Is MS's threats liable or slander? It seems that they always throw around that "we'll protect our Intellectual Property..." line a lot, but no one seems to have a clue what their talking about. As far as I know, making unsubstantiated claims like that for the purpose of scaring corporations away from Linux is illegal (called liable or slander I think). It's akin to "Brand X" claiming "Brand Y kills a puppy every time you use their product", when they don't. Can someone shed some light on this issue? Does Linux infringe upon MS IP, and if it doesn't, why hasn't Redhat or someone sued them to shut up?
I agree with most of what your saying,...but I hate that acronimn. It sounds like "newspeak" form 1984, a simplified nonsense word used to dumb-down complex ideas. Keep saying what your saying, but could you ease up with the use of "FUD"...ugh!
Thanks and goodluck
Why oh why do we not have transcontinental high speed train service in the USA??? Have you ever traveled through LAX during the holiday season? Our current situation is comparable to having only one pipe for High Speed Internet access. We need more options. We need to quit bailing out the automotive industry and start subsidizing our rail network.
I used to play D&D, and loved it. However, over the years I was turned off by all the expansion books that were available for each race, class, worlds. If I was going to get back into D&D, I would restrict myself to the core three books, PM, DMG, and MM. D&D was always about the story telling ability of the DM anyhow, Min/Maxing just took from the game.
My bad, I didn't make myself clear enough. I wasn't referring to making cuts to all Scientific Exploration. I was referring specifically to a maned mission to Mars. I'm all for robotic exploration, I think we need more of it. I'm just not sure we're considering a Maned mission to Mars for the right reasons. When I heard Bush mention it the first time, it sounded like such an election day promise. I'm worried that under his administration, a maned mission to Mars would be more about the "pictures" and less about the "note taking".
Picture this, a great PR shot of GW himself, standing on Mars in a space suit, with a huge banner behind him with the words "Mission Accomplished". Maybe we can have him bring the shuttle, or whatever brings them back to earth, in manually "from the hip". He can land it at his ranch in Texas, and have a big barbecue after to celebrate....YEE-HAW!!!
I love scientific discovery and exploration too, but I also respect the rule of Finance. Can we afford this? Seriously, we're spending like 1,000 "Library's of Congress's" a month in Iraq, and I don't think our coffers can handle a serious economic outlay like a trip to Mars. What does everyone think?
Seriously, it'll probably be an easy read. Once self aware computers arise, it'll probably take them no time at all to discern the nature of 99% of everyone alive.
Please tell me that the ISS is in a geosynchronous orbit that won't degrade so fast that it'll be hurtling back to earth in less then 20 years. If we do have to shut it down temporarily, I don't want to have to rebuild it all over again once we get an idea to reignite our space efforts.
This is just so they can now neglect the female elements in their code lines. Sorry Graphics guy, there just isn't as much work for now there's no need to develope female skins and other stuff. Sorry, times are tough.
I'm planning on buying two iPhones for my wife and I for Christmas. One of the iPhones most appealing characteristics for me is how accommodating its been for developers of 3rd party applications. I've no intention of unlocking the phone and going over to t-mobile, I don't have a problem with AT&T (I want visual voice mail too). But I will reconsider if Apple starts going after developers. Whether it's lawsuits or updates that constantly ruin apps, it's my dollars that are at issue here and I plan on making the best decision for me. Now, if there's an occasional update that breaks something, that's not too much of an issue. After all, I don't expect Apple to start supporting 3rd party apps. But there is a point in my mind, that if Apple crosses and makes things too "locked in", sorry Apple, taking my ball/dollars and going home. The iPhone is at a real crossroads here and Christmas may be what makes or breaks it. I know the phone has been successful, but not as successful as many had hoped. With the negative press the sudden price breaks caused (how price breaks gets bad press is beyond me), Apple should be trying to appear as accommodating as possible between now and February.
woops, thanks. That's what I get for depending upon spellcheck too much.

btw - NC State is the Wolfpack, not Tarheel's (UNC). But they also hate Duke, so your headline still works.
That's stinking funny.
It allows atomic level photographs to be viewed in sepia.
...and I thought that was the purpose of Chemistry (101).
So, will it make my Ironman watch run backwards? OR block out all neural activity?

How is this modded "Offtopic"? The story was submitted by kdawson. Calling into question the source shouldn't be considered "offtopic".
That's one of the funniest sigs I've read in a while. btw, I'm also a born-again Christian.
...haven't done any research, but I've been tricked by kdawson before. As far as I'm concerned, kdawson = "suspect".

Itsatrap ...oh, wait. Wrong mega company trying to take over the world.
Documentation, NOOOOOO!!!!!!! ...it's a dirty job, but someone better do it.
So basically this was a "Earmarked Project". ...I'm seriously considering not paying taxes anymore.
...and recently patented.

Tell that to Accounting.
