i just got an xbox a few months ago, i like the controllers a lot.. i hate the PSX/PS2 type controllers

  2. Re:"Advanced Hunt-and-Peck" works on Blank Keyboard · · Score: 1

Yeah i do the same (typing without a keyboard).. although im probably screwed up because i cant really talk or understand people.. i type/read way faster than i can talk/hear.. and i cant write at all, i'm always thinking of letters way ahead of what im writing and i make tons of mistakes and i forget how to spell words.. so what i do is type with my "air keyboard" and once im "typing" i suddenly can spell the word im trying to write heh

and yeah, i'm a bit slower now that i work on all types of keyboards, but when i was just a hermit in my room i was typing really fast

i noticed though, my wrists never bother me but everyone i know who types a lot using the correct method is always complaining about wrist ache.. how are your wrists?

  3. Re:I call bullshit on 100wpm hunt-and-peck on Blank Keyboard · · Score: 1

as i said, theres no hunting involved.. ive never taken a typing class but ive been typing since i was 7 (im 22 now)

so its my own style, my hand just moves all around the keyboard, well now that i look at it my left hand sort of hovers over the left side and my right moves all around mainly using my right pointer finger (right pinky for backspace), thumb+pointer for the ( ) i just typed, left pinky for caps lock (as i said i dont use shift to do uppercase)

left thumb is always space bar, etc

  4. not for me on Blank Keyboard · · Score: 1

first off, i never look at my keyboard anyway so having no text wont speed up my typing

and second, the different weighted keys wont help me because i dont type correctly, i'm a "speed hunt-and-pecker" (minus the hunt part), i can type about 100wpm using my method (which also involves caps lock instead of using shift, yeah i'm weird)

so if i typed with that keyboard id probably get around 30wpm with lots of typos

p.s. when did slashdot start using script protection when posting? (i need to type some text to confirm im not a script before i can submit this)

so what you're saying is, if they come out with a 100gb writable blue-ray disc for $6, and you can backup your whole system on just 1 disc for $6.. you'd consider that too expensive???

i bought a 160gb hard drive for $90 to use as a backup and i thought that was reasonable and im a cheap bastard

i'd prefer 4 layers, 25gb per layer but only 25 usable, that way you can have 4 layers with the same 25gb but offset each layer by ~33%.. if it cant read a bit on 1 layer, read the bit 33% over on layer 2, if layer 2 is bad, layer 3, etc

    id buy that!

yeah but it doesnt always work.. i NEVER want to see 2 firefox windows in my taskbar

also maybe its because i just use the zipped edition, but when i click links on sites like gmail, itll open a blank tab (seems like it does this for new windows. so it opens the new window AND a tab with no url)

after reading my gmail ill notice like 3 instances of firefox loaded in my taskbar and they'll all have like 5 blank tabs loaded

    really flakey

plus operas tabs are more responsive and im addicted to ctrl+shift+click (open in BACKGROUND)

plus as i said, its so customized, it has ie buttons/custom buttons, modified history window, etc

it seems lots of people choose FF cause of adblock.. well i use proxomitron and i havent seen ads/popups in 4 years

  13. opera on Which is Better, Firefox or Opera? · · Score: 1

ive been using opera since 4.x.. but only on-and-off.. it wasnt until 6.0 that i switched. 6.0 was amazing, as is 7, havent upgraded to 8 yet (i customized 7 so much im scared to upgrade.. same with 6 but i eventually did it)

i cant get used to firefox.. it has tabs but it still likes to open new windows sometimes.. opera is ALWAYS self contained in its own window

plus i think i have ocd and i hate change
