You missed the point. You can't buy a Veyron, they aren't out yet. Dauer is out of business and you can't buy a McClaren new unless its a SLR and that cost less than 400k . The op stated that people buy cars and then do not realize how much maintenance it requires and ends up costing a lot more.
McClaren F1 holds its value well and so does other collector cars. So buying a collector car for 750k is not going to cost you 180k in maintenance and insurance. If you pay one million, the market is out there that you can sell it for one million.
Problem is like you said most lottery winners and flash in the pan types end up bankrupt within a few years, but its not because they bought a 750,000 car.
Are you going to believe the original film maker who made that commentary. Or are you going to believe some anonymous dude who wants AssMan to be the next Indy.
I want a cite. You said people buy imported $750,000 cars to drive around in. I gave you one cite. The most expensive brand new car sold in the United States is a Saleen S7 according to Forbes and that's not even imported its American.
I live in Microsoft country. Even Bill Gates drives a cheapo 200k Ferrari. I never ever ever seen a car in the Seattle area being driven on a semi regular basis that costs more than 200k US.
You made up some numbers its your burden to prove it.
Your post stated interest off of 1 million. And in America you have to pay tax on interest. No savings account is going to give 3.5% interest monthly. If you thinking savings account or a CD, 5% is probably the highest you can go or maybe 6% a year.
Who makes 750k imported car you speak of? And how does that cost 180k in insurance a year? Even the most expensive Ferrari isn't 750k. Also interest on 1 million is only 50,000.00 if based 5% interest. And 50,000.00 a year after deducting taxes isn't going to buy you a EASILY modestly lavish lifestyle in Redmond. Also its hard to tell who is a millionaire in Seattle. I saw Bill Gates once, didn't look like anything different, only reason I paid any attention was because of his Ferrari that was parked out on the street.
They should replace Ford like they replaced him on Sum of All Fears. With Affleck. With Kevin Smith directing it, who wouldn't want to see it.
Parallels with Lucas and Smith are a many. Lucas had coming of age comedies, American Graffiti, Smith had Mallrats, both have shameless merchandising tie ins with their movies, and endless rereleases. They both released crappy prequels, Phantom Menance and Mallrats, prequel to Clerks. Lucas has R2D2 and 3CPO. Smith has Silent Bob and Jay. Lucas has Hair, Smith has Hair,
I think I proved my case. I think we should do an online petition to have the next Indy be made by Kevin Smith.
Macs have never came with Access to my knowledge. Access is the reason I switched to PC in college as the Business school used Access and running Virtual PC back then wasn't as fun as it is now. Access and Outlook or more specifically attaching to exchange servers and joining windows domain is probably what keeps most business users away from Macs.
He is one of those smart people that invented a time machine. He is actually posting from 2001. Hey dude, warn the President about Bin Laden and Sep 11. You still got time.
Damn it, the average score of average American's taking Calculus exams score is mean. We need to do something about it so at least half of those taking the test will score above the median.
Are you saying the elections in Iraq are a sham and that North Korea is more free in a communistic totalitorian starving people regime than in Iraq?
Coz if you do, I agree with you.
I find that ones that are fully versed in both Mac and PC environments tend to be more knowledgable than persons only trained on the Mac or Windows. It's sort of like meeting someone who goes on vacation to a foreign country and refuses to speak another language.
I'm not sure what your problem with the Mac zealot was, he was right, and you agree. One time I had to show a Windows user Computer Engineering Major how to upload stuff to a server using command line shell in Unix.
The morale of the story is to learn different OSes and languages as it betters you as a person. Also I was most impressed with people that run YellowDog on a Powerbook. Since so few people do it, those people who use Linux on a regular basis on a Mac must know something I don't.
People that travel may want this, as Earthlink is a nationwide service. Connect your laptop when you travel. Leave your new PC connected to your home broadband, use it as a server to back up things once in a while.
Not many are in this position, but I imagine some other creative uses for a computer.
In the future, as global warming melts the ice caps, dirt will be rarer than precious metals. Thus the price a brand new computer will cost equivlent to one dirt clod.
If the software bundled included in an OS gets to the point where a user can surf the web, file share and play media files and a decent word processor. Then people will buy an OS for the software.
What about applications like games and tax you may ask? Well, besides the heavy graphics games like Half Life most home users play games like Chess and Scrabble online. Same thing with tax preperation, mapping software, email are all done online. The OSes of the future will be ones that have ActiveX like functionality without the drawbacks. In the beginning no one bought OSes for the software it ran, as software hadn't been invented yet.
It's not a vertical monopoly, as the Feds stopped this practice many years ago. Some say the problem is because there is no monopoly as in the old days, films were released for months at a time, nowadays you are lucky to get two weeks at a first run theater.
Also George Lucas works out of the Studio system. Lucas makes the movies, Fox distributes. In some ways he is just the most successful indpendent movie maker. If Star Wars franchised failed, then he can't make more movies. If a movie by Disney failed, they can make more movies. Also Lucas corporations are not publically traded companies. So it's not big business in the sense Sony or Fox is.
That's why I propose a series of specials rather than movies. I suggest a cartoon based on Jar Jar Binks. I also suggest a Christmas special entitled a A very special Wookie Christmas with musical numbers, a visit from Santa.
Considering there is like 5 Kurosawa movies on the list. I'm not sure what your point is.

Time is owned by AOL Time Warner. Time Warner bought out Turner, Turner in turn was founded by Ted Turner. Ted Turner was once married to Jane Fonda, who worked once with Jack Lemmon in The China Syndrome, who worked with Kevin Bacon in JFK who's movie Woodsman was shown at Canne.
Obviously, there is a left wing conspiracy involving the assassination of JFK, Vietnam, AOL mind control CDS and snooty French people.
No, the creative genius in this case, got the shaft. V for Vendetta is going to get made, but its not going to get made with the input of the creative genius, in this case V for Vendetta. So society is rewarded with a half assed movie not endorsed by the creator.
A good example of IP rights, the way you are thinking is Frank Miller's Sin City, where the original artist, Frank Miller had input toward the final creation of the movie.
Aspergers are gay?
You can abort a fetus for any reason. Most popular reason is the prom dress won't fit right.

You mean more slashvertisements?
