Solution: dramatically lower the cost of all upgrades. When the upgrade versions purchased by Computer Enthusiasts and students gets out, then positive word will spread, and people will want it more.
Right now, Vista is too expensive, with too little new to warrant an upgrade in a tight economy.
Yeah, especially considering HGL will most likely be owned by EA.
I can think of many, many games that EA has just abandoned, not releasing any more patches or bug fixes despite a solid userbase and cash income.
Unless the Chinese asked were older than 65, they are unlikely to even know what it's like without government "control". It's akin to asking a wild mustang if he likes horseshoes.
Honestly, I'm really pissed they didn't have this 20 years ago.
Cause I'd be all for having several genetic mods in my body.
(And if you don't like me having them, too bad. MY body, not yours.)
It's not better technology, it's better targeting. College students are 'soft targets'. They have limited funds, hence they are more liable to share music and less likely to be able to fight back. The RIAA doesn't want to try and extort from someone capable of fighting back, you know.
Of all the stories on Google News about this event, Slashdot's summary is the only one mentioning this molecular computer having to run near absolute zero. In fact, other articles mention this device being made near absolute zero, but not requiring cold for operation.
So I did a little test. I went to Google news and searched for "computer duroquinone". Then I searched for "http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=lJI&resnum=0&um=1&resnum=1&ct=title&q=Computer+Duroquinone+zero&btnG=Search+News">computer duroquinone zero. Notice when you add zero -- for absolute zero -- only Slashdot's story summary returns.
I try not to view hunting for survival as violent. But, for each of us to live, something must die each day. This is why each and every one of us must live our lives to the fullest. Respect what you do and say, respect those around you -- as death feeds us until our time comes.
Submitter:What do you think are the most important obstacles barring the big game publishers from reaching out to the Linux market more than they already do?
The "Games for Windows" campaign. I'm unsure on what the sticker requirements are for that MS programme, but I know this: I've not seen a single Games for Windows game that didn't require XP or Vista. In my opinion, it's Microsoft exercising a monopoly position in the Gaming Industry, but try proving it.
I must say, it looks nice for the most part. Though I would prefer my videos be higher resolution to begin with, not "converted" down then back up -- it would prevent those little slight things you see in the video.
Because aside from the "been dominated, stuffed, and mounted in a broomcloset" native beliefs, (and not including Wicca for being a 50's pan-anglican rehash of old paganism,) America has no Gods of it's own. Perhaps this is Neil Gaiman's meaning?
Full disclosure: I am indian by blood, and yes, a pagan.
The real problem isn't bullying. Bullying has been around in some form or another since the dawn of time. The real problem is a twofold difficulty in psychological care for tweens and adolescents. One being that professional care is VERY expensive in the United States; the other that there is a very negative stigma here about talking your problems out.
The stigma problem isn't something that will go away any time soon, but the other problem can be blamed mostly on insurance companies. I've suffered from a neurochemical imbalance most of my life, and I've had to fight tooth and nail with my insurer to get them to help out with the bills. They still wouldn't though, so I went ahead and saw a doctor anyway, having my family help out. That isn't an option for most people, though. An everyday crime, at the feet of insurers.
I would trust this ONLY if it is on no networks, and physical access is controlled.
Since the safest computer is one not connected to the internet -- just like my parent's computer on Time Warner Cable.
You have to remember back then there was no FAA. Getting clearance to fly a helicopter in one spot is one thing, but try getting the FAA, the wind, and positioning to conspire just for this. For that matter, try getting past the FAA with a huge kite without being laughed out of the office.
Indeed. Should us Americans use a similar setup, I believe the RIAA would not be able to do it's I.P. address drift-net tactics. Though, as always, IANAL. Though I would love to hear NYCL's take on it.
Cut open an unplugged three prog extension cord, exposing the three wires inside. Cut open Dell power cord, exposing the two wires inside. Position pieces of heat-shrink tube over the stripped inner wires to be joined. Connect positive extension cord wire to positive laptop wire and solder. Connect neg. wire to neg. wire and solder. Connect the third ground wire to the exterior casing of the laptop with tape as to be removable. Cover over the sealed three wires with heat shrink or electrical tape for asthetics.
Disclaimer: I'm assuming everyone here knows what they are doing. Mains power can be very hazardous and very deadly. Do NOT attempt this if you are unsure of what you are doing -- call someone more experienced if in doubt. But for those of you who know what you are doing, this should be an easy fix to avoid the shock of you being used for a ground wire.
Yeah, I personally was thinking when I saw this article, that we should go back to the 60's and 70's airport security, where most anything was allowed that the whole airport's workings were transparent. None of this security though obscurity BS.
Perhaps this will be the one thing that finally gets through to people showing how absurd copyright extension is. I mean, look at Disney! He nicked half of it from public domain -- it should return to public domain. He'll still have his theme parks, his ice cream bars!

Only on Slashdot could the bleeding sarcasm in parent comment be modded "Insightful" or "Interesting".

"Death Race 2000 fantasy aside, none of them are to kill people" Might want to rephrase that a bit there, sonny. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=charged+with+Vehicular+homicide&btnG=Search
Hunting animals for food comes to mind. As does collecting guns. Or buying and selling them for profit. All of these are non-violent uses.

Didn't we just have a story today about how many many "one in five" statistics are false? http://interviews.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/02/26/1322248

Well, don't take the AC adapter with you when offering it for repair. We are modifying the laptop, just the ground-less power cord.
Ah. I was assuming people use surge protectors. Yeah, that's a good idea, thanks.

The comment about the Bus Driver game? Why not just download ...
Desert Bus!
