Why is it okay for Microsoft to find ways around things? Just because they are big and bad doesn't mean whatever they say, goes. PS, this is not Flamebait.
I don't see why it's a big deal the MIT is contributing to the needs of Brazil. MIT is highly respected and not taken lightly. Good for them for helping out.
I think the better sounding name is HD-DVD. Consumers are familiar with HD = High Definition, and DVD, obviously. Blu Ray doesn't have a consumer friendly ring to it. Consumers would buy HD-DVD over BluRay for sure.
Well, I used to be in love with what's her name who played Wonder Woman when I was like 5. Something tells me they shouldn't go this route, they are stretching for movies, and this will be a money and time waster...
See, that's the problem. It's just like Microsoft to say "We'll wait til later ( point release, such as CSS2.1 or CSS3) before throwing our complete support behind it" I don't understand! You have to plan for the future, no plan after the fact!
Man, trying to get into bank records? You know everything is logged somehow. It scares me to think about 2 things... 1, life in prison, and, 2, with that much money, it draws suspicion, so, you really can't spend it.
How about trusted users? The computers aren't the problem, it's the users. It takes a confident voice to say, I'm person X and I am working on the mainframe, I need your username and password. Big words like mainframe scare people. People can't be trusted.
I don't believe this for a second. A survey of 6000 people does not represent the millions of gamers in North America. Also... the main bias of this survey is that Macrovision is trying to peddle their copy protection services to MS and Sony.
What's terrib;e about not having true folders, is that when I use a mail client like Mozilla Thunderbird, all messages come into the inbox. So, if I labeled one on the web at work "project", when I get home, it'll be a new mail message in the inbox. I agree, we need folders.

Blame the alcohol company because a minor was intoxicated. Blame the gun manufacturer. Blame the TV and movie studios for making violent shows. Remember when Judas Priest was on trial for "subliminal messages" to go kill your parents? Shit like this runs deeper than the medium; check the child's background, this started way before PS2/XboX/ or backwards records. Blame anyone but the parent.
law makers are considering a bill that would make video game companies liable for illegal activity that players under 17
What happened to the parents??? I have a 4 year old, and I am involved in everything he does. I plan on that staying like that til he's 18~25 or whenever. I need to protect him from propaganda like this crap. (and, not the games, the lawmakers).
Well, now that the Broadcast Flag is dead (or dying), they will try the next thing to harrass us on how we pay for what we want to view, then make our TV watching habits unbearable... why? What happened to "Land of the Free"?
Also on the list, the PC; Microsoft will make you NOT want to use your PC, Palm, CellPhone, Console game unit, home entertainment media Center, Car OSes, etc. What are we left with? Time with our family, face to face... =)
I can't wait for the day I get a chance to get to space. Hopefully in my lifetime it will be affordable... and by affordable, I mean like SouthWest Airline's $79 one way to Vegas from Chicago.
I personally love my DishDVR. I have had Dish for 4 years, so I feel compelled to defend them. I have the 508 (with removable hard drive to extract MPEG2 to PC, edit commercials, and archieve to SVCD). I know they have been slow to implement, but they (finally) have name based recordings... meaning, yes like Tivo originally had, will record the show if it runs late due to football game or if it's the 2 hour season ender. My particular unit doesn't support that new (long awaited) feature.
To me, the DishDVR has been girlfriend friendly. My GF loves it. I have never used an actual Tivo, so I cannot compare.
"a representative from the RIAA has agreed to attend the event"
So he can see what's "hip" in colleges and file a lawsuit to follow.

"Of those who play pirated games, 64% have installed mod chips on their consoles."
I thought you needed a mod chip to play any pirated, or, 'backed up' game? To me, there are too many inacuracies.

My fault - that's just for a "google Account" not the email. My mistake.

Apparently, the above replies don't get the humor in the joke. Maybe it's because they drive, Bimmers? Beemers? BMWs. Whatever.
Only MP3 Beamer I can think of is the iPod for the BMW.
Interesting, none-the-less.
Dupe, yep.

Space amazes me, and good luck to Robert Bigelo.
