It is by far the easiest distro I have ever used... over and above Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse or Mandrake. It almost auto configured everything, and I have a hard time thinking about using anything else... it's just too dead simple.
Not trying to get in the whole debate, but I am tired of people acting like there is no such thing as a Christian who happens to believe in the fundamentals of the Bible and who also happens to be a scienties. They are not mutually exclusive.
Who cares... if nobody continues reporting on the continued envasion of privacy, and if people keep screaming dupe... we might as well lay down and give it all up now.
Mod parent down. I am tired of people screaming dupe. The fact that it happened in Missouri does not mean the fact that it is happening in Maryland makes it a dupe... if nobody continues reporting on the continued envasion of privacy, and if people keep screaming dupe... we might as well lay down and give it all up now.
And funny stinking comments like this is part of the reason why I read slashdot. I laughed for nearly a minute straight.
Imagine back 100 years ago... a root kit??? What the heck is that?
I have often thought, if SCO ever made Linux disappear in it's current form, I would move to FreeBSD... however, even now all I ever see are screenshots of KDE/Gnome running on FreeBSD... which of course I assume works and looks exactly like it's Linux cousin...
As far as under the hood, all I ever hear about is FreeBSD having binary compatibility with Linux, and less drivers than Linux? Where's the pull? Can anyone give me some compelling reason to switch?
I am not trying to troll, but seriously need a reason in order to try it out.
I like Google but what disturbs me is their almost complete reliance on Windows as a desktop platform of choice... (minus their web programs, gmail, blogger etc)
I use Skype because I can use it on either Windows, Linux, or Mac... if Google rolls out an IM app, with only Windows support... I will be -very- reluctant to use it.
I am surprised at how many people complain about "dupes." First of all I rarely read the front page of Slashdot, or the sub-sections... What I do read is the RSS feed. And I rarely see -any- duplicate posts by the editors there.
I am thinking there is either a reason for the duplicate posts (to get them on rss?), or that they are a minor (but frequent?) oversight.
Who cares? It's free, unless you are subscribing... and if you are, then email someone who does care, and quit complaining on a public forum.
After reading that story and seeing some quotes, such as:
1) On Friday, broadcasters vowed to take their fight to Congress and push for broadcast-flag legislation that "preserves the uniquely American system of free, local television," said Edward Fritts, president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters.
2) "Without a broadcast flag, consumers may lose access to the very best programming offered on local television," Fritts said. "This remedy is designed to protect against unauthorized, indiscriminate redistribution of programming over the internet."
makes me think... What on earth is this Fritts talking about?
Free local television is not uniquely American first of all... and secondly, in American and Canada... how many people out of the whole are actually only getting "rabbit ear" television where cable is offered also?
Windows to Linux voice chat... that's what got me. I pleaded with gaim, asked yahoo, and even inquired why jabber didn't support it...
Open standards or not... Skype works... even with dial-up. I use it, and I love it. Mostly... high latentcy connections sometimes have a hard time with it. My computer sits behind an 802.11b router, bridged to another building wirelessly and then from that building to 2.4ghz tower (3 wireless links).
I'm not sure if this is also a similar problem, but when I talk to my Father who sits behind a satellite broadband link it seems to have troubles too.
Still fairly good though. And the rates are unbeatable. I use it to call Venezuela, Canada, America, and my friends are calling Germany all of the time.
Does anyone consider Mandrake main stream anymore? I thought it was cool and considered going back since I don't really want to reinstall Fedora ever 6 months... seeing how each new Fedora version takes a month to install and get used to...
Rather than argue what seems to be a, "it is true because I say it is so argument," I will post to an article I read in a magazine recently that I liked. http://www.epm.org/articles/evolution.html
It is nearly beyond my comprehension that someone who trusts in evolution, can then say that the "entire" field of biology is in agreement with this "theory." Especially macroevolution. To say that we, as human beings, were not created as such... that we evolved from some lower life form is ridiculous.
BTW, I admit my spelling error with "laughing stock" as it is one word.
If you are okay with Debian unstable, use Kanotix http://kanotix.com/index.php?&newlang=eng

I've been using Linux for years... and I have no idea what to do with this diff... I guess that makes me a linux noob...
Seriously, I have used Redhat since 8, and have eventually found my way to a hard drive install of debian sid, Kanotix.
Easy and simple to use... and I loathe trying to figure out how to patch with a diff file.

This is a bad idea, wifi cards will start coming out that are only windows compatible. :-(
download the gimpshop.
I love Skypke. I wish everyone used Skypke.
People won't have too much trouble with this virus as long as they are not running as root.
Someday they will measure in MPH
3 D+%3F+mph&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client =firefox&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:unofficial
330 (feet per minute) = 3.75 mph

I think this guy is talking nonsense.

http://www.digipen.edu/ - I remember getting info back in the days about this school Digipen that would teach me how to program Nintendo games...
The first? This EA Gamedev program? I doubt it.
Seems they have Canada too. Maybe your respective country should submit map data to the parent company of this map software... hmmm...
I wonder if WIMAX if ever ubiquitous will increase this nice sounding trend? Hopefully open hot spots will only increase.

Looks odd...
I hope you drop your American citizenship on your way out... PEACE!
...but as much evidence as supports the rest of fundamental Christian beliefs supports a non-literal interpretation.
Can you explain this? I don't understand what you are getting at...
