn't think of a better way to turn away more prospective minds from programming by shoving it down their throat as a requirement... It's like making it a serving of lima beans. You better believe I'm going to half-chew and not enjoy it.
Programming/CS should be an elective. Let's not forget that its base is in a sound understanding of mathematics... which should be enforced more... not programming for the sake of programming, alone.
What, you didn't know that it's becoming commonplace in China to birth your child onto a keyboard to really start them early??
Exactly why you don't see a three-meter springboard at a public pool, anymore. Even the one-meter boards are smaller and stiffer (and, IMHO, more unsafe.)
I'm sure someone with a more acute knowledge of political history could best my lame, Hollywood reference. Political history is rife with idiocy so it's easy to retrofit certain events to the current times.
Hey, because "Robots are strong."

**woosh!**
U.S. law enforcement asked Apple for information 4,000 times, covering 16,112 devices in the second half of 2015.
Which equals 4.028 phones per request. So it's like the gov is looking at groups of people more than individuals.

over 75% of people say they don't trust being driven by a robot driver.
Essentially, it sounds like we don't mind being taken away from a disaster by a robot, but we do mind being driven into one.
I wonder how students are going to be expected to code when it's heavily-reliant on mathematics.

Not if Monsanto has anything to say about it.

First off, you shouldn't be able to run this command unless you're root. Otherwise you'd have to sudo.
Exactly... and how about just mapping said command to
echo "I'm sorry, Dave, I can't do that."
my favorite show ever is Star Trek TSG. Picard will always be my captain.
