Bravo. You managed to prove that your Mac can stay online in a hostile environment for 38 hours. - sorta impressive. I am sure I won't be rushing off and buying them for homeland defense. Changing the time was Bull. Next time your in fear of being proven wrong. Don't take your ball and bat and go home, play through. Now, that heat will be off of the Microsoft OS's. It's all part of the 300 year world domination plan that Microsoft has. Macintosh should have never accepted the 150 Million from Microsoft in 1997. Maybe, now we will give those holier than thou Macintosh fanatics a piece of humble pie with a nice warm cup of shut the hell up. While I must admit Apple does make some nice hardware for running Linux. I love my Linux desktop with an occasional mix of Microsoft office products.
My mug is Stainless steel why bother with ceramic. I can drop it from anywhere. And if I feel ambitious I can beat people with it. It can also break ceramic cups. Yes, I know it a ceramic cup contest but, why bother with ceramic. I thought that undergraduate students at this "University" would be working on more meaningfull experiments. Seems like this experiment belongs in High School. Reminds me of the high school egg drop contest. First place was multiple ceramic cups with a very thick base. Diffrent cups were dropped by each member until they broke. Each member had one drop. I think that is called blind luck. And in a scientific comunity this test can not be reproduced. Second place was a crumple zone thing. Sure works well but, it is not practical and adds at least 50% if not more material. Any forward thinking here? I don't think so.
Yes, a bright future for my kids at the cost of sacrificing one hour a day. Hopefully, when they are out of High school the question will not be if they are continuing school but what school do they want to attend. I will be sending my child to public school. I want the interaction with others. The private schools in my city are not worth the money. My wife stays at home and both of us read to our daughter and work on ABC's and numbers she is "4 1/2". We use flash cards and erasable books and do some computer training. I believe that computers are not good teachers to 4 1/2 year olds when compared to holding an object in their hands.
The other parents in my neighborhood are on their own and it's on them to teach their kids. And if the other parents' children are not up to speed to bad my children will have their jobs. Yes, it is natural but not without some work.

l33t Hax0r shout out to my cr3w Thats all I have to say about that.
Not in a million years. I have worked for many different employers from Government to corporate and it is all the same. They would like you to work your ass of for as little pay as possible. Do not ever sell yourself short. The employers I have worked for are after cash flow or proving budget needs. They are not looking out for your best interest. If you have enough experience and have a proven record you can call the shots not the employers. I have seen so many companies try to make themselves out to be the best employer in the world then you are attached to a pager 24/7 then the top level managers guilt you into thinking you owe them the world. It is about pay because in business it's about money. I might sound cynical but I've gotten burned several times by employers.
Really, just go away Mitnick you got arrested for being a con not a L33t haX0r. Give advise on conning people not technical matters. Have you ever heard a person talk that has no clue what they are saying but still has to make it seem like they are experts. Only good thing mentioned was fuzzing -- "Mmmmmmm fuzzing"
(1+2 = 3) and (1+2 !=2) WTF really. "open source software is easier to analyse for security holes, since you can see the code. Proprietary software, on the other hand, requires either reverse engineering, getting your hands on illicit copies of the source code, or using a technique called 'fuzzing'."
If you have data that can not be compromised use a thin client or store your "data" on a remote share like SAMBA that people need to log into. Or you can have your admin go to each PC let say all 3000 of them and password protect the Bios and disable any USB devices and then listen to all the users whine and cry.
I vote for a remote share or a thin client.
So, that's what was making those bees fly.
!Nails!
And now that we have the nails we will put then in a coffin made for someone named Intelligent design.
Who would name thier child Intelligent Design?
I am so glad that we have the tools and we are not afraid to use them.
I don't think it was the nails that made the Bees fly.
Bees fly and we figured it out. "Yeah!.
I don't think that this is an end to Intelligent design.
I need my missing link not the nail inside the bee.
But,the nagging question is why are we here? And where is that missing monkey/man.
"...I am at a rough estimate, thirty billion times more intelligent than you. Let me give you an example. Think of a number, any number." [said Marvin]
"Er, five" said the mattress.
"Wrong," said Marvin. "You see?"
What if the thing blows up and all life is lost?
Will everyone whine and hold Virgin Atlantic personally responsible.
I am sure people will sign papers stating that they will not sue.
But, dammit if they kill my brother kenny I will need closure.
I got my rights you know and I am sure it's all Bush's fault.
Dam whales knew this would happen. Thats why they avoid space flight.
Shame on you Linus. I thought the plan was to make Linux easier to use.
(The Linux desktop KDE/Gnome etc...) is suppose to make the idiots life easier not harder.
Every idiot should be able to use a linux machine for typical everyday use. Browsing the Internet Viewing movie files etc...
I am for dumbing down the interface as long as you give me a terminal window.
The big diffrence here is "end user" or "Administrator" the administrators have to realize that not all people on this planet know what they know. The end user is ignorant in the ways of Unix.
And why can't we have both, GUI's with easy modes and advanced modes.
I have the problems when Admins need the GUI in Unix or Linux. The admins should know better. I often come accross newer or poorly trained admins that are so clueless they wouldn't know a.conf file if it smacked them in the face. I hate hearing admins say things like - Where's the GUI to setup DHCP? Or even use Webmin to add users.
Even Windows admins that have never heard of "net view", "net use" batch scripting etc..
Admins that don't take the time to learn the OS should be flipping burgers for a living. And end user well you are end users.
You make it seem like McCarthyism is a bad thing.
Forgot to read the "Critique" part
"Though McCarthy's specific charges were unsubstantiated, material unearthed in Russian archives after the fall of the Soviet Union has proven that his general charge (that Communist spies had infiltrated the federal government) was true. The American Communist Party (CPUSA) was in the pay of the Soviet Union. Communist spies included Julius Rosenberg and Theodore Hall, who gave nuclear secrets to the Soviets
" There is more evidence that say Mccarthy was right" Google - "McCarthy was right"
You don't have to have a current space program to be a threat
and and you don't have to participate to be involved in the space race. We must protect ourselves at any cost. It is all about us.
The North Koreans are persuing Nuclear weapons.
The Chinese are just on crack and constantly attacking our Interent and communications or trying to buy our infrastructure.
When I think about satilites and a current space race I think of communications scrambling, imagery, radar, media blocking (ABC,CBS, Al-Jazeera etc...)
During Iraq, we used our satilites to block communications and get current maping of the area. In Iraq we used six National Reconnaissance Office http://www.nro.gov/ satilites of diffrent types:
optical satellites, infrared and ultraviolet satellites radar imaging satellites, combo radar, optical, infrared and ultraviolet satellites, signals intercept and detection satellites, ocean observation satellites.
Think about how bad we would have got our ass kicked if we didn't use our existing satilite cluster like Milstar, Lacrosse, keyhole, Navstar GPS.
We have Air superiority now we need space. It is not always about a laser beam being shot down from the sky. However that would be pretty dam cool.
My point is this. You don't have to have a current space program to be a threat and and you don't have to participate to be involved in the space race. We must protect ourselves at any cost - period.

Find all your relatives and turn them in to Microsoft for reprogramming or maybe community service.
You should install Linux from scatch and only give them Firefox (Java, Flash), Openoffice, Gaim. Becuase Joe/Jane average would not know the difference. The only problem seems to come when the Junior "power user" flex's his knowledge and try's doing something very adminy. Breaks his PC and blames everyone but himself.
Damn, Microsoft damn them to hell.
Ballmer you fat piece of $hit I hate you and all the greed that falls of your sweaty pores. You have no soul and I think you are a good candidate for Hell. I hope google and Yahoo take you down. And Tux comes by and kicks you in the head.
The antichrist is on earth and its name is Microsoft. A Corporation is a person isn't it.
whew -- (I feel better now)
I know deep in my butt that Microsoft is collecting data on users everytime they update.
And if you believe they are not then I got a bridge to sell you. And I really think they wil give us a big (HUGE and dry) surprise in the future. Kind of like the RIAA.
Why would anyone defend or support Microsoft when they can not be trusted. They are so smug and arrogant making statement like we have no plans now of doing this. Thank you so much for not screwing us now.
OK, so this is what you do. Hire some kernel level programmers for you work and have them develop the source as they see fit. Thats the beauty you can do what you want with it.
The current "stable" releases of the kernel are just that "Stable". And I would put them up against any OS out there.
It's is truly a community thing.
I am sure there are improvments that need to be made but hey===" Morton said the process had generally worked well."
The kernel can always be better and testing can be improved. His concerns about the kernel are valid but all he is saying is he is worried thats all.
What regulation? We don't need no regulation.
Can you actually trust a people in a flying car. Oh sure this is what they said about the automobile. But I really think this is different. This has more safety problems and bigger implication if something goes wrong. It seems only wealthy people will be able to afford them. And money has no measure of common sense. Can you imagine Paris Hilton or people like her in their brand new flying car. What about 30 licensed terrorist?
Heres some food for thought it seems that these companies want to sell us a flying car so they can start raking in the money but what if I am a big moron. Maybe we will have moron detectors to prevent these type of people from flying.
I think the typical moronic attitude will be if I pay 60K US I should be able to fly my car however the hell I want. I will do what I want and apologize if I get caught. I would like to fly low and fast over my neighborhood at 3:00 AM. I would like to fly it under Interstate bridges on the California 405. I want to play chicken with my best friends flying car. I want to fly between building in downtown New York. I want to fly into Military restricted fly zones (Area 51). I want to scare the hell out of people on the Interstate. I want to tailgate other people who have flying cars.
Next time I have a bad day I want to wipe out everyone in my block or if anyone cuts me off. I will force them to crash.
Besides all the other fliers don't know how to fly as well as I do.
I'll say sorry when I get caught.
My personal view:
I think that the way we see flying cars being implemented is all wrong. In the movies it seems that all the flying is safe and people can fly around wherever they want to. But in reality this can not be because peoples feeling, attitudes and physical abilities get in the way. I think the only way this will work is if the power to fly around is taken from you and your flying car(s) are programed at time of departure with a destination in which your car is automatically piloted for you. This will insure that traffic patterns are followed. And safety features in case of mechanical failure. (Parachute) -And the car has to have the ability to float for water landings. And some sort of emergency override in case of computer failure. I can imagine a very large wireless type computer network tying this all in. Maybe running Linux.--
In what context are you referring to operating systems in - Networking, Programing, Desktops applications. What? Surely you can be as bold as to say that Windows is better at all aspects of computing and if you are. You are one simple minded bastard like a previous post said.
You ask for proof that you need a benchmark telling you that Linux is better in every measure. Of course not one OS will ever do that so what your asking for is impossible. And how do you define every measure? Does that include kernel level access and source access. You are coming out very biased so what good would a benchmark do you proofing Linux is better.
Need to use it to see the truth.
Linux is not perfect. Some of the desktop Applications need improving. The question is how do you dumb down applications so the everyday users can use them. Thats sorta like dumbing down an F16 so Susie rotten crotch can fly it.
Heres a good article about the Samba vs 2003.

I guess they didn't want Solaris 10's Linux compatability and new features. Like Zones, and the ability to run linux nativley. I think duke jumped the gun a bit. Or maybe they just want to get thier own distro started.
But, then again Sun support has gone down hill since they shipped it to India. Nothing more anoying than someone walking you through some procedures while you already know what the problem is, but you just need a Tech to get his butt onsite and give up some parts. It used to be you call they listen they respond, none of this AOL style checklist they have now. What is really cool is (when your not in a hurry)breakout the redneck speak and as much slang as possible with the India support.
