I think it's too late for Tivo. They should have done this a couple years ago. Now everyone has their own PVR. I have had a "DVR" from DishNetwork for almost 2 years. With DirecTV and Comcast setting their own box out... that's the final 2 nails in the coffin...
What about Xbox? Doesn't it do everything already? Games, video, music, web/news/RSS/weather? And, isn't Miocrosoft touting it as the living room entertainment center? All about the $$$
If you have no desire to change from your Powerbook, why program at all? Would it not be best to compile ASM for x86 other than on, an x86 platform? Maybe I don't understand?
I have used alcohol forever. I used to work at Kinko's and it worked on the copy machines (glorified laserprinters). Well, if it jams now, use alcohol and see if it works (it will). If it doesn't, it didn't work before and you'll still need to get a maintenance kit.
I use rubbing alcohol, brings back the tackyness of the rollers. If that doesn't work, I would buy a maintainence kit; for work we get ours from http://www.printertechs.com/ They have great instructions w/pictures. Good luck.
It's also about maintainence. If rollers get dusty / toner-ized, you'll get constant jams. I have a LaserJet 4+ I bought new in '94. Like you said, still going strong. Haven't replaced rollers on it, and i am not in front of it, but, probably a good 75k prints on it maybe? I only use it with a Windowz box and have it networked through a print server router.
EULAs - who reads them anymore? I started reading through more, and it's amazing on what they say. Item IIV - you must give us all your money. Item IV - all your money belong to us. It seems crazier with the online games more than anything.
You should ask them to repeat the informtaion. Give them some hassling, ask them a bunch of questions... act like you are interested (if you have time and aren't already frustrated). Ask them if they know what fungus is on your feet. Keep them on the phone, then just hang up.
You get a quick laugh...
I don't have telemarketers calling (yet). I have had Vonage for 6 months and haven't really given out my number.
Actually, MPEG1 is compressable. Although poorer in quality, you can still squeeze out decent video. Using the KVCD plugin for TMPGEnc, you can squeeze 360 mins of 320x240 video on a 700 MB / 80 min CD (which is abot 500k per minute of video, also is VCD campatable to play in VCD/DVD players). www.kvcd.net
Why waste time, money (unlimited amount) and effort in targeting this issue? To me, this will only cause more grief to everyone else except 'pirates'. Worry about making the OS reliable first. Hell, I still don't understand how they are going to sell subscriptions for a Spyware remover?! 1. Buy our product, it's shitty. 2. Because our product is shitty, buy this other software to fix it. 3. Because it's real shitty, and people don't want to buy it, we are going to make your computer more shitty by allowing other machines to go unpatched... it's a twisted cycle.

In the middle of your call... "Goodbye"

I wonder if he'll make an attempt to buy Apple, and say it's his idea... It's like Coke employees drinking Pepsi.
I think eBay would be a great place, I wouldn't throw them away. They would be a great decorating someone's computer den.

Sounds like a porn site... =) I would think MPEG1 would be decent quality at a reasonable size.
What about Digital Audio upgrades? I want this to be a true media center; i keep leaning towards this little guy...

Where does 581 Million dollars go, just to be tossed out? That money could have been used elsewhere for some good. -Dennis-
It'll still crash, just faster. how about having M$ catchup on the 2005 technology brfore jumping ahead?
