I find it sad that Americans continue to put up with this crap. Every week it is someone new and people are in the news and on the net saying how wrong it is.
However what are you doing about it? You talk about your rights and freedoms however when was the last time you did something about it?
Oh I am suing the other party... blah blah blah. Odd if someone touched my child, I think suing them would be last on the list.
Who is jammmma ??
Sony has made X amount of money so far, how about you ? Do you have an income to complete with them ? I think before we lash out at them we should see where it goes.
Also... the Xbox360 is still cheaper but from my understanding the PS3 will still allow online play with out addition cost. Where M$ is charging you what ? $12 a month I heard ( I do not use xbox live ) - at $10 a month you are pay M$ $120 a year, so over two years you have paid an extra $240. Add that on to the Xbox360 price...
Oh... new headline, M$ is doommmed, self distructing. Who will ever commit to that...
How is this "news for nerd" ?????

Hey,
I read through the install doc, you have to manually setup fstab plus a few other things. I do not see why anyone would pick this distro. Using kickstart or custom tag files (Slackware) we can easily have a minimal install done.
I would like to see how this distro compares to NetBSD....

It is nice to see that Microsoft is not trying to create anything new, they are now just going to copy everything that Linux has to offer, in order to try and survive.
I like how MSH is not confusing with the mixture of bash like, perl like and special magical windows like syntax.

Two weeks to install a Linux distro... even compiling every thing like Gentoo would be quicker. A real Linux Admin or power user could have a distro up and running in about 30 minutes or less. Then maybe 5-30 for patching depending on your bandwidth.
I like how people blame the OS because they do not know what they are doing... any OS will be unreliable when people who have NO clue what they are doing are administing it.

I am huge fan of Linux, I dislike Windows and would prefer not to use it. But I hate Microsoft as a corperation.

How about Viable in that I do not need 6GB to install Slackware !! RH
How about Viable in the sense that simplicty and consistency should play a major role in server roll outs and upgrades. RH,Gentoo
I guess if you like spending about a week to build your Gentoo server or a few days trying to figure out why "this just will not work in RH" or "how the hell is RH modified this" then it would not be viable for you.
There is a reason slackware is still one of the largest distro's around with the console install.

Really... what about the LVS scheduler that tracks TCP connections between LVS servers so if one goes down the other server that becomes master will NOT reset the TCP connection ??
Michael
I would have to disagree with you here on a number of points.
I am not sure what distro of Linux you where using and why you had all the down time ?
Upgrading the kernel should only require a reboot ? So the down time is how long it takes your server to boot up.
Did you ever look into the lock up issue ? Could it be bad hardware or driver hardware mismatch ?
The only time I have ever locked up a Linux server was when I was using hardware that was not supported or I was using hardware with incorrect modules.

Obviously this asshole either has no clue what he is talking about using terms like "Intellectual Property Protection" or he is trying to confuse people in believing he is trying to help.
This type of "protection" will only ensure that the game cost go up and the quality go down.
