Perhaps the big news here is that GIMP was mentioned in a BBC article?
Once again,/. picks up the sense of urgency and isn't quite sure what to do with it, demean the topic, point out that it's true, throw out an anecdote about a friend, kick in some witty comment, etc. etc.:)
When will we collectively admit that we're not reading the comments for the topically-relevant information , just here to read, demean, and write crummy posts in forced-genuine NON-nerd fashion? And complain in-thread about just how bad the signal-noise ratio has gotten lately.
Something about a question and an answer cancelling each other out I'm sure...we all enjoy being here despite what we might try to make each other believe.
So yeah, great story, ra ra ra, slashdot sucks, Taco's actually a robot, 3: ??, etc. etc.
Why add "tubing" between the layers? That does seem like a lot of unnecessary effort. If you can stack transistors, surface area seems like a lot less of a commodity. Design the chip with room for a mini copper "heatpipe" vertically through the middle.
1) MS won't backport XP SP2 security improvements (e.g), and EOLs older products, ending support and security patches. In effect, you are forced to pay for the latest security updates. Because of the added cruft that comes with each new successive version of Windows, you often also need a new computer.
2) This is exactly my point; you have to pay for improved versions of Windows, but if you've invested once in a Linux or Windows computer, which gives the greater ROI...Windows or the freely-upgradeable Linux?
The whole point is that you can have the latest and greatest, free, as opposed to paying for the latest and greatest with possibly un-needed capabilities but security updates. Comparing what Linux was at the time with its Windows counterpart is irrelevant when the cost of Linux CURRENT is as capital-intensive as the cost of already-purchased Windows 98/NT 4 workstations.
We'd sell you this data to try and recoup our investment, but we're resigned to the fact that you're not going to buy it
It's a wonder that A) Celera hasn't started sueing other parties with similar datasets or B) The **AA hasn't validated this line of reasoning and stopped sueing filesharers.
It already is a crime (albeit one that has yet to be tested in court up here). New legislation will not change enforcement.
Will second-degree murder with an axe, should it be enshrined in law as a supplement to existing second-degree murder charges, stop people from murdering with an axe more effectively than the original charge alone?
I dont think so.
If enforcement is not up to the task regarding current copywrite law, why the hell would you officially lock things down further when nothing will change? Excess legislation, applied selectively, is one way to fast-track ourselves into another US of A.
I'm confused. Does the Altair have issues with displaying photos according to predetermined criteria?
And is this post going to be modded 3:interesting, or 3:funny?, or 3:offtopic?
Write a plugin for LUFS and mount your virtual filesystem?

None. Read GP post.
:)
They haven't started yet.
Careful, mods, not TOO high. Don't want the Homeland Security guys keeping an eye on the long-haired smellies to get any ideas.
Mod parent down.
Is that all? I suppose just making it invisible is not an option.
That would truly be a long night's work.

Bingo. Problem solved.

It'll be duped twice.

Explain this point of view to the Supreme Court regarding the Grokster ruling. While you are right, you are still wrong. Disgusting, isn't it?
We really really need a solution to 'if a tree falls in the forest.'?
=)
...is when you honest-to-God have a use for them. =)
Did Oddyssey take a picture too? =)
Ask the GP if he voted for GWB last 'election.' That might just quiet him.
If it wasn't already dead, I'm sure they would have some trouble packaging it.

It does seem a lot more relevant modded funny...
Why does your country accept this idea of punishing everyone evenly for possible illegal use of something that is generally used for legal things?
Consider it the price of 'innocent until proven guilty.'
Have you no shame! NO CHANGE FROM THE COLLECTION PLATE!
So BSD is _____, Jim? (Fill in your own damn blank, I don't have karma to burn)
No one owns the water. Its Gods water, man. =)

Err... liberation.
Get it right, you fool! =)
Wait a minute...I thought he was?
