I want one right now! That thing looks awesome, and dangerous =)
The self cooling beer can seems just plain wasteful. I'd rather they filled the space that the cooling mech uses with more beer. And I don't get the urinal thing at all, probably be quite fun after a few cans of nice cool beer though.
Sometimes I find this AJAX movement annoying. Not because of the new technologies emerging, and not because of the amount of people wanting to learn it. I find it more annoying because of the whole dumbing down initiative.
Work a little harder, learn a little more and create something a lot more intuitive.
It's easy to spoof email addresses with a very simple PHP script.
I decided one day to trick one of my collegues. I sent him an email 'from' one of our very attractive collegues (in a fairly distant department so I thought it safe at the time) complimenting him on his physique and machismo. I used her real email address as the 'spoof' address, which being the dumbass he is, he replied to. In a manner that would not be considered acceptable in a work enviroment lets say...
Well, I got in trouble for this. (Everyone where I work already knew I was the only one capable of something like this... [lame] So that same afternoon I was called into my bosses office. He was quite frank, and also remember that I value my job here, he said "That email... You had something to do with it didn't you?"
I said that I was the cause of that little incident by way of one of my scripts. I said I was sorry it went as far as it did, and my boss accepted that.
After that my boss said, "Do you have any other things you wish to report?" I decided that I'd come clean with everything I'd found out about the work network. I told them that using the citrux system, I could remotely control anyone on the networks PC. I told them I could spoof emails from anyone... Which resulted in my company rejecting email authorisation for crediting invoices full stop.
OK, through a prank I caused my company a bit of upset... But I, in turn, improved systems indirectly. And all this because I exposed one weakness, and upon my bosses asking me about it - I told all. As I'm sure any loyal employee would do. Through exposing a weakness in my company, I concentrated effort on plugging those holes.
When I was learning programming from the age of 12, I was 'developing' Windows apps, for various purposes. After PHP / MySQL had been about for a while, I picked those up. I dropped any windows development I did - just because it didn't interest me anymore with this exciting thing going on. I would and have suggested to a lot of newcomers to coding that they look into PHP, and a lot of them did with some success.
You can do some incredible stuff with PHP/MySQL if you put your mind to it. One of my favorite projects (it wasn't the definitive or only one!) was a windows app that hooked keypresses. Every so often it would upload the number of keypresses to some PHP / MySQL code and update your user profile.
The application potential is impressive, and not fully exploited the way I look at it.
Apparently, the US has been calling members of the EU to 'ensure that the data collected [...] be accessible to them'."
How can the USA possibly claim to be a part of the European Union? United Nations, sure. But I, as a European, always thought that the EU was restricted to you know... European nations.
That said - Blair, being the poodle he is bends over for Bush it seems. Blair was probably all for this policy just because his mate George said it would be 'Really, really good.'
Am I allowed to accept defeat on slashdot? Because that's what I'd like to do.
The posts after mine have given me a different perspective. I'm still for what I said originally, but you do gain a bit of perspective on a site like this.
I got proved wrong, but gained some insight. Thats enough for me.
I think that it should be basic high school education to learn to build a PC. Heck, the course would probably only take a week and would be useful for some time.
I taught myself to build computers, and I look upon it like a jigsaw puzzle for 5+ year olds. It's very hard to do something wrong. And there's only one piece (usually) for one hole. (Save for the tough processor clips)
Granted building your own box still takes more time than just taking one out of the store, but it's only like an afternoon if you're even only moderately experienced. For that afternoon of light work you can save yourself a couple of hundred bucks at least.
I've made probably a couple of grand building machines for people over the past few years. Cost to me: Nothing but a few hours.
People should get smart and start building their own machines, it's far more rewarding. Apologies if this is offtopic or trolling, but it's something I believe should be more commonplace than it is.
Thank goodness the UK isn't planning anything like that. I'd feel uneasy even making short personal, and innocent crime-free calls if they were logging every number I ever spoke to.
I was always taught by my geography teacher that there as so many variables concerned, and all fairly random - that even a reasonably accurate prediction of climate changes over any length of time would be only ever be wildly inaccurate.
But still, if this helps my local weatherman to tell me it's going to be sunny on laundry day, and it actually is sunny then I'm all for it...
In the UK there are heavy taxes on ethanol too. It's a shame, because those duties are pretty much restricting alternative fuel uses.
For example: It's pretty much cheaper to use a diesel engine than to use biodiesel that you make yourself. (if you're a 'good' citizen and pay all taxes due)
I can fit anything on my flash cards. They're so small I just pile it all on top of them. Once I put a cup of coffee on my flash card, technology is awesome.
I tried one of those coffees a few weeks back. It wasn't nice at all, I can't imagine when I would need a hot coffee so bad that I would drink one again.
I don't care what they settle on. If I can get 180mbps from one part of my house to the other, without pesky wires - I want it sooner rather than later.

Google Analytics seems to be excellent. All sorts of statistics are available. I use it, and I can't really grumble about anything.
Apparently the fumes given off by photocopiers are Ozone. I'm doing my bit for the enviroment by copying documents at work unnessecarily.
My boss says it's a waste of time and money though. He doesn't give a shit about the enviroment I guess.
I can't see any other details about specifications... even the basics.
Still, for £55 I guess anything would be acceptable. I want a laptop, and for that money it's almost disposable I guess.

This story is true...

How would they even know if they were correct? Sure DaVinci was a bright man, but even basic recording was hundreds of years after him.

1) I know a LOT of morons 2) At least where I live, it's still cheaper. The only gotcha is the monitor.

Hooray! More software to patch!

Reeks of inhibiting progress to me.
A name is the most important part of any product... If you're the producer.
Glad to see Intel have got their names all worked out, now about the other issues?
The Blue Security gang apparently never give out email addresses, just md5'd strings of the email addresses to be excluded.
Even if the servers were temporarily downed, the publicity generated from this incident surely got quite a few new members.
Heck, I even signed up; shall have to wait and see if it's worth it though.
I can fit anything on my flash cards. They're so small I just pile it all on top of them.

Sorry what was that? The signals patchy, with some sunny spells towards the afternoon...

What would happen if local laws contradict the UNs proposals, even if they did pass?
