Oh cool, so now I can do from within Windows what I have been booting up a Knoppix livecd and doing for years with this tool. Brilliant. And they said Microsoft wasn't innovative.
May I suggest walking them through turning on Remote Desktop. Might save you (and them) some frustration. Or maybe try this if setting up Terminal Services is too much trouble. Works for me.
Win2K is by leaps and bounds the best thing to ever come out of Redmond, IMO. I use it exclusively in my Windows virtual machines. Only problem is, I can't figure out how to get Terminal Services server loaded on it and I don't have a license for Win2K Server only the Professional version, so I have to VNC into my linux box and just bring the virtual machine window up to use it when I'm away from the house. Obviously not the ideal solution.

The link you provided is a Google search for lithium batteries. Not lithium-ion batteries like the ones generally used in laptops, cell-phones, etc.
There are several important differences. The practical difference between Lithium batteries and Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries is that most Lithium batteries are not rechargeable but Li-ion batteries are rechargeable. From a chemical standpoint Lithium batteries use lithium in its pure metallic form. Li-ion batteries use lithium compounds which are much more stable than the elemental lithium used in lithium batteries. A lithium battery should never be recharged while lithium-ion batteries are designed to be recharged hundreds of times.
Lithium ion batteries are not available in standard cells sizes (AA, C and D) like lithium batteries are.
If you're going to come off of the 999 bucks for this, then, unlike the other "millions of Americans" who won't, you stand a better than average chance of being the type of person that's going to do something with the information. It's self selecting.
I guess that depends on your definition of "med-high end". I bought this laptop with a core 2 duo processor and 2 gigs of RAM a couple of weeks ago. It came with Vista Home Premium. The performance has been positively abysmal. Of course I turned aero off, shut the sidebar down, disabled unnecessary services and uninstalled all of the crap-ware. It was still terrible with laggy menus, pegging the processor at 100 percent for no apparent reason, programs taking forever to load, general buggyness, etc. Note the word "was" in that last sentence. I finally had time to get the drivers for the SATA controller last night and slip-stream them onto my XP install disk.
You guys' 3G must be blazing. Here in Washington D.C. where I'm typing this right now over Verizon's 3G network, my ping is a consistent 70 ms and my bandwidth is 1.2 Mbps. And my own "seat of the pants" estimate tells me that's about what it feels like. What is it over there?
I couldn't agree more with what you have typed. I gave Vista a very fair shot. I ran it for a week on a core duo laptop with 2 gigs of ram and a 7600Go video card. Not shabby hardware by any means. And it quite honestly could only be described as a complete dog. Not only slow but buggy as hell. I'd close the lid and when I opened it, the screen would flicker and when I finally got my desktop back after a few seconds, the icons would be out of place like I changed the resolution and changed it back or something. I mean, wtf? I get the whole thing about immature video drivers and all that but, really, this wasn't marketed as beta software. The CPU cores would both idle and I mean idle, on about 35 percent usage. Huh? In XP is was about 2-3 percent. And that matters because I take my laptop everywhere I go and use the battery. The taskbar would flicker inexplicably. I could go on and on. I dumped that sucker and moved back to something that actually works and stays out of my way.
Maybe I'll give it another shot when the service pack comes out.
I'm from Florida too and have bought several cars here. If the taxman thinks your car is worth anything, be expecting a letter in the mail come tax season asking for the taxes on the difference between the blue book value and what you said you paid or a really good explanation of why your car was worth so much less than what the said blue book would suggest.
Depends on the state. Tennessee, for example, makes you pay the tax on the blue book value. And for the inevitable fool that wants to dispute this, it happened to my brother and I was standing right there.
Yeah,I'm familiar with all of that, but keep in mind that all of those animals evolved on the same planet from a common ancestor however many millions of years removed it may be and whose DNA are based on the same 4 nucleotides. Also, don't forget all of the other organisms that share their environment that look nothing like they do.
Point being, there may be independently evolved beings that look like we do, but for every species that does, how many others look completely different? Now, what are the odds that one of the species that do look like we do crash landed in NM?
I couldn't agree more. With the huge amounts of biodiversity living within the same ecosystems here on earth, what are the chances of completely different life forms from a completely different biogenesis from some other planet looking essentially like miniature versions of ourselves. And even if there is an extra-terrestrial species that does look like us, what are the chances of them crashing their ship in the middle of New Mexico?
The innumeracy and gullibility of people is astounding.
As an extensive traveler, avid book consumer and owner of a Sony eReader, I can honestly tell you that it's not going to replace dead tree books any time soon. It was fun at first but, now I hardly ever pick it up. And that's not just from lack of content, I know how to use utorrent. It's just a poor substitute for the real thing. One glaring flaw is I can't flip through the pages, scanning for what I'm looking for in a reference book. That's a real deal killer right there. I also like a bisected form factor in my reading material. I don't want to feel like I'm reading some sort of scroll.
To sum it up, books, not to mention magazines won't be going anywhere anytime soon if this thing is any indication.
I know the GP may have been a tad subtle with it but maybe you should consider ticking the old sarcasm detector up a notch. And how did this end up as a plus 5 insightful?
Actually, there's a fairly simple answer to this question. You see, both parties are corrupt and any "position" the mouthpiece of the day stumps is always to be taken with a shaker of salt.
So, you can't really seriously argue based on a politician's "positions", as that just makes you sound silly and naive. It really comes down to, does the party this person represents have a legacy of screwing my particular social class more or less than the other guys. Whoever screws you least probably should get your vote and an enthusiastic defense when the fanboy style debates amongst your peers ensue. This is just my observation and, of course, isn't exhaustive in every situation. YMMV
I'm not going to argue your opinion as you are free to have it as I am free to have mine. However, I would like to point out that the physical differences between men and women is much more pronounced than the differences between black and white men. White men can compete successfully at the top of any sport right alongside the best black athletes. I direct your attention to the little publicized fact that right now, all three recognized major heavyweight boxing belts are held by white men. Also, there are very strong white athletes in basketball, e.g. Steve Nash, Larry Bird, and the plethora of eastern european players that come over here to play. And that's just a couple of sports. Incidentally the two main ones that are known particularly for their black dominated natures. So, in short, to compare the differences between whites and blacks and men and women and see some kind of congruity is a bit disingenious. I apologize for the spelling and the poor grammar. My mind's a bit split right now. And you're right, no bench press titles for me.
The world bench press record for super heavy weight women is 551.2 pounds. For men it's 1010 pounds. The 20th score down on the list for men is 800 pounds. There are literally thousands of men in the world that would laugh at 551 pounds. The chances of a woman ever winning the overall bench press record are zero. To have women compete on the same level as men in powerlifting would forever doom women to not even second class place but it would basically kill women's powerlifting. It would be so sad, it wouldn't even be funny. Why would you want to see that happen. Basically, people would be saying, yeah, she might not ever place anything but last in a tournament but at least she's the strongest woman in the world. Hey, I know, why don't we have an all women's league. Then we are right back to where we are now. Better not to go through the trouble.
The only problem with that is that pound for pound, men are considerably stronger than women on average. Your hypothetical 250 pound woman would get clobbered in practically any sport she entered where physical strength was an important advantage.
I don't know, say what you want but Maximum PC has some great articles this month on how to stick it to the man on some of the DRM crap. Including an article on exactly how to unencumber iTunes tracks. Pretty good shit for the unintiated if you ask me.

This post was shamelessly ripped from here.
The (Confirm/Deny) part got me rolling. Classic.

The rest as they say is history.

Argh... the only thing paneful was reading that. :)
If I remember correctly, one of the early Wizardry games was like that. I believe it was the second one. Fond memories.
I never show my receipt. There is nothing they can do. Or, at least if they can, they've never tried to do anything to me.

I'm thinking it's intended to, uh, stop missiles. Don't be a tool.

I buy consumer grade PC's with chips Intel no longer wants to build all day at the pawn shop down the street.
