The price of gas isn't directly reflective of the price of oil, as it takes time to sell the gas refined from oil that costed more per barrel. Once those stocks are sold, the cheaper oil ends up making the gas cheaper. The other problem is there's less refineries than there were 20 years ago, IIRC, so that we have this cheap of a gas price is kind of amazing to me.
The Navy's next destroyer... Beef Supreme.
Buddha, Jesus, et al. ilk all knew that material possessions, beyond the necessaries, were nothing but a drag on the human spirit.
I've the belief that many/.ers think the same... that mental strength trumps the physical and is ultimately more important to cultivate --'The pen is mightier than the sword' and all that jazz...
Income inequality has risen since at least Reagan, don't act like it's something new.
It really started with the Gold Reserve Act in 1934 (outlawing private gold possession). The Federal Reserve (and its ensuing policy) and Income Tax didn't help (and are two of the ten planks of the Communist Manifesto), but it started with Nixon lowering the top-earners' taxes --Definitely noted that Reagan lowered them much more than Nixon did, too.
Nope. Not unless her mutation isn't found in nature and had to be manipulated to be created.
From SCOTUS' ruling in 2013 about BRCA1/2: "A naturally occurring DNA segment is a product of nature and not patent eligible merely because it has been isolated."
So instead let's just not have safety devices because they might fail.
It's called a gun lock... every responsible owner has one for each gun or rifle they have. Gun lockers/safes are good options, too. Most gun owners that get their gun used on them have zero experience using firearms. Tech can always be circumvented so it's not gonna work on guns anymore than the administration so desperately wants.
I still get a chuckle about the time when Windows crashed and took down a battleship. If cars crashed like peoples' desktops, it'd look like a crash-up derby on the city streets...
The joke used to be, "The day Microsoft starts making a product that doesn't suck is the day they start making vacuum cleaners."
To be fair, Macintosh used to be an acronym for Most Applications Crash If Not The Operating System Hangs.
They should! You can't revert/restore an iPhone 4 with anything less than iTunes 12.xx, yet you also can't install iTunes 12.x on older OSes, like 10.6. SO, while I'd like to update my iPhone's OS, I am constrained because of software issues...that they caused. The thing is, you can update your phone on almost any version of Windows via iTunes, thus giving Windows users more choice. I knew Apple's OS was going downhill when there's more animations and less pertinent information being available, e.g., Finder file transfers do not show the transfer rate.
You have that wrong... Microsoft, integrating a free browser into their OS, Internet Explorer, was the reason for the first antitrust suit against MS. That they gave discounts to companies to not install Netscape.
concise, commented code (English) is a necessary evil; learning version/revision principals (History); and ethical/socioeconomic impacts of the apps/programs/data that are created (Civics).
I'm all for AE - Artificial Empathy. Too many companies act as sociopaths... I'd hate to see their values be programmed into any artificial consciousness.
Tell that to all the people that lost half to two-thirds of their portfolio value (and maybe their house) in 2008.. Sure, the market's roaring back, but unless those people kept their stocks and mutual funds (which I doubt they could have afforded to), they're in shambles as to how they're going to eek out an existence after all their well-laid plans to retire crumbled.
Eventually, only the poor will die. You'll be able to see a clear delineation between the haves and have-nots at some point with this tech. Unless it's affordable, like stem cell tech should be, it'll only be the domain of a select few. Cloning and robotics will be the remaining tech that caters to the whim of the elite. Read all about it.. Most all sci-fi stories eventually all go in this dystopian direction.
Wha? With that, you have to add AT&T, Comcast, Apple, Sony, Google, Samsung, Oracle, et al. to the list... I see no reason why you have a 2, Informative. All the major tech companies lobby congress for business practices that favor their position in the marketplace.
Parts of your comments are subjective, like having a fascination with the Universe, in general, being a factor in being a good programmer. But, I think teaching programming is no different than teaching art... you can't force good art out of someone.
You can teach some people some of the stuff, but you can't teach all the people about all the stuff.
That was my first thought.. it's just packing the carbon atoms tighter together... big deal.

The noise is annoying, yes...
I now have a mental image of the coming Amazon drone-delivery system... a bunch of noisy leaf blowers all buzzing around the sky... great.

Cisco's researchers also thwarted the activity of another group of cyber-criminals that made around $30 million from distributing ransomware.
When stupid amounts of untraceable money is involved, the inside-job becomes more of a reality.
Why do Americans want so much?

Basically, a small screwup by a civilian created a annual military tradition...
Yes, but what if you could control your Nintendo with Play-Doh? Or make a piano from bananas?

So would that make Star Trek fans more empathetic?

But it does make me wonder, more and more everyday, if I'm reading something a human wrote or a bot.

With a headline like that, I expected to be laughing at the comments.

Neil Degrass Tyson - Cause I can learn something about the stars.
You were the closest regarding my choice... I'd choose Carl Sagan, without hesitation.
