Keep in mind it's not that good in most places yet.
in reference to open source.
Context:
T: Is open source going to be disruptive to Oracle?
LE: No. If an open source product gets good enough, we'll simply take it. Take [the web server software] Apache: once Apache got better than our own web server, we threw it away and took Apache. So the great thing about open source is nobody owns it - a company like Oracle is free to take it for nothing, include it in our products and charge for support, and that's what we'll do. So it is not disruptive at all - you have to find places to add value. Once open source gets good enough, competing with it would be insane. Keep in mind it's not that good in most places yet. We're a big supporter of Linux. At some point we may embed Linux in all of our products and provide support.

Its not about not liking them. He was simply trying to inform the manager that he was unable to apply and looking for an alternative method... And I am feeding trolls. *slaps hand* bad Charles!
I would be more then happy to assist you. E-mail me offline (charles@thewybles.com) and we can work together. I want to apologize on behalf of the Linux and Ubuntu communities for there childish behavior.
I don't think anyone is watching me. I am not paranoid. In fact I have blogged about that. All of the "monitoring/survellience" that goes on that people get all upset over. Who cares. The govt doesn't care about you. They care about people who are actually breaking the law or who they have a reasonable suspicion of breaking the law.

I know that was meant to be funny but its also flat out wrong. There are major corporations (mine included) running mission critical apps on mysql. Our database is over a terabyte and grows about 1 gigabyte a week. It is in use 24x7 and supports multiple call centers and teams.
So every appartment had X10? Wow. That's cool. You know I messed with that myself. I was playing with X10 and it kept acting weird. I narrowed it down to coming from my neighbors. So I messed with them a little. The problem then went away:)
I really really can't understand why so many people seem to have hardware support issues. I have done hundreds of Linux installs with all types of distros (RedHat/Slack/Debian) on all types of hardware (Dell servers/Whiteboxes/HP/Gateway) and NEVER had hardware support issues. X worked fine. Sound worked. Now granted some systems are a bit hard to get working but the majority of users don't have them.

Hehe. I love it.
You must be using EMC :)
Its not about anti virus software. Its about a tax bill. Just didn't seem like Mac related news.
Why was this posted on Macworld? Talk about off topic...

Um wow. I don't think I live in a police state. I am not challenging your right and obligation to free expression. I was making a joke .
I agree. Right on the money. He is in it for the money.
Yes. But do they run Linux? Can you imagine a beowulf cluster of them. *shudders*
may i remind you of....
dum de dum dum dum....

Hmmm. Sounds like open source.
I fully agree with this. Excellent points all around. Being debian based would be very interesting.

Cheap high availability :)
Uh whats your source for this?
Yep it was. I was there. Had a booth and spoke.
What? Does your g/f say Linux is to fat?
Wow. I think the only person that can't handle criticism here is you. You have been proven wrong time and time again and you dig yourself deeper.

Oh that was a real intelligent response.
