It's a sad day when you hear tech news on National Public Radio before you hear it on/. I mean, NPR even has a podcast now. Does/.? No. Probably because the editors really ARE monkeys, and cannot speak properly.
Although I don't charge for malware removal (on my family's machines), I know a kid not much older than myself (I'm 15, I thin he's 17) that runs a business centered around this sort of thing....He is apparently doing very well...
p.s. I must say I have to agree. I love malware as well, but for a different reason...every infection brings my family members that much closer to letting me switch them over to Linux...
This man obviously hasn't met my sister:
She attempts to open music files by selecting them in groups of 100, resulting in 100 sessions of xmms...I can only imagine her with root access.
Quite frankly, as a high school student myself, I am not too surprised. Most of the kids in my school actually think that Saddam Hussein (hope I spelled that right) wanted to attack the U.S. and had WMD's to use on us. Obviously this was not the case, but when I try to point this out they tell me how much of an idiot I am and how I must be wrong. If they'll believe things like this, no wonder they have no problem with censorship
In response to a poster who said something along the lines of how certain things (his/her example was a witness protection program list) should not be published, I absolutely agree. But this question in regards to government censorship was much more simple than that. It had more to do with the government censoring things that it didn't want published for its own selfish means, not for the protection of people.
As a high school freshman, college seems far away, but I am always worrying about it. Let me just cite a few of my concerns and see if any of you have anything to say on the matter:
First off, several people have made comments about how structured education is a bad thing and there's nothing in it you couldn't learn from a book. As much as I'd like to agree with these people at times, it seems to me that this is not entirely true. Although I do not enjoy high school, it has taught me some things that I actually have an interest in but would usually not be capable of starting on my own. C++ for instance. However, I feel that the structure of my school detracts from the learning experience. I get 4 hours of homework a night, with projects as well, and have very little interest in any of this work. I get home at 5:00, so it is 9:00 when I am done (on a good night), which leaves me 3 hours per night to pursue my interests (I do the projects all weekend), depending on how long I can hold out (and how much coffee I have). This has left me devoid of all energy, and seems to be bringing my grades down as well. This leads to a lack of faith in myself and a feeling of emptiness, as if the whole world is better and more capable of acomplishing things than I am. I am left feeling that I have learned nothing.
If any of you have had an experience like this, than I am not sure how you can be so energetic while naming the "merits" of public school. Maybe this is just a high school thing, but I have only 3 teachers out of 9 who don't avoid me or give curt, unhelpful answers whe n I ask questions.
Perhaps this is not true of many of the teachers at many Colleges, but it has left my self confidence and will to learn decimated.
my mom's stupid windoze computer suddenly stopped being able to log in. Hmmm....uninstall IE, install firefox, and windows dies. Hmm...how could this be?!? Oh, right, I forgot, Microsoft XP only plays nice with windoze apps. Oopsies;-D
I found out a few minutes ago that apparently the site offering the $1000 bounty for loading up linux on the DS didn't just go down, it was apparently attcked, which would obviously have brought it down.
however, there is a sourceforge project http://sourceforge.net/projects/nitro/ to bring the DS online using techniques that are apparently better than tunneling. The project will be written in C and is in the pre-alpha stages.
Yes. But is this mouse FEARLESS?
SAP our power!
First post! ....oh...wait.
No commitment to floss? Oh dear...that's not good, that's not good at all. Those poor poor people.
Porn on the iPod? That's nothing! I've got porn on my TI-92+ :)

This appears to have no effect on Gentoo's 1.0.7-r2 (64bit) or the 1.0.7 binary (32bit).

Thanks to some sort of bizarre copyright dispute over the mp3 music format, theatre is one thing RHEL DOESN't have.
Tesla had patents for wireless power 100+ years ago. Why is this considered "new"?
Yes, that's right folks: Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie time!!!
