    They aren't. That's why it's common sense for them to default to the most secure settings, leaving you to change them to suit your needs if necessary.

    You imagine wrong. For one thing, dedicating part of the Firefox team to making a native OS X port would take resources away from Firefox. They are two different projects with different goals. Firefox is a multi-platform web browser. Camino is an OS X native web browser. In my case, I use Camino because it is far less likely than Firefox to crash my ancient 400 Mhz G4.

    Maybe all they need to do is call "unstable" something other than "unstable". Call Woody something like "stable server" and call the most stable "unstable" release "stable desktop". Better yet, let some company make a spinoff using those terminologies, and keep the Debian people working on Debian instead of terminology.

    I think you misunderstood. A Mac without the Mac OS isn't a Mac - it's a PowerPC. The post did NOT say a Mac without Mac OS was equivalent to an intel box. Of course there are differences in hardware. But hardware != OS.

    I forget which version of GNOME came with RedHat 9.0, but I rememer it being easier to edit the content of menus. I also remember being able to use sawtooth instead of Nautilus and liking it a LOT more. There seem to be fewer customization options now.

    The article is talking about areas where there is already coverage, that's why the ISPs are complaining. Not exactly. The article is talking about A) areas where there currently is no coverage and B) areas where there is coverage but most of the people living there can't afford what's offered.

    What I'd like to know is why governments in the US persist in passing laws they must surely know will not survive a Constitutional challenge? So they can go to their consituents and say they tried to pass important laws only to have them blocked by those damn liberal activist judges, so you have to reelect me so I can work to get rid of those judges and pass more important laws.

    - The big bang is a theory, NOT fact.
    Actually it's both.
    - Even if we assumed that the Big Bang theory is true, we don't know how big the universe is, so there would be no way to calculate a point of 'bang.' Non sequitor. We don't need to know how big the universe is to get the 80% figure, just how old it is, which we do know to reasonable degree of accuracy. We can measure how far away these galaxies are, which tells us how old they are, which we can compare to the known age of the universe.

    What do you mean "finally"? They've been observing quasars and other stuff from the early universe - farther back than the galaxies in this article - for decades.

    I have a device that sort of does what you want, the Dunlop DC Brick Power Supply, but it's designed for effects pedals, not computer equipment, and it only offers two voltages, 9V and 18V.
