Why do we need low-power cpu's in a home theater system when an hdtv takes 300 watts or more to have on? What's an extra couple of watts in the cpu going to save?
I would be surprised if there were less vulnerabilities reported in Apache than IIS. Linux and Apache are open source, anyone can look at the code and find a hole (if they know what they're doing). But I would bet that those same people would then sit down and write a patch for the hole after they find it. The issue shouldn't be who has the most holes, but who fixes the holes faster. I would think Linux would win.
Exactly... The mall by my house has had something like this for about 2 years... Just an LCD projector and a piece of special glass they hang from the celing.
I think it will help end the more trivial law suits and still let the serious ones work. A main problem is that some companies choose to settle rather than fight because the settlement is cheaper than the cost of retrieving the information off of old unsupported media or computer systems.
Isn't this backwards? Now, correct me if I'm wrong/. but doesn't Cali have higher emission standars than other states? So, shouldn't they be taxing the cars that are less fuel efficient and encourage drivers to buy alternative fuel/hybrids?
First off, I am against charging $20 a month for info. But Google isn't the first to do this. There are websites that will charge you for your credit report, in my state you're allowed to see your credit report free every 6 months. They also charge an extra fee for seeing your credit score. Public court records are also sold on the internet. So, yes, it is bad for google to want to charge for something that is free, but they are definately not the first company to come up with this idea.
We're just speculating on it however. According to TFA the first person that this kind of treatment was tested on died. We don't know what's going to happen when they try this new version in a human, we don't even know how rats respond to it. Maybe it's the miricle cure for cancer, hopefully, maybe not though. And yes, my grandfather died of cancer, one uncle died of cancer, another uncle was successfully treated for cancer, my father has a brain tumor.
At what cost to our bodies? Yes, there are germs in us all the time, having a common cold knocks you down for a few days, a stomache virus, a week, what would cancer and (modified) HIV duking it out do to us? Already some patients opt not to hace chemo and other treatments because of the toll it takes on them. They would rather live a better quality of life for 6 months than be sick from a threatment and live 12 months.
Why is the cost of Windows so high? With as much money as Microsoft makes, why not lower the price to make it more competitive with other operating systems?
I think they're banking on all the Windoze computers that have IE installed with msn as their home page (which seems to happen with every update). Remember,/. users are not a true sampling of internet users. If my mom double-clicks IE and a box shows up that says search, she's more likely to use that than to change to a different page.

On the my MS Office 2003 box it says "Requires Windows 2000, Windows XP or later operating systems"

I talk to the damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills damnit!
Most idiots out there came to associate Internet = IE.
if I had a nickle for everytime someone asked me to upgrade the internet on their computer... I'd be Bill Gates.

Do we really want to turn our bodies into a battlefield for germ warfare?
If they want professional, then just put him in a suit. Of course, then he may be confused for Bill Gates...

I don't know what the problem is, I like hot chi... oh wait, you're talking about chips, nevermind...
No problem, ship over a couple of old Ford LTD's, a few Monte Carlo's, Detroit will have Mars choking on air pollution in no time
That and they use Windows at work/school so they want their home computer to be the same.
If you go to the HST web site, you can see an entire series of images of V838 Mon over the past three years.

Jugding from the pictures, this ring already has the ability to repel women faster than a calculator watch.
What about HyperCard for us Mac old-timers?

Anybody know if the g force involved in this is even tolerable by humans?

I use google as a spell checker all the time, not just a search engine.
So, in one product M$ ripped off Apple, WM (Linux/Unix), and NeXT (Apple again)... that must be a record, even for them.
