I remember repeatedly taking pictures of my TV screen, only to see the Polaroid come out with the screen seemingly off. I accused my brother of sneaking over and turning the TV off in between button press and picture-take.
(I think that's every moderation but "informative")
Apparently it's impossible to respond to/start a discussion about religion (even in direct correlation with the slashdot story) without it being both flamebait and troll material. That seems unnecessarily restrictive. -----

Ok, then the truth is "You don't vote Green *or* Nader, you vote for an elector."
Yes, I was not writing literally who you are voting for. I was attempting to get across the point that a candidate is not always bound strictly to the platform of the party under which they are designated. Case in point, Nader does not specifically support the platform position of the Green party that 100% of wages over 10xMinimumWage should be taxed. -----
You don't vote Green or Libertarian or Reform. You vote Nader or Browne or Buchanan. Party affiliations are a good sign of what that candidate stands for, but (from the Green site Platform Summary):
This platform is not binding for candidates on any level.
Here is a link to the Platform endorsed by the Nader/LaDuke campaign.
On their specific platform, there is no mention of the 10x minimum wage-100% taxation rate. A vote for Nader is a vote for Nader, not a vote for the Green Party. -----
The NEC Simplem - Dynamism.com has reconfigured the keyboard and OS of this made-for-Japan slimtop for use in the US. At $3599, it unfortunately falls into the Unlimited price category for the gift season, but with a flat screen monitor, cordless keyboard, cordless mouse, Web remote control, and wonderful design ethic (physical skins!) it definitely tops my Please-Please-PLEASE wishlist.
The article only mentions that the drivers are packaged along as examples. If they're using them as examples of how the conversion kit works, I suspect they are including both the binaries and the original source code.
If true, would that violate the GPL?
This seems more of the issue than whether or not distributing a program that allows for potentially illegal action violates the GPL. -----
One of Tivo's best features is it's autorecording of shows you might like that you might not have thought of.
To honestly allow the mp3-sharing servers to expand our listening, how about song recommendations based on "people who have this song often also have this other song". To go further towards Tivo, how about letting me set aside a gig for Gnutella to d/l songs to that it thinks I might like? -----
You could learn all that stuff at temp jobs. That way, if you screw up they just put you on another assignment, if you hate the job you can just quit, and best of all they pay you to learn what you're doing. -----

If you don't like the (randomly set) price Amazon's charging, don't pay it. But agreeing to pay it and then complaining that someone else got the same thing for less is ridiculous. -----
Can Ford be sued for creating a hostile workplace if someone sees an offensive porn site on a computer that they provided for their employee (in their employee's home?). Is snooping necessary legally to prevent at home porn browsing on company provided computers? -----

Never did get that darned patch.

Why will Netscape not let me import their themes into my nightly build of Mozilla? Is this a technical issue, or a marketing one?
And, if a marketing one, anyone know a workaround to get some of those Netscape themes into my Mozilla?

I want to see this "joint flag" that Radioshack/MSN are under.

It has to do with the total number of moderations, and which moderations happened last. That post currently has moderations of:
Flamebait=2, Troll=1, Insightful=4, Funny=1, Overrated=1, Total=9.

What's the perfect name for the robot following the Aibo?
The Bibo, of course!

Strange to see a slashdot sig adapted from a Jurassic Park quote:
"Your Scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

"Took the auction off of Ebay -- interested parties, contact me and tell me who you are. Click here for more information"

Destroying other robots? No, I'm talking about destroying the corporate sponsors. Are there specific rules against rising up against humanity?

Are atomic weapons specifically against the rules?

By the way, I can't find your full name anywhere on the ebay auction thing (that is, anything after the "Pr"...).

Think you'd be disqualified if you programmed your robot to destroy your corporate sponsors?

So this is how we get around having to verify things now. End every story with:
This either is happening, is not happening, or might happen.
Thanks for clearing that up.

A robot gets fired and replaced by a virtual robot.
We humans spent all that time worried that robots were going to replace us in the workplace. I think our fears were misplaced.
